Scorecard: Faz Freezes Warriors, Nkwazi Promotion

Share

The race for promotion in Faz Division 1 South has taken a bizarre twist after Kabwe Warriors and Nkwazi’s promotion were both put on hold and referred to the Faz disciplinary committee.

This follows walkover results in the final Week 24 games in the matches involving Warriors, Nkwazi and demoted Zesco Shockers home games against Luena Buffaloes, Kascol Rangers and Chipata Young Stars respectively.

Luena, Kascol and Young Stars all failed to travel to fulfill their final week league obligations.

“Football House has referred the issue of some Week 34 first division games to the Disciplinary Committee which will determine the status of these fixtures,” Faz communications officer Erick Mwanza said in a statement.

“The decision of the DC will therefore give direction and finality to the final league log of the Division I South League. These fixtures are Nkwazi vs Kascol Rangers, Kabwe Warriors vs Luena Buffaloes and Young Stars vs Zesco Shockers.

“The Disciplinary Committee will be in session at Football House on Friday 9th November 2012.

“This decision has been taken in order to ensure that the spirit of competition and fair play which is enshrined in the FIFA Fair Play Code is upheld.”

Warriors and Nkwazi’s walkover wins in particular will draw greater interest.

The walkover wins would have seen Warriors still finish top but on 71 points while Nkwazi would have ended the season in second place on 69 points.

The freeze affects Nkwazi the most, who following the announcement, drop back to third behind Kafue Celtic who finished the season on 67 points.

Celtic is run by Faz executive committee Lee Kawanu.

  1. You forfeit the game and points are awarded to your opponents when you fail to travel. Nothing like fair play here, chipolopolo got points from Uganda for fielding a banned player why didn’t you
accept your loss and let Uganda keep the 3 points. Fair play my foot only when it suits you.

  2. There is corruption in Football and it is good FAZ are starting to work. But the guy who runs Kafue Celtic is equally a crook and is behind all this. He is good at buying Teams, refs and everybody in the Football fraternity knows. I know he bought his way into FAZ Exeutive through bribery.

  3. This is good for football, because you can not ignore other people’s feeling as well. The disciplinary committee will hear the reason why the two teams failed to honour their week 24 fixtures. If they are found at fault they will be punished in terms of docking off points from them and some money to be paid as well. Its not just the rule of thumb remember a good precedent has to be set for the future generations.I have no problem with the decision taken by FAZ so far and this was supposed to be the way in the first place.Let us wait and see before we start condemning even the right thing.Die Hard Kalampa Supporter No Matter what.

  4. Ba FAZ, you are trying to block Andrew Kamanga not Kabwe warriors. Just give them what us due to them. Kalu us very corrupt.

  5. Iwe no. 1, Zambia did not get points from Sudan automatically. They were severly fought for and it took several months before FIFA dicsiplinary committee could decide. However the penalties for defaulting teams are clearly laid down even in FAZ. But they wont just penalise without studying the case. May be they know something we dont. As for Warriors, they will still play super division. The doubt is on Nkwazi.

  6. I can smell Kafue Celtic playing Preimier leaque football next season.Let someone hurry to finish renovations at Kosa stadium, home ground to Kafue Celtic.

  7. This incident did not just happen in week 24 or whenever. It sure has happened in the course of the season (teams failing to fulfill fixtures). What did FAZ do THEN? That should be the precedent ah! Please…..
