National Restoration Party President Elias Chipimo said that there is need for politicians to change their selfish attitudes towards the people who vote them into power. He said this should begin by consulting them as key stakeholders when coming up with policies that have a bearing on their livelihood.
Mr. Chipimo said there is no careful analysis in the manner the Patriotic Front administration is handling policy changes. He said this is creating an unstable environment for investors to operate.
Mr Chipimo explained that what is happening now is a clear picture that the Patriotic Front did not have a plan for the country before coming to power.
He said Zambians gave the PF an opportunity to govern the country after being frustrated with the manner the MMD government was governing the country, hence the PF should learn from the mistakes of their predecessors.
Mr.Chipimo said his party will enhance the capacity of private citizens and the private sector in building the economy of the country once in power.
I WISH THEY CONSULT MANGADE. AS I SAID THE WORST TO COME IS THE CIVIL SERVANT WILL BE TOLD TO WAIT FOR SALARY INCREMENTS IN SEPTEMBER
Why is sata fearing hold press conference and take questions?
Answer: He knows his illiterace will be exposed.
I am shocked the man is hiding under the carpets He is only during elections. Who is running the country? Do we have a president? what is he doing? for who? when?
Sata is AWOL!
Elias I love your analysis over most issues. I just urge you that you avoid aligning yourself with these recycled politicians. We are fed back with the same faces moving from party to party maybe thats is we keep having the same problems because we they influence the leadership. Look for a new breed and take this country to a new level!
Ganda, I agree with you 100%
Did you consult the electorate when you accepted the Brazil trip? And how has you going to Brazil benefited Zambia.
You can not judge Elias by a single trip.to Brazil….its time to.move on and discuss issues that affect ordinary Zambians……Brazil trip is now water underline a bridge.
Ok! Now Mr. Chipimo am beginning to doubt you.
Every opposition leader now has a chance to make a name for themselves but careful what you say in the excitement.
Its not every time you must talk and all
I actually think he needs more visibility. In other words, talk more.
Article silent on what Mr Chipimo is referring to.
Its not practical for government to be consulting the electorate on all policy shifts.
Agreed that government needs to in a smarter way than it currently is.
Press conferences for what? A conference by Chella or Sakeni can do.
Major decisions, however, should not drop as surprises as in the case of subsidy removal on maize and fuel.
Pa Zed, dont be like that. I your home, will you accept getting all decisions made through your garden boy or maid? No. Your father being the head of the house has to address you. Presidents do this through press conferences. A president instills confidence in the citizenry by explaining policies through press conferences. Dont show your ignorance. Ask youself, how come he was all over Zambia addressing us when he was in opposition, but now he cant. Zambia has no father. We are sailing on auto pilot. Thats the fact. Cant wait for 2016. MY VOTE WILL COUNT!
Chipimo sounds wise but he is not aggressive, u need to reach out to the masses, the Kaponyaz, Komboni pipo who vote with emotions and without any analysis, reach out to villagers Mr Chipimo and above all, u need some image builders!!!
Chipimo sounds wise? For God’s sake some other politician already alluded to PF’ s lack of planning as far back as November 2011! Remember Chimbwi No Plan, CNP?
I completely agree with you. He needs a strategist.
This Chipimo fellow is also hopeless he condemned HH for saying exactly what he has said here!
Exactly what I have been thinking! Chimbwi No Plan we heard a long time ago!
They will support Chipimo because he is one of their own and not really on what he is saying. It is nothing new. It’s like saying David Livingstone discovered Vic Falls when there were people living there already.
The problem is that they forget that they used to kneel before us begging for votes and, ultimately, employment as legislators and as executives! They think by voting them in we gave them the whole treasury to spend at their pleasure – these black colonialists!
What Chipimo is saying just shows the luck of leadership skills in himself. CEO’s of big companies have tough decisions to make and they do not go around asking every shareholder what decision they should make, it is their job to make those decisions and that is why they were chosen. No country or company can operate if they have to ask and wait for response for every action they have to undertake, the govt has technocrats who formulate these policies and implement them. Many Zambian don’t understand fiscal or monetary policies and it will be a waste of time and resources to go around the country asking ordinary Zambians to contribute on the formulation of the policy. Tax evasion by multi-national companies should no be tolerated and all loopholes should be sealed and PF govt is doing…
@MK, agreed in parts but this company Zambia Limited hasn’t floated yet and most of the would be shareholders on our IPO will have nothing to offer to the company but born with shares already awarded to them whether above or underwater. Policy such as that implemented by PF on maize and fuel subsidies is a game changer and should have been introduced in phases. There would be an outcry if the Tories decided to completely do away with benefits awarded to the struggling families. We haven’t got any kind of social benefits for our struggling families in Zambia and now the subsidies that were keeping prices down have been taken away.
There is going to be a surge in many bad vices that we have somehow curbed or kept under control such burglaries, armed robberies as people try to make…
In a representative democracy we have allowed our leaders to make decisions our behalf. I thought Chipimo should know these basics.
