The MMD in Kasama District want the party National Executive, NEC,to expel former Finance and National Planning Minister, Ng’andu Magande, from party immediately.
MMD Kasama Central Constituency Chairperson, Nathan Ilunga, said the party in the District was in full support of the petition by MMD youths in Lusaka calling for the expulsion of Mr. Magande from the party for alleged indiscipline.
The MMD youths in Lusaka are demanding that Mr Magande be disciplined for aligning himself with individuals, who were issuing disparaging remarks against the party and its leadership.
Mr. Ilunga said expelling Mr Magande from the party would help facilitate investigations of his alleged involvement in the financial scandal at the defunct Zambian Airways.
Mr Ilunga accused Mr Magande, who is also Chilanga MP of not being a genuine member of the ruling party.
The party in the district also accused Mr Magande of habouring anger after President, Rupiah Banda, defeated him for the position of MMD presidential candidate last year.
He vowed that the MMD in Kasama will continue to rally behind President Banda’s leadership so that he could instill discipline in the ruling party.
Mr. Ilunga has since urged President Banda to deal firmly with MMD officials who were exhibiting insolence to the ideals of the party.
Yesterday, MMD National Secretary Dr. Katele Kalumba revealed that the NEC received a petition from MMD youths in Lusaka, calling for the expulsion of Mr Magande over his alleged involvement in the Zambian Airways saga.
Recently, the MMD expelled Katuba Member of Parliament, Jonas Shakasufwa, and Mpulungu MP, Lameck Chibombamilimo, from the ruling for alleged gross misconduct.

This Magande saga is a tragedy that has for long bedeviled the Zambian political landscape. Like the old adage goes, you cannot teach an old dog new tricks, the same goes for Banda. Falling into the same pitfalls Chiluba fell into does not move us forward, it if anything takes up backwards in major leaps and bounds.

Taking precedence from the Dora Siliya case, investigations in Magande issue can go smoothly without interferance from Magande.those calling for his suspension are mere bootlickers and jobseekers.they are jst displaying their ignorance and idiocy.however,if that is how RB is running his adminstration then i would advise Magande to resign.

MMD is not personal property of a few chaps. In fact, I’m sure the number of MMD members who agree with these calls to expel others are in the minority. Mr N. Magande stay in the MMD up to 2011 until something happens – either good or bad for you. If they expell you, you know where to go even though the Undereducate has invited you to join the divided PF, which is inhabitable as they are always chasing people who do not agree with the Undereducate MC Sata, according to MUVITV news.
Let those who dirty trciks do them, but be constistent for the future is bright for you. Just remember how President RB Banda CLAIMED that he will keep you as Minister just to win votes a few days ago. He seems to have forgotten that he is President because he used your good name. I wonder why we always have such political cadres. Prior 1991 we had Kamalondo et al assuring KK that he will win the elections. We’ve had Chiluba harrass KK & William Banda. Later we had Sata, Nakawala, Chawinga propping up FTJ for a 3rd term. We had MMD quickly prop up Regina Mwanza from no where to become national chairland and travel with Chiluba all over the world. The list is endless. All these people took Zambians for granted. But history shows that such people end up on the losing side.

We should revisit our electoral system. This democracy is not working for zed. How on earth did we end up with a president like chi Shriek? Majority of voters in zed are desparate- amofontini, and we say the majority wins. We should adopt an electoral system fit for our situe to ensure we can scrutinise and sieve our candidates until for the first time twakwatako president wamono, maybe he/ she can bring some sanity.
