Chief Registrar of Societies Clement Andeleki has de-registered the Mount Zion Spiritual Church in Zambia, a church whose Bishop was arrested in connection with the brutal killing of a NIPA student Ruth Mbandu, and the House of Joy international Church.
Mr. Andeleki has also de-registered the Zambia National Marketeers Association (ZANAMA) and the Zambia Traders and Marketers Association (ZATMA).
Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka this morning, Mr. Andeleki said the move to de-register the Mount Zion church is as a result of the controversy surrounding the church in the ongoing investigations of the murder of Ruth.
He said this is an opportunity for the church to prove its innocence in the matter.
And Mr. Andeleki said the two marketeers associations have failed to fulfill their statutory obligation of remitting annual returns and have also failed to serve the purpose for which they were formed.
Meanwhile, Mr. Andeleki has announced the birth of a new political party to be called the New Labour party.

this man needs to slow down. he needs to have his powers cut. The case has not gone to trial yet he already finds the church guilty
hE is over zealous… I thought thhe guy is pastor is a suspect helping with investigations. He innocent until proven guilty! What Happen to the law. Problem is that he wants to please people and his masters… I think he is destined for failure. SAD!
Maybe he should have allowed the church to continue in the mean time. This also would have provided an opportunity to gather more evidence from congrants. I think this will make it hard for law enforcement agents to work on the case.
If you recall the previous ruling, the Judge determined what Andereki did was within the law but he acted with unreasonableness. Which meant that the man has a problem with common sense in simple terms.
Should wait after investigations are complete. Being a suspect doesn’t mean guilty.
I understand the deregistration of ZANAMA – but tell me, the Zion Church – they have been de-registered based on suspicion?? Oh my God! That is terrible…!

But some how we need pipo like him seriously in zambia because zambians we take things easy, as for churches they should know dat in other countries if you dont pay statutory fees or pay taxes you can go to prison, so they should pay wats is due and respect the law.

Secondly it is totally wrong to deregister a church on the action of one person. Should the catholic church be deregistered because of the banking scandals in Rome.

Andeleki is building shacky castles on swift sand. He should have waited for the Courts to determine the circumstances under which Mbangu died rather than emotionally respond without any legal provisions in place. Any way, this is expected of all PF cadres.

On the contrary I agree with Andeleki. You would not be supporting such churches if Ruth was your sister. The registrar has a duty to protect the public from dubious organisations/churches. And when Archbishop Mpundu say the dclration as a christian nation is a fraud you insult. Now look what u churches u have. I am disgusted that people should be are up in arms defending a murder suspect self ordained bishop. Yes innocent until proven guilty but a true bishop ought to be so distanced from such brutal acts.
