The continued absence of members of parliament in Northwestern province at the ongoing Provincial Constitution Convention in North western Province has become a source a concern by delegates.
The convention which kick started yesterday in Solwezi has not been attended by any member of parliament in the area but was only represented by Patriotic Front MP for Mufumbwe Constituency Stephen Masumba who officially opened the event.
Commenting on the absence of the MPs, Professor Patrick Mvunga who is a member of the technical committee drafting the constitution said there was need for their presence of the MPS because they are law makers who also represent people from their constituencies.
And Chairperson of the technical committee on the draft constitution Annel Silungwe said that word was sent to Parliament to allow the affected MPs to attend the convention and that a response was still being awaited.
The convention whose objective is to among other reasons, examine and deliberate clauses of the draft constitution and to also consider the report of the technical committee has attracted more than 200 delegates from the Province.
Also present were Chieftainess Nyakulenga, Senior Chief Kanongesha and Chief Majimanjovu all from North western Province.

What is the new constitution for if it does not cover the wishes of the masses and instaed the president and his minions? It is better to stay away. It is just a waste of billions of kwacha. Again we will be talking about reviewing it when there is a sane government in place.
