Patriotic front president Michael Sata has described Movement for multi party democracy MMD President Rupiah Banda as a big crook.

Mr. Sata says that president Banda wants to get credit for the initiatives that he has not initiated.

He says that president Banda should not cheat Zambians that most initiatives are a brain child of his presidency.

Mr.Sata speaking at a rally in Masaiti Boma to drum up support for his presidency and the aspiring parliamentary candidates ahead of the 2011 elections, says that it is surprising that president Banda wants to get credit for the things he has not worked for.

Mr. Sata cites the issue of Ndola stadium and other developmental projects that have been initiated by late president Levy Mwanawasa, to which Mr. Banda wants to get credit.

The patriotic front president further stated that president Rupiah Banda has tolerated investors who are running mines in the country.

Mr. Sata alleges that because of corruption, most companies running the mines do not respect the Zambian workers.

And Patriotic Front Munali aspiring parliamentary candidate Nkandu Luo Nkandu Luo has doubted Zambia’s chances of having free and fair elections.

Prof.Luo says that president Rupiah Banda is so desperate to the point that he is intimidating every Zambian.

In an exclusive interview with QFM radio, she stated that the MMD has failed to provide level playing field for all the political parties.

MMD deputy national secretary Chembe Nyangu has said that the MMD will sit down with Chieftainess Nkomesha after the elections to see how best the two can resolve their differences.

Mr. Nyangu said that if what is being reported in the POST Newspapers is true, the party will see were they went wrong for reconciliation.

In an interview with QFM, Mr. Nyangu though stated that he is not in a better position to comment on the matter as he is still studying it.

He however said that even though it was Chieftainess Nkomesha’s democratic right to belong to any political party of her choice, she should not intimidate her subjects by threatening them on who they should support.

Mr. Nyangu said that her followers also have a democratic right to support whoever they choose to support.

And Former Movement for Multi party Democracy (MMD) chairman for elections Mike Mulongoti has said that it was shameful that Republican President Rupiah Banda could attack Chieftainess Nkomeshya in public.

Mr. Mulongoti said that this showed that the MMD presidential candidate has no respect for the elderly in the country.

Mr. Mulongoti wondered why he had vented his anger on the two women of Chongwe district because of the difference in political opinion.

He said that immediate past Member of Parliament Sylvia Masebo and Chieftainess Nkomeshya do not deserve to be hated by the president because they are opposed to his leadership.

Mr. Mulongoti said that president Banda should accept that he has lost support in the country, stating that time for the MMD to leave office has come.

Mr. Mulongoti explained to QFM radio that intimidation and threats the president has engaged in will not help the party win this years elections.

He has further advised Ms. Masebo and the Chieftainess to remain firm, and not to be threatened by the MMD leadership who are desperate to retain power.

President Rupiah Banda says some political parties are questioning the electoral process in the hope of advancing for a government of national unity.

And President Banda says he will therefore not accept to form a government of National Unity with any dull political Party leaders.

Mr Banda says some political parties know that they will not form government and want to confuse the Zambian people by questioning the electoral process.

He says those questioning the electoral process know that this year’s elections will be free and fair but still want to champion violence, in the hope of forming a government of National unity.

The President has called on all politicians taking part in the September 20 general elections, to work hard and let the people decide what they want.

Mr Banda has urged Zambians to denounce violence during the election period and only encourage peaceful polls.

He was speaking when he addressed a meeting for government heads of departments, the business community and the clergy in Livingstone on Saturday.

Mr. Banda asked people of Livingstone to vote for him and other MMD candidates in order to continue with the unprecedented development that the country has recorded.

And MMD National Secretary Major Richard Kachingwe urged workers in the country to scrutinise the Patriotic Front manifesto.

He says the PF Manifesto may not mean well to workers because it clearly states that civil servants will be headed by party cadres instead of technocrats.

He says the PF also PF plans to nationalize all the industries once it comes into power.

He further says the business community will risk bringing back socialism if they voted for the PF.

And former Parliamentary Chief Whip Vernon Mwaanga has called on all peace loving Zambians to guard jealously the peace that the country is enjoying.

He says Zambia has become the envy of the outside world because of president Rupiah Banda’s sound economic policies and the peace that it enjoys.

Mr Mwaanga says with the participation of the civil servants and the business fraternity the country’s economy has continued to grow.

And United Liberal party president Sakwiba Sikota says president Banda deserves another term in office because he has delivered on his 2008 campaign promises.

Printing of ballot papers for the September 20th general elections has been completed in Durban, South Africa.

A total of Sixteen Point Five Million Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Government Ballot Papers collectively have been printed.

Universal Print Group-UPG-Projects Manager, Vik Vaid has disclosed saying, loading of the ballot papers will start on Sunday, 11th of September, 2011.

The printing of the ballot Papers commenced on the 16th August, 2011.

The ballot papers will be flown directly from Durban to Lusaka on a MD-Eleven Charter Cargo Plane on Tuesday, 13th September, 2011 and are expected to arrive by mid-day.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has reminded all political parties and other stakeholders that the campaign period which began on 29th July 2011 will end on Sunday 18th September 2011.

ECZ Senior Public Relations Officer, Sylvia Bwalya says the political campaign period will end at 18:00 hours on 18th September 2011.

She says to this effect, all media bodies, public and private organizations, and individuals should not publish or broadcast political party or candidate campaign information after 18:00 hours on September 18, 2011.
