More than 600 pupils of Kawambwa Boys Technical High school who abandoned the institution after pupils rioted on Monday, have not returned to the school.

Only 180 of the pupils out of a pupil population 800 have reported back to school.

And Kawambwa District Commissioner, Ivo Mpasa says pupils that will not report to the school within 10 days should consider themselves suspended from the institution.

He told Zambia News and Information Services that although there was extensive damage to school property, the the institution will not close.

Mr Mpasa has urged all parents and guardians to urgently release their children who left the school when the riots broke out.

On Monday, pupils at the technical School rioted and destroyed property worth millions of Kwacha.

The pupils caused damage to the staff room, laboratory, science department, library, store room, dining hall and looted the tuck shop and the acting head teacher’s house.

This was after a group of them were stopped from taking part in inter schools games at Marbel shaw secondary school, after they consumed alcohol.

  1. to the author of this article your writing styles is rubbish. the story is so vague and you take forever to get to the point. what rubbish stop embarrassing Zambia please this crap is read worldwide.

  2. I look 4ward to the day Kawambwa boys will have displined pupils,no wonder the pass rate is vry low because of too much drinking and smoking.Though i stii love it has contributed to who i am.

  3. Take back the sober students who may have only run away through fear but by no means readmit the disrespectful destructive disgraceful rioting drunkards.
Take them to Court and claim damages and give their educational places to more deserving young people. [-(

  4. Reality will sink in when they complete their Grade 12s with poor results and will have no where to go. Its such a shame; people go there with a very poor perception of “naughty behaviour” is tantamount to being great at Chiwelele. In the end, they come out worse. That said, a few very srong people have managed from Kawambwa boys. Good luck bane

  5. Too bad; Kawambwa boys are known to be notorius. i rember when i was at BAHATI SEMINARY they stole our drum (Ingoma) in 2000 when we went for BUFFALO (ball games) that were held at their school.

    Let them be disciplined.

  6. why drink alcohol where there is tea.
Reality is waiting for you after G12.
You will be shocked at your results, then you will drink more and sink more.

  7. Us from Mungwi Technical Secondary School we used to be a problem, but now we are changed and born again twice nafuti nafuti

  8. Do not drink alcohol while at school, this is not acceptable and everyone should be disciplined and the Head, Deputy, senior teachers should be transferred to remote areas……….i do not support alcohol consumption with the pupils, period!

  9. Mob psychology at work. Reality will dawn on this boys realizing that being naughty doesn’t pay. The saddest thing is that they will realise when its too late. Wake up boys, u are in school to learn and nothing else

  10. Please don’t rehabilitate their Laboratory and other things they broke so that they have what they wanted…

  11. I am a proud product of Kawambwa and I hold a PhD. The boys were upset and the adminstration seems to be lacking. During our time, the Headmaster was Mr. Kawesha and we never had any riot.

  12. No 13, please stop lying, i doudt that you even have a full sch. certificate. The record of Kawambwa Boys is very strong. THis is the scholl which produced one of the most corrupt presidents in the world. FTJ and made Zambia suffer alot. May his soul rest in big pieces. Kawambwa is same as imbwa. They are the biggest contributer of the poorest results in Luapula Province, do not forget.

    • Am a proud product of kawambwa, not the best of the school but the strength  it has given me, not to give up is wot i will always take on board.Am now an engineer at heathrow airport. Don’t agree with the boys but its all down to the ministry of education they could have done better.Anyone who’s been through kawez will be sinning the same song. happy days!!! by the way i had a great time there man!

    • That school is great. I think its through ignorance that you claim chiluba as the most corrupt president. If you understand economy my dear you would not say that. well, the acion is not good but your arguement is equally shallow dear

  13. 14. I really like your blog.. very nice colors & theme. Did you design this website yourself or did you hire someone to do it for you? Plz reply as I’m looking to create my own blog and would like to know where u got this from. thank you

  15. Alcohol abuse is a terrible scourge in Zambia. Elders give a bad example to school pupils. I am sorry to read about a riot at Kaways caused by alcohol and other things. I was a foreign teacher at the school from 1968-72. Teachers and prefects at that time tried to be vigilant and deter pupils from wandering into drinking places, not always successfully. Really, a sober nation is a progressive nation. Faith power can work wonders. People should control drink; otherwise drink will control them.

  16. ba stupid u were bussy passing useless comments when u were not even there u should av asked me,,,,if u know u were@ kawezy and u got poor results(u failed) doesn’t mean can also fail the riot happened but managed 2 pass with flying colors
