ZNBC
The Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) says it will soon start regulating Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation -ZNBC- as a public content provider. IBA acting Director General Eustace Nkandu also says, the regulatory framework will soon change and that the IBA will have power to regulate ZNBC.

Mr Nkandu was speaking during a workshop held at Mass media Complex in Lusaka today.

And ZNBC Director General Richard Mwanza has urged staff at ZNBC to produce content that will protect public interest. Mr. Mwanza said this in a speech read on his behalf by ZNBC Director of Programmes, Rose Chumpuka.

Meanwhile, Lusaka Province Minister, Japhen Mwakalombe says government has recognized ZNBC as a stakeholder in the promotion of democracy and development in the country.

Mr. Mwakalombe says the role of the public media cannot be overshadowed, because it provides information of public interest to millions of Zambians.

The Minister says his office will work closely with ZNBC in order to project government’s development agenda, and also promote a good image of Zambia.

Mr. Mwakalombe has also emphasized the need to raise awareness on government’s efforts in job creation among others.

He said this when ZNBC Director-General, Richard Mwanza called him at his office in Lusaka.

And Mr. Mwanza said ZNBC will continue to give government a platform on which to communicate its development programmes, through its various TV programmes.

Mr. Mwanza said programmes like TV 2’s My Community has allowed Councillors’ to interact with the communities they serve while Government Forum is a platform where Ministers inform the public on what is happening in various ministries.

He has since pledged ZNBC’s continued partnering with the Minister’s office in order to carry out its mandate as the leading information channel.

  1. Is this a late april fools statement? Are these guys having a laugh? ZNBC is a PF mouth piece. The PF are so pathetic that they dont even try and hide their propaganda. It is the same with lusaka times which only reports about lungu and his minions. When they report about opposition it is always to show them in negative light. Nothing in this country is going right under PF. We have been taken 30 years back. Very sad to see this country become the next zimbabwe

    • Would this be the same ‘Independent Broadcasting Authority’ that suspended Muvi TV and Komboni radio’s broadcasting licenses? Their only crime was to cover the opposition during the elections.

What regulation of ZNBC would they perform?

    • there’s is nothing new, IBA is regulated by state house, this means indirect censorship for znbc by Amos chanda

  3. And these crooks sold it to the Chinese for a loan they shared! They think that we are stupid? Only Lungu and his followers are that stupid. We no longer have ZNBC, we have PFBC! M******mwe!

  4. Really laughable …you sold off 60% of shareholding for a loan that will benefit Chine companies and you talk of regulating!!

  5. This Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) should be scrapped if it ever exists in Zambia. The shameless directors of IBA and ZNBC should not be allowed to continue to hold office. They have let Zambia down.

  6. We are now in talks with Trump our party is now equivalent to the Republican Party. We have also decreed that from now on other human beings are hyena. We now see that the other person who had no plan was a good leader

  7. Jay jay you are correct it is talk, since IMFwas hear how many announcements glorifying what is planned, proposed, being addressed. It’s all about satisfying the IMF so we get the money.
NEZ we will become Zambabwe if we keep borrowing.

  8. What is IBA then if all along it hasn’t been monitoring DeadNBC? You mean it was there only to target private stations? And we allowed it! Its a political weapon then. Using taxpayers money. That is illegal
