2011 All Africa Games: Nachula , Kombe Exit

Zambia’s bad showing at the 2011 All Africa Games continued with 400 meters women’s prospect exiting from the quadrennial event.

Nachula failed to qualify to the finals of the 400 meters after finishing 7th in the semifinals.

She was joined out of the All Africa Games track and field events by men’s 800 meters entrant Xavier Kombe who finished 5th in his semifinal race.

Prince Mumba is the only track representative still in the medals hunt as he runs in the 3000 meters men’s final on Tuesday.

There is hope, however, in the netball where the team is currently in third place in the round-robin tournament.

Rebounding Zambia beat Zimbabwe 51-39 to go third on table on 8 points behind Tanzania and Uganda on 8 and 12 points respectively.

Already out of the medal race are Zambia’s representatives in swimming, badminton, boxing, karate and today men’s singles hopeful Edgar Kazembe tumbled out of the event in the second round in straight sets losing 6-3, 6-2 to Sabry Sherif of Egypt.

And the chess team continues its quest for medals.

Meanwhile, Judo hope to keep Zambia’s hopes alive when they start their competitions on Thursday in what is a forgettable All Africa Games outing for Zambia.

  1. Actually, we were even lcuky to participate. Is this not the same tournament that we failed to host due lack of sports facilities and/or funds to construct them? I was reliably informed that countries that win the bid to host but later fail to do so are automatically disqualified, so how did we survive?

The above report is very wrong you need correct it.Prince Mumba is in 800m and Kombe is 400m,we have no one in 3000m.It is Tonny Wamulwa who is in 5000m

  3. **== i was also a victim of miss reporting in the 90s.zambia reporter should not report infor that they picked up on the street.

  4. WHAT A SHAME THAT WE DONT EVEN KNOW OUR RUNNERS WELL.
BOTSWANA WITH 2 MILLION PEOPLE HAS PRODUCED A 400m WORLD CHAMPION.SHE JUST SCCOPED THE ALL ARICA GAMES 400m GOLD.TWA SEBANA KUNO ABENA ZED!

  5. Everything is in a mess politics, sport, economy, etc. Unless the head and brain is fixed the whole body just goes bonkus. That is why we now have people like Dora using her buttocks for campaigning. Do you expect any medals from nachula? the answer is no. Fix plot 1 and put the right person there then you will see everything elase fall in place.

  6. RUpiah’s poor leadership is written all over Zambia in all aspects of life. It is no surprise at all. Pleeese vote this Zombie out and get Zambia on the international stage again.

  7. this Nachula girl participated in the world Championships early this month and how on earth can she not qualify to the finals? she came out number 5 in the heats and last in the semis of the IAAF. alas nachula katushefye ku ng’anda mayo wandi. The boy prince Mumba participated in 800m at the just ended IAAF and how came he wants to run 3000m? does he think he is from Kenya or Ethiopia? tulebako serious.
