Meanwhile, Nakambala fought back against Tigers to win after Ekvis Kataya had put the promoted side ahead in the 63rd minute.
Venecious Mapande equalised in the 74th minute before Sign Chibambo made sure of the three points with a stoppage time goal.
Nakambala move to 12 points, four behind leaders Nkana whose game away to Zanaco was postponed after the latter arrived on Friday from their Confederation Cup engagement in Tunisia.

VICE-PRESIDENT Inonge Wina
Zambia’s Vice President Mrs. Inonge Wina has called upon all Africans in the Diaspora to invest back in their respective home countries and be part of transforming Africa.
And the Vice President said Africa needs to address pertinent issues like infrastructure, human capital development and good governance to leverage its strengths and benefit from its engagement with the rest of the world, and unlock its latent potential.
Officiating at the at the 3rd Annual Africa Summit where she was invited by the London School of Economics (LSE) to deliver a keynote opening address under the theme: “Africa within a Global Context: Thinking Beyond Investments” on Saturday, the Vice-President said Africans in the diaspora needed to make a difference and invest in Africa.
“I must use this forum to call upon our brothers and sisters in the diaspora to invest back in their respective home countries and be part of the transformation. Evidence has shown that in some countries, remittances from the dispora far exceed aid received, and that shows you the strength that lies within us as a people. It is home grown investments by Africans across African borders such as Dangote group that will bring sustainable socio-economic development, I wish to reiterate my call to Africans in the diaspora to make a difference and invest in Africa, she said.
She said it was the home grown investment solutions that would deliver sustainable development for all.
Mrs Wina said Africans needed to start looking inward for home grown investment solutions to support diversification of its economies and move away from dependence on one or two commodities exported as raw materials especially in the face of volatility in commodity prices.
The Vice President said African Governments, were committed to providing an enabling environment and mutual benefit for the investors and local people to invest.
And she said Africa continued to face the challenge of inadequate infrastructure to support economic and social development initiatives.
Mrs Wina said that lack of proper infrastructure added to the cost of doing business in Africa, made African products uncompetitive on the global market adding that there is need for concerted efforts to mobilise resources for pan-African and regional infrastructure projects in Africa.
“In order to enhance the competitiveness of African products, there is need to reduce the cost of doing business, which is relatively high compared to the developed world due to a number of factors such as bureaucratic licensing and regulatory formalities, poor infrastructure and logistics and high cost of ICT. There is also need to address issues of non-tariff barriers and market restrictions that African exports are subjected,” she said.
She called upon scholars and researchers at the London School of Economics to come up with solutions that will deliver inclusive economic growth and development and appealed to the investors and businesses operating in Africa to be responsible corporate citizens and be a part of the transformation to uplift the living standards of the people in their areas of operation with particular focus on women and the youth.
“Africa remains a shining star even in an uncertain global economic environment because of the vast natural resources that the continent is endowed with. The challenge I wish to throw to you; scholars, academicians and researchers is to come with economic development models that will ensure that African natural resources are exploited in manner that benefits Africans,” she said.

Linda KasondeLaw Association of Zambia(LAZ) president Linda Kasonde has donated assorted items to foreign nationals based at Saint Ignatius Catholic Church with a call on the police service to thoroughly investigate those behind ritual murders in the country.
And St Ignatius Church Catholic Parish Father Charles Chilinda has paid tribute to LAZ for the gesture and urged other organizations to come on board and assist the victims.
Ms Kasonde said it is unfortunate that this un acceptable acts have happened in Zambia for the first time.
She said this today when LAZ donated assorted items worth K11 000 Kwacha to the displaced Rwandan refugees at Saint Ignatius Church in Lusaka.
Ms Kasonde said LAZ has decided to donate to the displaced people as a way of showing Justice, honour and integrity to the affected.
She also disclosed that LAZ will continue monitoring the situation with keen interest adding that next week, the law body will be seeking an audience with the Inspector General of Police over the xenophobic attacks in Lusaka.
And St Ignatius Church Catholic Parish Father Charles Chilinda has paid tribute to LAZ for the gesture and urged other organizations to come on board and assist the victims.
Fr Chilinda said the Church is pleased with a number of organisations which has come on board to assist the displaced families.
He said more need to be done in the area of assisting the victims before they taken back where they supposed to be within the country.
GOVERNMENT has instituted investigations into the burning to death of a Zambian in Tanzania on suspicion that he was involved in ritual murders in that country.
Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba said yesterday that Government had already contacted the Zambian High Commission in Tanzania to ascertain what led to the killing of 24-year-old Simon Sinkamba of Nakonde’s Ntindi village.
“We are investigating the matter, we have already gotten in touch with our High Commission in Tanzania to verify and get the actual facts on what caused the incident in Tunduma.
“We want to know what exactly happened; we want to ascertain the issue as to what led to that. As soon as we get that information then we will be able to pick it up from there as a Ministry,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr Kalaba has assured that despite the recent rioting and looting experienced in some parts of Lusaka, Zambia was still a haven of peace, which would continue co-existing with neighbouring countries and beyond for economic advancement.
Mr Kalaba said Zambians were peace-loving people and would strive to continue living up to that feat.
“We therefore wish to call upon all the people that are interested in investing in our country to continue because the investment climate is still very sound and secure and they should have no iota of doubt on their mind about the security of this country and the good intentions of its people,” he said.
Mr Kalaba clarified also that the rioting and looting on Monday and Tuesday in Lusaka’s densely populated areas triggered by ritual murders in Lusaka were not xenophobic as the rioters and looters had taken advantage of the killings to perpetuate their own interests.
Foreign nationals awaiting to be addressed by the UN Country Representatives at Kalemba Hall this morning
PATRIOTIC Front (PF) youths in Lusaka’s Kanyama constituency have teamed up to help preach peace and reintegrate foreigners back into the community.
The youth, led by PF aspiring candidate for Kanyama constituency Lazarus Banda, said they were resolved to implementing the presidential directive of accommodating, loving and protecting foreign nationals.
Mr Banda’s team, that also visited the St Ignatius Parish Kalemba Hall where most foreigners were seeking refuge on Friday, expressed happiness that records at Kalemba Hall showed that there was no Kanyama resident.
“I am urging other constituencies to emulate what we have done in Kanyama because we stand for peace and unity, and we only allow those charged with the responsibility to enforce the law to do so as directed by our peace-loving President Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu,” Mr Banda said.
He was optimistic that the wrong picture that was painted about Zambia because of actions of a few criminally-minded parsons would soon be rubbed off the face of the world and that the country should continue being admired as an example of an oasis of peace.
Kanyama PF youths on Friday donated food items and other materials to the affected foreigners at the parish.
Calm has since returned to the affected townships and President Lungu has reassured all the affected foreign nationals of protection, including their property.
A check by the Sunday Times at Kalemba Hall yesterday revealed that some foreign nationals had documentation to be repatriated back to their various communities.
Meanwhile, Kanyama PF youths chairperson Franco Mashunye has refuted allegations that appeared in some sections of electronic and social media suggesting that he had defected to the United Party for National Development.
Mr Mashunye, who accompanied Mr Banda, told the Sunday Times in a walk-in interview that there was no way he could leave a progressive party like the PF.

“…you have stayed long enough at this mountain.”
(Deuteronomy 1:6, NIV)
Move Past Your Mountain
Let me ask you, do you go out each day knowing that favor is already in your future? Or, have you gotten stuck in a rut staring at a mountain of disappointment, setbacks or difficulty?
That’s what happened to the people of Israel. They were headed toward their promised land. They had big goals and big dreams, but along the way, they hit some setbacks and had some disappointments. They got so discouraged that they gave up on their dreams and just settled where they were. One day God said to them, “You have dwelt long enough on this mountain.” He was saying, “It’s time to move past this and embrace the blessing in your future.”
I believe God is saying that to each one of us today. You’ve been where you are long enough. God is saying, “This is a new day. Get your fire back. Where you are is not where you’re supposed to stay.” If you’ll be determined to move past your mountain, He will lead you and empower you to live in favor and blessing in every area of your life!
A Prayer for Today
“Heavenly Father, I give to You every area of my heart. I give You my questions, my disappointments, my doubts and fears. I choose to trade my sorrow for Your joy. I choose to press past my mountains so that I can embrace the promises You have in store for me in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
President Edgar Lungu with Mr Harry Kalaba foreign affairs minister at NEPAD Summit
Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba has again cautioned veteran politician and diplomat Vernon Mwaanga against issuing statements that have the potential to injure Zambia’s relations with its neighbours.
This is after Mr Mwaanga described Mr Kalaba’s reaction to his comments over reports that a Dubai based firm which was implicated in the Uganda election rigging scam had been awarded a tender to print ballot papers for the general election in August as childish.
Dr Mwaanga told election stakeholders in Zambia to verify facts that the Dubai-based company called Al Ghurair, which the Electoral Commission of Zambia has selected to print ballot papers for the August 11 general elections, was the same one that printed ballot papers for the controversial elections in Uganda, some of which were reportedly pre-marked.
But Mr Kalaba wrote to Dr Mwaanga on April 20, threatening that the government would not protect him if the Ugandan government decided to prosecute him for making reference to some electoral issues currently being contested in that country’s courts.
“I wish to express to you sir, the displeasure and disappointment of the government of the Republic of Zambia on the recent remarks attributed to you as reported in the Saturday Post Newspaper of 16th April, 2016 entitled ‘Watch ECZ.’
“It must be stated that the naming of a sovereign state in an internal matter relating to the political process in that country, whose facts are before its domestic courts, and have not been fully verified was highly regrettable and unwarranted especially since it came from a person of your stature and standing in the practice of diplomacy and international relations,” Mr Kalaba wrote.
In response, Dr Mwaanga said he was very disappointed and angry with Harry Kalaba’s childish and immature way of dealing with issues and his meaningless threats.
Dr Mwaanga charged that Mr Kalaba had a childish approach to handling issues.
“Hon Minister, I have received your letter dated 20th April, 2016, concerning the printing of ballot papers by ECZ in Dubai. I am very disappointed and angry that you held a press briefing and made remarks before verifying what I had actually said. My statement was in writing as always and I expected you to verify what I had actually said. I have been a chief election observer in Uganda and have established very strong links with its people and civil society.
All I was saying is that there is information available on blogs and websites in Uganda containing information about dictator Yoweri Museveni which required ‘verification’. What is wrong with verification? I am a consummate diplomat, I choose my words very carefully,” Dr Mwaanga stated.
But below is Mr Kalaba’s latest response to Dr Mwaanga’s statement
Dr. Vernon Mwaanga’s personal attacks
Good morning Zambia.
I am yet to receive the letter from my elder brother Dr. Vernon Mwaanga which he has, however, circulated on social media and the Post Newspaper of today.
Based on the content of what I have read in the papers, Dr. Mwaanga has for one reason or the other felt offended by my earlier advice to all political players in the country to refrain from issuing statements that border on Zambia’s relations with other countries.
Dr. Mwaanga indicated that he was angry with me for the stance I took to censor his public statement concerning the purported printing of ballot papers in Dubai and implicating the Sovereign State of Uganda and he has gone on to label my actions as being childish and immature.
He has also pointed out that it was his democratic right to engage in any discussion and hold any opinion on national matters and that my advice or concern over his statement was a baseless threat.
I wish to inform the Nation that the PF Government will continue to uphold our long cherished values of respecting and protecting freedom of speech and individuals’ rights to self-expression and information.
But at the centre of that freedom should be responsibility, self-restraint and patriotism.
Freedom of expression cannot and should not be allowed to crowd our judgement and impinge on our collective responsibility to respect the Sovereignty of other Nations.
It was not my intention, direct or indirect, to question Dr. Mwaanga’s right to verify where the ballot papers will be printed.
The focus of my advice to my elder brother was that given his stature in our country, he has added responsibility to censor his opinions that may easily be interpreted as reflecting the opinions of the country.
In the era of modern diplomacy, we have ceased to rely on war-words to settle disputes and the art of self-restraint has not only gained its momentum, but also forged a new world order that heavily hinges on people who can handle awkward situations without upsetting any side.
A seasoned diplomat like Dr. Mwaanga knows that this country can derive the utmost benefits while retaining national dignity from both his experience and his measured indulgence in public discourse.
I personally would not expect him to shun from his responsibility to patch up the rifts caused by his publicly expressed opinions.
Dr. Mwaanga’s experience in the International arena ought to have equipped him with all the necessary knowledge required to understand that while indeed, most people can be trained to be career diplomats, excellent ones share some qualities that boarder on patriotism, sober language and patriotic adaptation.
Patriotism is always glorified in international diplomacy because the patriot thinks first of his country and later of himself.
A sagacious diplomat like Dr. Mwaanga cannot show greater passion for his motherland than by carrying national interests through his speech and self-interrogation.
In this regard, a great responsibility rests upon our statesman, not only to enjoy his right to self-expression and right to information, but also to maintain the confidence and trust of the people of the world and forge international relationships that focus on the growth and peace of our land.
In the recent past, Dr. Mwaanga has visited my office thrice and he has throughout encouraged my youthful dynamism and nodded my performance.
I have cherished his encouragement and contribution to our country’s diplomatic endeavours but when his actions and words collide with the interests of the country, I have a duty to bring that to his attention and if doing so is an act of childishness and immaturity, then I am inclined to doubt my elder brother’s intentions for our land and consequently left perturbed by his desire to straddle the middle stretch of the political see-saw.
As the current appointed top diplomat of our land, I cannot allow unsupported insinuations that meddle in the affairs of other Nations and that are not based on factual information but rather on unproven blogs and media sources.
Dr. Mwaanga himself has stated in his statement that his source of information is certain blogs and websites in Uganda.
A statesman of his stature and standing cannot be expected to put the reputation of our country at risk on the basis of such unreliable sources of information. This is like going to war armed only with a bunch of teaspoons.
As I have said before, the Government of His Excellency Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, remains committed to international diplomacy, good governance and the rule of law and we will ensure that these elections which my elder brother is so worried about, are conducted in a manner that is free, fair and credible and conducted on a level playing field.
Elections are won or lost on the basis of ideas and the character of those tasked with explaining those ideas to the electorates.
In the PF, that is what we have chosen to base our focus on.
We are united in projecting the good values of our land to the outside world and we have been tenacious to highlight what we have been doing since we came in power. That’s what has the potential to win us the next election.
Zambia is renowned for her democratic and diplomatic credentials and the PF Government remains fully committed to maintaining these standards.
We may not be everyone’s first choice, but we are a great choice. We may not be perfect, but we need not be because only Christ is perfect and our perfection may only be judged on the basis of our passion and intentions for our people.
And as for me, I cherish positive criticism whether it comes from one of my kind or from the opposition. I cherish the ideals of collective wisdom and value the attributes that I can only have by learning from others.
That’s who I am. Take me the way God has made me or watch me as I walk away because God advises me not to sit in the counsel of those not propagating his agenda.
Authorities at Choma Milling Limited have effected a Four Kwacha (K4) reduction on the retail price for a 25kg bag of Mealie meal.
A Check By ZANIS at Choma milling branch in Mazabuka , today, found the commodity now selling at K75.
The reduction on the price from K 79 to K 75 per 25kg bag of breakfast mealie meal follows an ultimatum that was issued by Agriculture Minister Given Lubinda Yesterday.
In his directive, when he paid an impromptu visit to a Choma milling outlet in Mazabuka where he learnt that a 25kg bag was selling at K79, Mr. Lubinda called for a reduced price on the commodity.
The Minister later directed authorities at the milling company to sale the commodity at the recommended price.
He threatened that failure to reduce the price within two hours would lead to his ministry cancelling the contract awarded to the company for it to buy subsidised Maize from Food Reserve Agency.
And Patriotic Front Mazabuka Constituency Chairman Mabvuto Mutolwa in an interview said the intervention by the Minister has cheered many Mazabuka residents.
Miles Sampa pays a courtesy call on Mwata Kazembe at his palace in Mwansabombwe recently
Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa has applied to the Registrar of Societies to change the name of his political party from Democratic Front to United Democratic Front.
This was after the Supreme Court confirmed the de-registration of the Democratic Front.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the High Court decision to quash the stay of execution that had sought to allow Sampa enjoy his rights to continue running the DF.
But in his application to the Registrar of Societies on Friday, Mr Sampa has submitted that the party symbol and colours still remain the same.

VETERAN politician Vernon Mwaanga has said that he could not emphatically state whether the key voting materials for the Ugandan general elections in February this year were printed by Alghurari Printing and Publishing House, a Dubai-based comapny.
Speaking when he featured on Radio Pheonix “Let the people talk programme” yesterday, Dr Mwaanga said he did not claim that the Ugandan ballot papers for the February general elections were printed in Dubai, but his comment on the matter was that there was need to verify reports that the ballots for the Uganda general elections could have been printed in Dubai.
Dr Mwaanga was quoted by the Post Newspaper last week that it was a fact that the Alghurairi Printing and Publishing House was the same company which printed ballot papers for the Uganda 2016 elections.
Dr Mwaanga was also quoted as having said that the ballot papers for the Ugandan general elections landed in the wrong hands and that some of the ballot papers were allegedly pre-marked.
Dr Mwanga said: “It is a fact that the Alghurairi Pringing and Publishing Plc is the same company which printed ballot papers for the Uganda 2016 elections which landed in the wrong hands in Uganda just before the elections amid allegations by opposition parties and civil society organisations that the Government of President Yoweri Museveni kept printing additional papers. Some of the ballot papers were pre-marked in favour of Museveni according to testimony which was presented in court when Museveni’s re-election was challenged by opposition parties.”
But yesterday when asked by callers on the programme to substantiate his claims, Dr Mwaanga said he had only advised stakeholders to counter check and ascertain whether Alghurari Printing and Publishing House was the one that printed the ballot papers for the general elections in Uganda.
“My comment in my statement was not that the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) should not print the ballots in Dubai but that stakeholders should verify if that was the company that printed the ballot papers for the Ugandan general elections. Dubai is part of the United Arab Emirates and does not hold elections. Why then print ballots in a country where there are no elections. The bidding process for the ballot papers is different from any other because it involves more than 15 million Zambians,” Dr Mwaanga said.

UPND president Hakainde Hichilema has overruled his vice-president for administration Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba’s threats that President Edgar Lungu would be stripped of his immunity and sent to jail along with Daily Nation proprietor Richard Sakala should the opposition party form government after the general elections in August.
Mr Hichilema has differed with Mr Mwamba over the culture of vengeance, vindictiveness and retribution declaring that it would not be the pre-occupation of the UPND once in Government to embark on a crusade to hunt down President Lungu should Zambians give him the chance to govern the country.
“we will not arrest him. We will give him safe passage,” Mr Hichilema said.
Mr Hichilema alleged that the PF was conspiring with the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to manipulate the August 11th elections by deliberately scheming to deliver the ballot papers late in the opposition party ‘strong holds.’
Mr Hichilema said that the party had carried out some research and had information on how the ECZ would rig the elections in a similar way it was done in some African country.
“We have done some research and we have got the data. They want to print ballot papers in a suspicious place like it was in some African country. They want on the voting day to delay to bring ballot papers in Lusaka by 12:00 hours. Now, that is playing. When we talk, they say shut up! But is ECZ your mother’s company and who is Pricilla Isaacs?
He said he had a letter the ECZ wrote to one of the bidding companies giving reasons for not selecting them alleging that some PF officials were in Dubai to prepare the printing of the ballot papers.
“We have the data and we are not talking from without. The company whose letter we have met all the requirements such as the weight of the ballot paper, experience and that the rejected company bid US$1.6 million while the Dubai company had a bid of US$3.5 million. And we say no to the expensive bidder,” Mr Hichilema said.
On Tuesday former president Rupiah Banda has advised that no political party should aim at forming Government to unduly execute retribution and vengeance on its citizen but rather to cultivate a sense of unity and cohesion after taking over leadership,.
He said the culture of political vindictiveness, vengeance, retribution and pure political hatred should never be allowed to be nurtured because such vices had only achieved persecution against selected citizens in the country.
Mr Banda said the continued threats by the UPND that President Edgar Lungu will have his immunity from prosecution removed if the opposition political party formed government after the August general elections had the potential to create tension during the election campaign period.
Higher Education Minister Michael KainguHigher Education Minister, Micheal Kaingu has advised United Party for National Development (UPND) president, Hakainde Hichilema not to politicise what was happening at the two highest learning institutions because there were administrative bodies in charge.
This follows Mr Hichilema’s 30 day ultimutum given to Government in which to lift the suspension of students who were protest ringleaders at the University of Zambia (UNZA) and the Copperbelt University (CBU), leading to the closure of the institutions.
Dr Kaingu said Government had nothing to do with decisions made at the two institutions and called on Mr Hichilema to base his political campaigns on something else.
“I would like to advise Mr Hichilema to stop issuing statements on UNZA and CBU and making threats to the Government because it does not interfere with the institutions, they have managements that make decisions on how they are run”, Dr Kaingu said.
Mr Hichilema said if Government failed to lift the suspensions, he would reinstate the students after August elections.
“I am giving the Patriotic Front (PF) Government a 30-day ultimatum in which to lift the suspension of UNZA and CBU students failure to which I will call on the students to boycott class for three months until August when I become president and reinstate the suspended students”, Mr Hichilema said.
Mr Hichilema said the students had done nothing wrong in demanding their meal allowances and that Government should not suspend any student.

CARITAS Chipata has advised President Edgar Lungu against adopting some of the current serving Members of Parliament (MPs) who recently endorsed his candidature in the August 11th general elections.
Caritas Chipata Good Governance Programmes Coordinator John Zulu said in a statement yesterday that Caritas Chipata was shocked to see a number of failed MMD MPs parading themselves at a Patriotic Front (PF) rally held in Chipata giving indications that they were popular in their respective constituencies and pledging support for President Lungu in this year’s elections whilst not.
“The opposite is the truth, most of the MMD MPs in Eastern Province especially from among those who paraded themselves have no support to offer to Edgar Lungu but instead they actually want support from Edgar Lungu in order for them to bounce back in Parliament,”Mr Zulu said.
He said people in most constituencies in the province were not happy with most current sitting MPs adding that few deserve re- election into Parliament.
He said some MPs who have lost popularity want to ride in the name of President Lungu to get re-elected into parliament during the general elections.
Mr Zulu said this was a timely warning to all political parties who want to recycle Parliamentary candidates to consult widely on the grassroots before they finally adopt candidates.
“Political Parties must put in place adoption processes that give equal opportunity to all aspiring candidates and do not allow corruption to take charge of the adoption processes.
Some of the current MPs have nothing to talk about apart from Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects that are a sign of a failed MP,”he said.
He challenged those who want to be re-elected to tell the people what they have achieved during their five year tenure in office.
He said some MPS had even failed to visits their constituencies to conduct assessment of developmental needs of the constituency with stakeholders in the constituency?
