Barrick Lumwana reinstates 43 dismissed for watching pornographic material after the appeal process

FORTY-THREE out of the total 71 Barrick Lumwana employees who were early this month dismissed in connection with the pornographic film that was detected in the company’s computers have been reinstated back.

The 43 were reinstated following the appeal process in which 24 have remained fired after they lost their appeal case.

National Union of Miners and Allied Workers Union (NUMAW) president James Chansa who gave an update on the appeal case hearing said only four employees were yet to have their case for appeal head.

Mr Chansa said of the four, two were on holiday while the other two had not appealed against the decision to fire them.

“I can confirm that a good number of the 71 employees who were dismissed in connection with the pornographic film at Lumwana have been reinstated except for 24 who still stand fired after losing their appeal case,” Mr Chansa said.

He thanked Lumwana management for what he termed ‘mature’ manner in which they handled the pornographic film matter.

“When this case came up, we engaged management and they have been considerate to hear our plea and for us as union, this is what it means to dialogue,” he said.

Barrick Lumwana management on August 8, this year dismissed a total of 71 employees after they were identified to have been watching pornographic film on company computers.

The 71 employees included 40 junior staff with the rest being senior staff.

    • Why is it illegal to watch those films, distributing them I can understand. Dont get this twisted I have never watched those films at all though

      Thanks

    • @Mushota..you have never watched any of these films only because you make these films, you are a star in most of them!! dont pretend!

    • child: Daddy, why are you not going for work?
Daddy: I’m on leave.. (typical Zambian lie after a dismissal)

  1. Aint these the same pedofiles we read about? Imagine how scared i would get if i was their niece or cousin….. these F***s are sick in their heads they need help, who does that?

    • Do not be siilllyy! these Guys are normal guys ,just with a habit which can always be gotten rid of. Every one has some habits infact some of them are more wicked than what has been exposed i this case. So Shut it!!!!

    • You must have that same Habit how come you are all worked up? How do you think pedofiles and rapists begin? You should be checked becuse to me you are a suspect!

  2. Embarrassing: Imagine being fired for watching nonsense, instead of working???. What message are they sending to their children? These workers are Wicked.

  3. It was a terrible moment, most of the fired people came from the Process plant. The Process Manager is a racist who dont like Zambians at work but goes out with Zambian women employed at the process Plant. This man has injured a lot of people on site. We want him leave Zambia the soonest, he even boast that his degree is superior to Zambia degrees.
