A good road network is cardinal for development – VEEP

Share

Vice President Inonge Wina has expressed happiness with the progress made on the construction of some developmental projects such as the Tazara-Chisanga taking place in Kasama district.

Vice President Inonge Wina emphasizes that a good road network is cardinal in connecting places such as schools, health facilities and markets.

Speaking when she inspected the construction works of the Tazara-Chisanga road, Mrs. Wina says the road will help the community to have easy access to important facilities.

Mrs. Wina has since appealed to the contractor engaged to work on the road to finish the project within the stipulated time frame.

“The progress made so far is very good and I urge you to continue working hard, ” she said

Mrs. Wina later inspected the Chikumanino bus station where she was also impressed with the works that have been done.

” It is such projects that help to foster development that government will continue working on by ensure that people have access to good services”, she stated

The Vice President further reaffirmed government’s commitment to continue fostering development to all parts of the country

And Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) National Coordinator Chanda Kabwe said the construction of the Tazara-Chisanga road will help to alleviate the challenges people used to face especially during the rainy season.

Mr Chanda , who was part of the Vice President’s entourage , expressed confidence that once the road is complete and a bridge is put up, people will have easy access to all important places in the area.

Meanwhile Northern Province Permanent Secretary Royd Chakaba has appealed to Kasama residents to be patient as the contractor is working on the road.

Mr. Chakaba said all projects will be commissioned once works are done and are handed over to the government.

  3. Good road network is cardinal but if its delivered at inflated costs and via loans then you are simply cheating yourselves ….I mean now you should be telling the people how you intend to pay for all this huge debt from all these road construction projects.
Isn’t this old hen even ashamed that Northern part of the country has received a large portion of development whereby NW and WP have been neglected. You have nothing to show for as you retire old hen Bo Inonge but huge debts you have put on the heads of your great grandchildren.

  5. PF has done good on road network in the country and they have told us that they will continue. Some people would argue that you cannot eat roads. They are wrong, A road is wealth like $ in the reserves. They reduce transport costs , that is money saved, They connect; traders to the markets, hospitals, schools, Police service, courts, farms, game reserves , manufacturing industries, factories, the list is endless. There are people saying roads will soon be washed. Yes, we need to construct and fix the roads, it is part of development and life. In this election PF has a better song. My vote is stuck with PF. The opposition are too hopeless to knock it out of PF. Another proposal song for PF make Kitwe both manufacturing and service city so that it is Kitwe city, this will grow the…

  14. Very true.
    Ease of transporting farm/manufactured produce.
Ease of traversing the town or provinces for business meetings.
Negation of Ease of worn out vehicle parts.
    =?Benefits?=
1] Good transport infrastructure, like highway network, enhances transport system that reduces transportation costs and this, in turn, definitely reduces production costs while increasing the productivity and profitability of organizations.
2]Highway networks also make transportation schedules and deliveries more reliable and timely.
Highways also contribute immensely to social growth, relatives are able to visit their loved ones more often and it enhances good relationship between family and friends.
3] Highways can relatively reduce travel time to villages, cities and towns thereby encouraging people…

  15. … to travel for business and trade.
4] Highways make journeys faster, comfortable and safer than usual while at the same time reducing fuel consumption.
Highways allow regions or different communities that are linked to the highway to gain comparative advantage.
5] It is highly durable: Oftentimes highways are well constructed, they stay strong and in good condition over a long period of time.
6] It helps to reduce accident rate. The life of any individual road user is important. Good roads help to reduce rate of accident that may come as a result of bad roads.
7] It reduces the cost of vehicle maintenance, when you compare it to vehicles subject to extraordinary rough physical treatment under poor road condition.
8] Highways increase the life-span of a vehicle: Under poor road…

8] Highways support development: Use of highways will affect virtually every economic activity of the environment. Hence, every rural community that is separated from others due to lack of motorable road will be economically challenged.
9] Highway makes life better in various ways: such as reducing travel time for: Residents; workers; students; accessing health services; tourist centers and market places. It also reduce cost of travel by motorcycles and vehicles as well as reducing the transportation cost for industries thereby reducing production cost, while increasing passenger services and more…

  17. @2 tikki, MULI MA JOKERS SANA AYI? DO YOU REALLY THINK A COUNTRY CAN DEVELOP WITHOUT FIRST DEVELOPING IT’S INFRASTRUCTURAL FACILITIES. MUNYAKO FYE AAMAAFI KU UK TAMUSAMBILILAKO FYE NANGU FIMO AYI? IF THAT COUNTRY WHERE YOU LIVE IS STILL DEVELOPING INFRASTRUCTURE WHAT OF ZAMBIA THAT NEVER STARTED DEVELOPING INFRASTRUCTURE RIGHT FROM INDEPENDENCE DAY?
ZAMBIA IS NOT AS DEVELOPPED AS OTHER NEIGHBOURING COUNTRIES BECAUSE OF YOUR THINKING THAT YOU START EATING AND THEN DEVELOPING INFRASTRUCTURE SECOND.

  18. Any dull person and this foolish KZ a Grade 12 drop out from rugs to riches only knows how to insult. Tell us why bread is k20 from k7, cooking oil k290 from k75, road per km is $800000 compared to other countries in region at $200000, tell us how much tax you have paid.

  19. Your house must be stocked up with family needs for daily living before working on beauty of the yard! As a nation Zambians are yet to afford 3 square meals morning, noon and, evening. Many families go to bed with parents worrying about the coming day for many of the basics. Hope the roads will lift the burden!

  20. ASK NOT WHAT ZAMBIA CAN DO FOR YOU. – That text book you are copying and pasting from doesnt say nothing about highways constructed at inflated costs with loans and the recipient govt has no means or knowhow of paying them..ATM half the budget is going to debt servicing…meaning fuel costs and costs of production goes up and can not be reduced.

  21. ASK NOT WHAT ZAMBIA….. – That text book you are copy ing and pasting from doesnt say nothing about highways constructed at in flated costs with loa ns and the recipient govt has no means or knowhow of paying them…….ATM half the budget is going to debt servicing…meaning fuel costs and costs of production goes up and can not be reduced.

  22. Without good road infrastructure you cannot have any development , but only have people dying in road accidents and indeed you cannot collect farm products from far away areas or rural areas , it all takes a little thinking to know all that, to some dull guys it is about food how about without bringing farm products from across the country it takes good roads .
Taking the sick to the hospitals takes good roads every movement in the country needs good roads, without good roads may be you need to have helicopters to fly across the country.
Like what someone said Zambians are careless about spending money they have no respect for funds they amplify prices to steal, this is the trend that affects our people every were in the nation either the out going or the any one of them…

  23. Tarino Orange, I do not need your advice. I am glad ZED looks better today and it is getting better. I will always respect you.

  24. We require Zambians to work hard to earn money, save some of the earned money and invest the saved money wisely. Cassava-Kawambwa approach is an example. I say thank you to this approach- here is my vote.

  25. @ Nshilimubemba; You said we need good roads to take us to Hospital, including Farms , Clinics, schools. Yes thats very true,we need that, But,a good road to which Hospital?

  26. Mind you , below is a definition of a Hospital:
an institution that is built, staffed, and equipped for the diagnosis of disease; for the treatment, both medical and surgical, of the sick and the injured; and for their housing during this process. Currently in Zambia do you have any single structure that suits this definition?

  27. And dont worry , I wont touch the expired drugs part, that will be too much to handle for you. Hence i will end here. Goodbye.
