The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) says the internal wrangles that has rocked the MMD is because it is not a political party but a movement and anybody can be a leader.
PF Lusaka District Chairman Goodson Banda says only PF and UNIP are genuine political parties whose leaders founded and rose to become Heads of State.
Mr Banda said Dr Kenneth Kaunda formed the latter United National Independence Party (UNIP) and formed government in 1964 and President Michael Sata who is Patriotic Front (PF) leader founded it and formed government in the September 20 polls last year.
Mr Banda was speaking in Lusaka yesterday when he addressed scores of PF Youth members drawn from different branches namely Chainda, Kaunda Square, Mtendere and Munali.
He said embattled MMD leader Dr Nevers Mumba who has questionable character should not be blamed for leading the MMD because it is a movement which has been led by so many leaders.
“PF is a political party not a movement like the opposition MMD which has been led by so many people hence the reason why it is slowly dying,” Mr Banda said.
The former ruling party, MMD has since been led by the late Dr Frederick Chiluba, the late Dr Levy Mwanawasa and the immediate past Mr Rupiah Banda.
And Mr Banda said PF has no party cards because the leaders and its members are known unlike the opposition political parties that have questionable members and character hence they have party cards.
He said the PF under President Sata has started bearing fruit and urged the youths in the country to align themselves with the PF manifesto to benefit the young people in its ambitious programmes.
The PF Lusaka District Chairman advised the youths to desist from rushing to the media but utilize all the established channels of communication any time they had grievances.
Mr Banda said the PF wants disciplined youths and will not condone indiscipline in the party because it wants to lead by good example and respects the rule of law.
And speaking earlier, PF Munali constituency Youth Chairman Daniel Miyambo urged the youths to be united.
Mr Miyambo said much could be achieved if party members remained strong and united.

When it comes to policies and governance MMD was far much better than PF.. UNIP & PF are very similar in that they make people que to get their commodities.. Yesterday i had to park my car & jump on a bus(with a pathetic 20litre container) to go get fuel in chingola since there was none in chililabombwe. To me PF & UNIP are failures not genuine political parties as you have put it Chairman. PF root go deep into UNIP

First of all PF need to change their party logo to one that represents their values and principals. The current logo looks like a party still campaigning to win an election. “The boat” should really be “The Canoe” or Kayak. PF and UNIP are not political parties because UNIP has proved that without the people that formed them, they become extinct. This seem to be the pattern of Zambian political parties because our politics have been based on brain washing rather than affiliation by the values in which all Zambians believe in. PF will go the same way without it’s esteem leader.Â

Kaunda did not found UNIP, and I wonder of all the issues, instead of telling these youths something constructive, he was just talking about MMD. What a sheer waste of time chi Banda, I am sure all those who attended must have been bored. We are tired of talking about other political parties, let us talk development not ifya bupuba. I am getting irritated now, is because the PF have nothing to tell the people? I think they have nothing to tell their cadres. Go to MMD they will tell you what they have done, what they want to do, what they will do. Not ifyamba fye from the top to the bottom kaponyas. They think UNIP has members and they can merge, it will not work, you have already blundered. Especially that you are trying touch the anointed of God you will see what is going to happen.

When Chiluba became president we were blessed with Inshonkonono ishingi through out the country, when Mwanawasa became president we were blessed with Ubowa and Ibondwe through out the country, when president Banda became president we were blessed with Ifishimu no ubowa like never before, you can go to the market in June, July aug Sept and still find ifinkubala on sale. it is true that the devil you know is better than the angel you don’t know.we thought PF would redeem us from the dirty claws of bad governance MMD was exercising.To my surprise,the more money in your pockets has only fattened the government officials’ pockets on the expense of the general public.and by the way,can someone update me with winter’s corruption case.when is he going behind bars? i thought PF exercised rule of law.
