Mighty reclaim Div 1 North leadership

Mufulira Wanderers reclaimed top spot in Division One North after beating visiting Gomes Wanderers 2-1 in a Week 20 tie at Shinde Stadium in Mufulira on Sunday.

Christopher Chola scored a late winner in the 89th minute as Mighty rebounded from a two-game losing streak to move to 35 points on the table.

Wanderers went into the break leading 1-0 thanks to Progress Kalenga’s first half strike that was cancelled by George Chisala minutes after the restart.

The Manfred Chabinga coached side takes over league leadership from Kalulushi Modern Stars who were held to a goalless draw by visiting Mining Rangers at Independence Stadium.

Fewdays Musonda’s Kalulushi dropped to second place with 34 points from 20 matches played.

Kalulushi’s town mates Chambishi maintained third position after battling to a goalless stalemate against Premium Sport at home.

Forest Rangers are fourth after a goalless draw away at Zesco Luapula in Mansa and are joint with Kansanshi Dynamos on 32 points apiece.
