The United Church of Zambia (UCZ), has welcomed the announcement by President Edgar Lungu for the Church to be part of the national dialogue process.

Northern Presbytery Maybin Mulenga said the church being an impartial body will help to harmonize divergence views during deliberations.

Bishop Mulenga told ZANIS in Kasama, Nothern Province, that the Church has always been in the forefront of preaching peace and unity in the country. He said there is need for Zambians to put national interest first.

And Bishop Mulenga has advised political parties in the country to take the dialogue process seriously in order to promote peace and unity in the country.

He said Zambia is a Christian nation and so there is need for Zambians to be tolerant of one another in line with biblical teachings.

Bishop Mulenga stated that it was sad that the country has continued to witness political violence despite efforts by various stakeholders to promote peace and unity.

He has since advised political parties not to enter the dialogue process with pre-conceived ideas saying that it has potential to negatively affect the outcome of the whole process.

Earlier this week, President Edgar Lungu asked the Zambia Centre for Inter-Party Dialogue (ZCID) to involve the church in the on-going political dialogue so as to achieve consensus on issues of national interest.

    • What a forest of simple minds and corrupt hearts, growing thicker by the day, in hope to meet over something they are calling: “National Dialogue!”

    • Comment:UCZ is the most stupid church which has no proper direction, they are coming out because of money.

  1. The church is no longer neutral, its highly polarized and fails to agree on straightforward matters. If you listen to clergymen like bishop Maambo, would would wonder whether he is a clergyman or politicians.

Its a bad idea to involve church, give ceaser what belongs to ceaser – let them play in the mud as they always do and leave the church of God to do Gods work.

  2. I have no problem with the traditional old churches, except for the SDA which has been largely polluted by Tonga zealots. I don’t trust young churches, all of which are Pentecostals. Even if our problems were insurmountable, it will just to the confusion taking them to reverends and bishops like Daniel Pule, Pukuta Mwanza, John Maambo, Joshua Imakando, Seer 1, Ronnie Shikalume, etc.

    • You are a Muslim and have no right to talk about Christians.
      Mind you licking business.

  3. Most countries keep church and state separate and it works, praying does nothing to get things done, hard work gets thinks done, something quite a few Zambians fear- hard work or work at all.

  4. The mere fact that someone is a deacon or a church elder of some church, let alone a pastor or a bishop, does not mean that such individuals are not party cadres.

  5. Ba Cosmos, l strongly agree with you Zambians are very lazy people who want something out of nothing.
