Jesuit Center for Theological Reflections (JCTR) says government was able to stick to fulfillment of its objectives for the 2017 fiscal year which have translated in improved fiscal and economic growth.

JCTR Social Economic Programme Officer, Innocent Ndashe says that macroeconomic indicators like the single digit inflation rate and the continued stability of the Zambian kwacha on international markets are an indication of economic growth for the country.

He has also commended government on the various incentives aimed at promoting transparency in the use of public funding.

Mr. Ndashe has since called on relevant authorities to take action in ensuring individuals who abuse public funds are prosecuted.

He added that so far, not much has been done in prosecuting offenders hence the continued practice of misappropriation of funds in some government departments.

He has consequently advised government to consider developing the national planning and Budgetary Act saying it will necessitate for full participation of citizens in the budgetary process.

He added that this will allow for strengthened credibility in resource utilization on monies allocated towards government programmes.

And Civil Society for poverty Reduction (CSPR) has commended government on its efforts to promote sustainable economic and social development through its various programming.

CSPR Resource and Governance Coordinator, Tommy Singongi says through various policy formulations like the seventh national development plan, government has continued to provide an efficient road map in alleviating poverty among disadvantaged groupings nationwide.

Mr. Singongi has also commended government on its efforts to reduce external borrowing from international lending institutions by relieving financial deficits with focus on increasing domestic borrowing as indicated during the 2017 budget presentations, last year.

He has however called on government to look into mitigating some of the implications the policy would pose on the growth of Small and medium enterprises (SME’S).

Mr. Singongi added that though the targeted threshold was set at six billion kwacha, the debt stock has increased to ten billion, a figure he says would affect capital flows within the private sector.

He further stated that domestic cash flows are necessary in accelerating growth investments which culminate in social benefits such as job creation and growth of Gross Domestic product (GDP).

The CSPR Resource and Governance Coordinator has since called on government to set the 2018 budgetary lines to focus on actuating investment growth in keys sectors with growth potential to drive economic growth.

    • Too engrossed with proving a point. Just deliver. What will revive the economy is making borrowing cheap, encouraging manufacturing, tourism and agriculture. The more and faster money circuates in the economy, the better the business environment. Right now, money is hard to come by and that’s the reason demand for the dollar is low. Also, the USA is deliberately lowering the dollar value to boost her exports. It’s always better to look at global factors before crediting PF with anything.

  1. A saying goes, “For a hyna to be vocal, there must be where he is pressing his butt!” Unfortunately, those from outside who do not know that they guy is unelectable chose pa ka red! Red is a non-winning color because it means fire! Except for Nklana!

  2. We are pleased as a country to have sold ZCCM for $25million to KCM which recouped its investment within a few months. We are again pleased to announce the purchase of 42 Fire trucks at $42million to deal with the emerging threat from North Korea. Furthermore we would like to thank the government of Edgar for the continued borrowing for infrastructure corruption to build more duals and toll gates per each kilometer. All patriotic Zambians must support this great initiative by the able and visionary leadership of his excellency Dr Jonathan.

  3. @Dual citizen DC; you shall kill youselves in upnd.am sure you can agree with me that many things have improved unlike things were before 11/08/2016.
In 2016 Load shedding was worse, kwacha very weak, inflation high, mealie meal prices-high,fuel prices-high,etc.BUT TODAY LOAD SHEDDING IS NO MORE,FUEL PRICES DROPPED,MEALIE MEAL IS CHEAP,KWACHA IS STABLE,ETC.if elections can be held today,PF would 100% retain power!!
Hon.Felix Mutati has done wonders as a finance minister.many good things are still coming for mother Zambia.IF THE PF GOVNT CONTINUES ACHIEVING POSITIVE RESULTS LIKE THIS,2021 VICTORY WILL SURELY BE THEIRS AND THE OPPOSITION PARTIES WILL JUST WASTE THEIR TIME AND MONEY!!!
Keep it up PF Govnt!!!JCTR never supports blindly,so they mean what they are saying now.PF is indeed on the…

    • Lungu has stolen $20 million…….

      www google.co.uk/amp/s/www.crawleyhappytimes.co.uk/new-state-of-the-art-fire-engine-for-crawley/amp/

  4. Spare us the lies ba PF ,when Kenya’s budget is $25bn and Tz budget is $15bn you’re here tellin us our ka budget of $6.5bn is something to be proud of?

  5. For a true cost of the $1million truck lungu and his associates sold us go on line in your browser to

“New state of the art fire engine for Crawley”

You will see that model if not a better model costing $380, 000.

$20 million has been stolen from poor Zambians.. …

    • This will not win hh any single vote. The only thing which will make Zambians give hh a majority vote is by you tongas stopping your nonsense in work places. We know your stupid behaviour when a tonga is boss. This is what has made your hh not been a president yet. Unless you change your kainde will never be given majority vote.

  6. JCTR, to you and other Zambians, that is good news, BUT not so to the evil U.PNDonkeys. Forces of darkness, they would rather fly the Zambian flag at half mast always, that is their interpretation of happiness.

    • Hehehehehe Mr terrible…..how do you like the $380,000 scania which lungu and his friends sold for 1 million ? Hehehehe

  7. @8 Spaka like lilo, no wonder the bitterness. But looking at the model indicated the truck is too low and would not be able to drive on the humps on Zambian roads. So if the tender which did not succeed was from a U.PNDonkey, obviously it failed on the very first technical spec which is height or ground clearance. Looked at another way, if U.PNDonkeys were in government all the 42 trucks delivered would not be able to drive out of their stations. Would the Donkeys then say that under5 was corrupt or technically incompetent?

  8. @spaka like lilo:you will die from BP because of your hatred for president Edgar Lungu.please note, the moment us Zambians made ECL the Republican president on 20/01/2015,that is the same day he said bye bye to poverty!!a sane person cannot expect a president to remain poor-NEVER!!today ECL is worth more than the US$20 million which you are mentioning here.by 2021 he will be worth much more.we haven given him life pension and he will never lack money until he dies.THIS IS THE POWER OF A VOTE AND GOD’S GRACE!!just imagine how rich ECL will be if he rules Zambia until 2026?UZAZIPAYA SPAKA LIKE LILO!!!
ECL is simply enjoying the grace of being elected as a president.if you also won the presidency,YOUR LIFE WOULD IMPROVE GREATLY!!so stop being bitter for nothing as the PRESIDENCY COMES WITH…

    • You ka njimbu

I should be blogging from Lusaka in the next 4 weeks and I need to try and show you and the other kaponya ba terrible that public service is not always about stealing.. ..the kaponya Sharon is in the US but needs a se.x therapist first to controll her lust for hh before anyone can talk to her….

  9. Spaka like lilo:please note, anyday someone is elected as president or appointed as Zesco,ZRA,RDA,managing Director,Bank of Zambia Governor,Minister etc such a person can never be the same financially as these jobs come with a lot of benefits.its not even via corruption but genuine money.so dont waste time abroad, come back home and make real money here.
We all lived abroad for some time before.believe you me,its a waste of time such that i wouldnt advise my children to live abroad after graduating from the universities.with a western degree, one is assured of a rewarding career in Zambia!!
PLEASE STOP CRYING OVER ECL AS THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT COMES WITH HUGE BENEFITS-GENUINE BENEFITS!!!
if it wasnt for money,HH cannot be fighting to become a president everyday since 2006!!!

    • Eeesh iwe njimbu

Cool down….i was just showing how easy it is to steal $20 million then tax Zambians with no mercy..

  10. If it was merely to provide a service,HH could have given up after being rejected by Zambians for a record 5 times since 2006 because he cant force himself to provide a service to people who do not want him!!!!but HH has insisted contesting for the office of the president since 2006 because he wants to make money in state house, more than what he made via privatization.
THESE FACTS “SHOULD SINK ONTO YOUR HEAD SPAKA LIKE LILO!!”had it not being for money, nobody would join politics or be linked to politicians in Zambia!!
SO LEAVE ECL ALONE AND MAYBE BLAME US ZAMBIANS WHO VOTED FOR HIM.WE GAVE HIM A MONEY JOB-PERIOD!!

  11. Sometimes i wonder why you guys in upnd want us to believe that if upnd was in power then your leaders will be working for free.that cant happen because all these are same politicians.they are hungry for money!!!
UPND MPS USED TO BOYCOTT PARLIAMENT SEATINGS WHENEVER PRESIDENT EDGAR LUNGU WAS THERE.BUT ONCE THE SPEAKER PUNISHED THEM FINANCIALLY,THEY HAVE ALL SWALLOWED THEIR PRIDE AND NOW ATTEND AND SHAKE HANDS WITH ECL!!this is how powerful money can be!!SO ITS TOTAL JERLOUSE WHICH MAKE YOU GUYS IN UPND CALL PF LEADERS NAMES!!the best you can do is to convince Zambians to vote for upnd so that you can get high paying jobs too in 2099!!

    • It is not PFs money that is being stolen, it belongs to all Zambians.. ….and for you to come here and justify stealing while we have poeple starving and schools without roofs shows the level of thinking in pf….i only hope others in PF are not as cold a theif as you.

  12. Njimbu imagine a patriotic zambian like you applauding theft by an incumbent government. You show your shallow perception or rather you show the perception of pf supoorters that the only reason pipo go into politics is to financially benefit themselves ,. What a sad and despicable zambian you are who doesnt even have enough self respect by condoning the president benefitting himself financially (personally) at the expense of the pipo that voted in favour of the pro poor pf party. How many of the 78% of zambians ,iving in abject poverty have increased their wealth exponentially as the president has. United Nation , of which we are a member, figures show 78% of zambian live in abject povety. We cannot dispute because we are membersof UN

    • This kaponya njimbu is the worst of the worst of thieves , he thinks being in public office means stealing from poor Zambians.. ………our only current hope as a country is not everyone in pf only thinks of looting and stealing like this rat….

  13. There is NO poverty in Zambia but in due cause if and I say If UPND comes into power. As at present they are ready to do anything sinister to rise to power including imprisonment if it can raise their status. There shall never be a government anywhere that is going to please all citizens hence the opposition.

    • Hehehehe ati there is no poverty in Zambia

Is that why lungu and his associates without shame steal $20 million ?

What of the recent UN report that maltrition is rife in rural Zambia ??

  14. Hey pink toe , so united nations are wrong and an insignificant pink toe is correct. Ask the villagers that worked to grow maize and are now offered less than production cost by a pro poor government. Something stinks and i think it might be a pink toe

  15. Spaka like lilo:stop troubling your heart.i never support corruption and if you show me one Governt officer involved in corruption,i will be the first person to report such a person to ACC.
What i hate is the habit of pulling other Zambians down.many africans can only appreciate something if they are benefiting directly.this is the fact.the bid for fire engines were cleared by ACC and Public procurement Authority.SO WHAT ELSE CAN WE DO AS ZAMBIANS?TAKE THE LAW IN OUR OWN HANDS?NO,lets respect those in Authority.if they are involved in corruption, they will be jailed alone oneday.

    • Njimbu
You say you never support corruption, but your posts clearly show you expect and accept as principle that lungu is worth more the $20 million when he was broke 5 years ago ?
Where do you think he gets that 20 million ? From the skies ?

Sometimes let’s be responsible in blogging young youth read these blogs and showing them that stealing is right especially in public service just ain’t on.

  16. @spaka like lilo:
Yes president Edgar Lungu maybe broke 5 yrs ago,am sure even RB was broke before Levy Mwanawasa gave him a job.
Believe you me,ECL kissed bye bye to poverty on 20/01/2015 the same day Zambians made him president.as you and I are debating on Lusaka Times,ECL is making money in New York via allowances.recall ECL is number one civil servant in Zambia,do you surely think he can remain as broke as he was 5 yrs ago?GET REAL MAN.NOBODY IN AFRICA CAN GET A NUMBER 1 JOB IN A COUNTRY AND REMAIM BROKE!!!THESE ARE FACTS.by so saying,i dont mean that i support corruption-NO!!OUR CONSTITUTION MAKES PRESIDENTS BECOME RICH VERY FAST!!!Am just being realistic.

    • You , how d.ull can one get or how corruppt can one be ??

Who said lungu must remain broke ? But more than $20 million richer in 4 years ? Common bro, even a common theif can get embarrassed, but you it seems is a theif with no morals no matter how much lungu and the other theives make , its all good.

Time will catchup with you theives…..

  17. One thing I can predict……expect a fire anytime now with one of those gonga trucks conveniently nearby to save the day…….the theives have been cornered and will use state institutions to start a fire anytime now to deflect attention and justify the cost, they were enjoying the money but because of the public out cry they are regrouping ……watch this space….

  18. The proof is in the pudding. His Excellency President Lungu, has kept his head down on the grinding stone doing for Zambians. His govn’t has delivered Peace and as we see, Economic growth and appropriate policies for growth.

We can’t say this for those who would be President in Opposition; who have mainly, burnt down markets and personal properties of those they hope to rule. We know what to do in 2021.
