PATRIOTIC Front (PF) president Michael Sata yesterday disowned former Works and Supply minister Mike Mulongoti and Zambia’s former ambassador to Libya Mbita Chitala saying he found it hard to understand the two.
Mr Sata said in Lusaka yesterday that Mr Mulongoti and Dr Chitala are some of the human beings who are very difficult to understand. He was responding to a question from the presenter of Hot FM’s radio’s Hot Seat live phone-in programme on whether his party is willing to accept the two who have declared support for the PF by campaigning for Mr Sata.
“Mr Mulongoti and Dr Chitala teamed up with former President Chiluba to dissect and shred me when I left the MMD in 2001. They did the same in 2008. They did everything they could do but they failed,” Mr. Sata said.
“We have a big problem in this country. The biggest problem we have is to understand human beings. Among the human beings who are very difficult to understand are people like Mike Mulongoti and to a certain extent people like Mbita Chitala,” he said.
He said even during their campaign for President Mwanawasa, the duo worked against him but still failed to achieve their aim.
And the MMD has described Mr Sata’s statement that Mr Mulongoti and DrChitala are difficult people to understand, as an indication that the opposition leader does not want to work with them in this year’s general elections.
“If I understand that statement correctly, it means Mr Mulongoti and Dr Chitala are not welcome in the PF,” MMD national secretary Richard Kachingwe said yesterday.
He said Mr Sata’s statement on the duo is strong and should serve as a warning to Mr Mulongoti and Dr Chitala whom he said are trying to advance their hidden political agenda using the PF.
Major Kachingwe said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that Mr Mulongoti and Dr Chitala will pay a heavy price for being unprincipled political leaders as well as for resigning from the ruling party.
“Mr Sata’s statement is an indication that the opposition leader doesn’t want to work with these people. Mr Mulongoti and DrChitala will pay a heavy price for being opportunistic,” he said.
“It would appear these people wanted to form a faction within the ruling MMD but they failed. My advice to them is to come back and rejoin the party at branch level. The party is open as long as they come back and apologise for what they did before they were expelled,” Maj Kachingwe said.

And to add to the list, business parks and increase in FDI are the many benefits Zambia has seen.

Don’t be too sure with this assumption. Sata knows if frogs were allowed to vote during elections, even a 0.5point per vote, they would be of value during that time. That means they can get a comment on what is reported in the tabloid (Post) and newspapers (Dailymail and Times). Very interesting, but this goes with my earlier plea that those falling out of the old parties like Mulongoti whose antics whilst in MMD are contradictory to their current stand, must be retired after safely examining their sanity. My encounter with him in 2006 when they had just formed the NCC, and was Minister of Information, I questioned him why they were paying themselves a daily sitting allowances more than a Nurse’s, Teacher’s monthly’s salary, he just laughed, and said their responsibilty was greater than anybody’s else, and only those who would attend will appreciate the amount. State media at it again!!. What was the CONTEXT and what was the conclusion to that statement?There are so many difficult people in PF and indeed every other political party. Does this recognition by a leader mean that he does not want them? Sata does not need to go to QFM to inform the people he does not want to work with. Anti-corruption the comment on #26 is not Mushota’s. It’s too sensible to be a comment from a black person. Since Mushota is black I can only assume the posting is her Scottish fiance’s ideas. It does not matter what the idea put forth is, but the result, from which in a remarkable way, has obtained from this fora, a clear consensus on the effect of fraudsters in political parties, without of course, losing the fact that Sata is no worse than the subject.
It is a wrong premise that because Sata has correctly judged these characters (Mbita/Mulongoti) that this makes him (Sata) better than them. It is a question of ‘defending one’s turf’, reading the mood perhaps.

…………Here we go again! The truth about our political situation is that of recycling politicians. Mulongoti et al., are constantly seeking opportunities to remain within the the political spec. In short these guys are job seekers with nothing to offer. The way I see it, Sata is the only viable candidate at the moment. Whether he remains the best there is or not the fact is, he is probably the last of his generation to rule Zambia before the new generation takes over. As for development under PF, lets wait and see. For now it is PF and later once in government it will be us judging weher it was good a decision to put Sata in office. Bottomline is, PF in office will probably initiate another discourse in our political future. Implying that someday you and I will run for the high office
