New appointed cabinet minsters have made a number of promises regarding the execution of their duties in the new positions they have been put.

Newly Appointed Information, Broadcasting and Tourism Minister Given Lubinda has said that government will ensure that the Freedom of Information Bill is enacted.

Mr. Lubinda has also pledged to ensure that the Public media does not become a PF mouth piece but a public media.

He says that it will be disappointing for the public media to start hero worshiping the PF leadership rather than get views from the public.

Mr. Lubinda was speaking to journalists shortly after being appointed as Information, Broadcasting and Tourism Minister by President Sata at State House Thursday morning.

Mr. Lubinda will be deputized by Forrie Tembo who is MMD Nyimba Member of Parliament.

And newly appointed Mines Minister Wylbur Simuusa has pledged to engage all stakeholders in the mining sector.

Mr. Simuusa says government wants to create a win-win situation for all stakeholders especially on issues of taxation.

He says that the government will also ensure that the Gemstone sector contributes to the economic growth of the country.

And Newly appointed Home Affairs Minister Kennedy Sakeni has said that the PF government will ensure that the rule of law prevails without interference from politicians.

Mr. Sakeni said that the PF government has a huge challenge of arresting the increase in financial crime involving people in higher offices.

Mr Sakeni told ZNBC News in an interview shortly after President Michael Sata appointed him as his new Home Affairs Minister.

Mr Sakeni said that his main task is to ensure that security wings do their job professionally.

Mr. Sakeni who is Mansa Central PF Member of Parliament says he will ensure that law is applied swiftly and fairly.

Mr. Sakeni once served as Home Affairs Deputy Minister in the MMD government under President Levy Mwanawasa’s administration.

And Republican Vice President Guy Scott says he will put in his best towards the development of the country.

Dr. Scott says it is an honour to be appointed Republican Vice President and that he will work extra hard.

He was speaking with ZNBC News shortly after President Michael Sata announced his new cabinet at State House in Lusaka on Thursday.

Minister of Defence Geoffrey Mwamba and Minister of Transport, Works, Supply and Communications Willie Nsanda have promised that they will not betrayed Zambians have bestowed on them.

The duo was speaking in separate interviews in Lusaka at State House after their appointment by republican President Michael Sata.

  1. O yes go on Simusa. It is time they pay for what they are getting from us. Then am heading home to help in the Auditing dept. Home sweet home! Viva shimine!

  2. WE HAVE ALL THE FAITH IN GIVEN LUBINDA TO SORT OUT ZNBC AND THE CHANDA CHIIMBA THE THIRDS WHO BORED US WITH A LOT OF PROPAGANDA. MAKE ZNBC WORTH WATCHING. INDEED NO HERO WORSHIPPING AND REDUCE THE INTERVIEW/DISCUSSION PROGRAMMES. MORE SOCCER. ALL THE BEST. YOU CAN DO IT TOUGH TOO MUCH ON ONE PLATE – MINISTRY INFORMATION,BROADCASTING & TOURISM ON TOP OF BEING A TOURIST ATTRACTION YOURSELF

  3. Ministry of mother and Child Health!!!!!!!!!! What a country!!!!!! What has community development got to do with health? I thought maybe Ministry of Comunity Development, Mother and Child Nutrition would have made sense.

  4. PLEASE MR LUBINDA SORT OUT ZNBC,THE DAILY MAIL AND THE TIMES OF ZAMBIA. FIRE ALL THE ENTIRE MANAGEMENTS THAT WERE RUPIYAS POODLES.

  5. The merging of Ministries makes some Ministries just too big. Our constitution is far too weak. Why should we leave it to a dull old man to decide which Ministries to merge or not? Look, tourism, environment and natrual resources are three distinct and yet very important sectors which themselves need their own Ministry. Besides, we have a development plan which the President should have used to guide him as he merges Ministries. Ministry of Chiefs and what? What rubbish!!!

  6. znbc pliz put things in order alot of water has gone under the bridge. We need proper news for the TV License. We need to know what is happening around the country and the world at large.I wish you all the best.

  7. Yes as a Senior Headman in this country am very happy at least we have our own ministry not that rubbish house of chiefs and a reminder to those cadre chiefs watch out. congrats HE.

  8. #7 Nutrition falls under Health therefore it makes sense to cover all health concerns regarding mothers and children not just nutrition..if children are physically abused then nutrition alone isnt going to solve that issue.

  9. Michael Sata, the president has always been an action oriented man and he will ensure to make Zambia what it ought to be. We have always cried for public media that serves the interests of the people free from political inteference.
We saw in the defunct MMD cabinet where a cabinet minister was found guilty of tender offences and then advised to ‘resign’ while at the same time a senior cabinet post (Education) was reserved for her and within days she was reappointed minister of education. This woman never attended a single graduation ceremony at UNZA. This was your MMD at work.

  10. No fake promises. Deliver just as you have promised! show the former ruling party that you can do it despite being called a kaponya goverment!

  11. #12 Appointing MMD MPs is not a sign of Satas graciousness; he is only trying to reduce the parliamentary majority that the opposition currently holds. You dont expect a minister even from the opposition to vote against the government. This is what you call political dribbling from the FTJ school of political science.

  12. Are Civil Servants safe. I hope pipo wont lose jobs. Anyway they said that we should vote wisely of which we did. My children are very small and i need this job plizzzzzzzz batat ba President mwitutamfya inchi. GOD IS WATCHING!

  13. Most of the coments are childish and mediocre. Can we use this site to critic and analyse national issues than posting rubbish. We expect politicians who visit the site to pick ideas, thats how we can contribute to the the running of the govt. Regardless of your political affiliation the govt in place is a govt for all Zambians. We are therefore obliged to provide checks and balances to ensure the govt delivers on its promises.

I wish to remind ourselves that these are serious national issues and not football to aplaud or criticise anyhow, more especially on party lines. Kindly note of my sentimates and oblige to give credence to the site and make it worthwhile.

  14. Honestly, how do we merge Labour with Sport and Youth? Shouldn’t those at least be with Community Development? And we know why GBM has been given M.O. Defence, it is clearly a way for him to supply mealie meal to the defence wings.

  15. What can Given tell us nw, yestaday he was busy denying PF cadres are beating MMD coleagues. He has nw learned mulongoti’s deceiptful tactics of denying everything even wen your eyes can see.

  16. Now that the cabinet has been named they together with cabinet office could maybe first look into and define the terms of reference for the ministries then name them appropriately considering that housing of ministerial offices and some departments will have to relocate

  17. look at Simuusa’s tone nw it has changed from Windfall tax a must to engaging stateholders and creating a win win situation.come on guyz cant you see these guys chickening out from their campaign promises……you dont need a prophet to tell you that we are hoping against hope….no real change from MMD, empty promises…..empty 90 days.

  18. Thank goodnessve no Mpombo, no Slyvia (but i have not seen local government minister on this list), no mulongoti, no chabwera, none of these characters let them go and rest at their farms.\:d/

  19. OMG! This more than expected. What a powerful team….if these guys work, which I trust they will do then I am not afraid, my children have a secure future !

Next… Permanent Secretaries…. the judiciary….they too will be of high calliber and performers.. watch Zambia on the move.

  20. mines shudve bn Min. of Natural resources, other than that we’ll give u O th support u need…..th die has bn cast, lets go nd get th job done

  21. Shamenda visit all the investors and companies including Insurance companies, especially African Life insurance the salaries are pathetic. I knew Shamenda would scoop this position. Go Shamenda go, you are not a let down, even though Chiluba had to freeze our peanuts. Companies should not be changing names just to hide from paying tax especially these tumusange companies they are a let down. Today Cell Z tomorow Cell A and yet thay are selling these comapnies to relatives and friends and MMD was blinded by a single Kakhi envelop while the majority of Zambians are suffering. Mulechimona uno mwaka kulipila umusonko tulefwaya. The rest of us should not be sleeping and think that money will fall in our pockets. It will only be for those working hard. Viva PF. Ba MMD balieshako ba UPND awe.

  22. @ 3 HAMALEKE,WHO SAID WE ALL WANT SOCCER DONT DICTATE WHAT TO SHOW OR NOT TO SHOW. SOME OF US WANT INTERVIEWS OFCOURSE NOT ABOUT PF BT NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT…SO LEAVE ZNBC TO DO THEIR THING

  23. #17, Point of correction. Nutrition does not fall under Health it is cross cutting, thats why we have problems in this country because of such thinking. Nutrition is key to national development hence it should have been higly considered and not to be regarded to be under health.

  24. there’s alot of junk in the heads of most pf chaps..eish..what the hell is going on here..?what kind of cabinet is this..?

  25. This Sata is a ***. Look at the poorly named ministries and duplications: *********
    1. VP and then Deputy VP2. Every ministry has a deputy3. MINI. LABOUR , SPORTS,YOUTH & GENDER and then MINISTRY of COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT, MOTHER AND CHILD HEALTH4. MINISTRY LOCAL GOVERNMENT, HOUSING,EARLY EDUCATION AND ENVIROMENT PROTECTION and then MINISTRY OF CHIEFS AND TRADITIONAL AFFAIRS5. MINISTRY EDUCATION,SCIENCE & VOCATIONAL TRAINING and then the Early Education in 4, above.
Does this Sata has scatter brain?

  26. As much as we understand that DR. GUY SCOTT is hard working we must also look at citizeship. If the President dies can he rule the country as an interim president? The Zambia Constitution says The vice president assumes powers to act as the interim president should the president dies, resigns or impeached. Guy scott is not a zambian citizen to rule zambia in such circumstances. Think twice!

  27. No. 41 point of correctionl, dont blog when you dont know sh.it… concentrate on what you are doin there coz i can see already you are have been caught up in a mix…. go through the cabinet once more…. not this LT cabinet displayed…. get the facts right and comment… thats why there is a new Ministry called Ministry of the Vice President to take over Presido in case of nature.. thank you and dont argue.. **this is the recording**

  28. How many nominated MPs do we have, 8 or 10?

    1. B Sichinga 2. J Phiri, 3. S Mukupa 4. P Kaunda 5. A Chikwanda 6. W Nsanda 7. S Mbuzi 8. J Kasonde 9. N Siambukula 10. S Zulu.

  29. #41 MK,
Guy Scott is Zambian just like any other Zambian.
Guy Scott became Zambian just like all the old timers who were present in Zambia at the time of independence.
SATA is NOT more Zambian than Guy Scott; they are equally Zambian in every respect.
So in the even that SATA died, Scott would rightfully become president just like any other Zambian would.
What you need to do is to stop the deception your eyes are telling you.
I must state that, yes, Zambia would then be ruled by a white man; but whether ‘white man’ or ‘black man’ does not matter. What matters is if the person is Zambian and is credible to rule the country as head of state.
If your eyes see Scott as non-Zambian, they are lying to you; yes he is a ‘white’ man but as exactly Zambian as you and I are, SATA knows.

    • Very well explained except you have, deliberately, ignored the fact that Dr Scot’s parents were not Zambian; to which the constitution is very clear.

  30. #1 Lawyer without fimofimo; I also leaked that Mmembe would be appointed Special Assistant for Press one week ago. I think he refused so his deputy was picked.

  31. Guys ,Wilbur Simuusa is the Tonga  he has been given a very big task as minister of mines . please Tongas do not complain

  32. winter is party Chief executive. He has to answer on issues concerning the party while lubinda the issues concerning the goverment policies. He is more senior than any one appointed. he can institute expulsions.Thats how they operate in europe. he has to be given a lighter Job.

  33. the cabinet lives much to be desired.GBM is not fit to be cabinet minister (he’s hot tempered and a shameless wife batterer).I equally doubt Willie Nsanda. Our new President should consult widely before announcing such sensitive positions. He shouldnt just look for ways to please individuals. He does’nt owe anybody anything but the Zambians who put him in office.King Cobra, please do a great job, an excellent job, stop pleasing friends and individuals.I’m fine with Guy Scott(a white Ngoni), Given Lubinda and Bob Sichinga’s appointments.Chishimba Kambwili has been misplaced in Foreign Affairs. You should have put him in Mines so he can rough around the investers. He is a Jerabo.Reyford Mbulu will definately neglect his constituence Kalulushi, being deputy minister.I know him.he cant do both.

  34. Hon Given Lubinda we have alot of faith in you and one thing is for sure you will not lets us down. you are the next Zambian president
