President Michael Sata has advised Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) President Nevers Mumba to put his act together and perform his mandated role as an opposition leader.

Reacting to claims by MMD President Nevers Mumba that the ruling PF was behind the recent troubles that had engulfed the former ruling party, President Sata , in a press statement by his Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations George Chellah, advised Dr. Mumba to put his act together and perform his mandated role as an opposition leader.

“Baseless and wild accusations against the ruling party and the Government, is in itself a mark of a failed leadership. Thus, let my dear brother be brave and face these self-inflicted problems,” President said.

He said as outsiders, the PF can only watch, sympathise and wish Dr. Mumba well as he struggles to stabilise the once vibrant and progressive political party.

The President reaffirmed the PF’s commitment to deepening democracy, equality and respect for the will of the Zambian people.

Mr. Sata emphasised that Government has already facilitated an atmosphere where Zambians in their diversity, including all political parties, were enjoying various rights and freedoms as stipulated in the laws of the land.

The President also dismissed assertions that the Patriotic Front (PF) want to introduce a one-party state in the country.

The President stated that no one within or outside the PF will ever advocate for a one-party state.

He said history has taught the nation that multi-partism has been the central part of all political transitions that the country has ever experienced.

He said as custodians of the Zambian people’s interests, the ruling PF will therefore attempt to debate democracy and the already existing multi-party system of governance, time wasting and a mischievous excuse by some politicians to taint the reputation of the PF as well as divert Government’s attention from more important issues.

  1. well spoken…but y is it that when other people like nevers mumba want to tour markets and meet their electrorates, they are arrested by the police…UPND has been denied permits by the police.so what is the president saying…

  2. The President and the PF are quick to respond and react to opposition and NGOs statements but are ever silent on most important issues that affect us such as
    1. Shortage of mealie and cement
    2. Youth unemployment
    3. Kabimba raping of ACC
    4. High poverty levels
    5. High number of ministers in gvt
    6. Barotse wrangle

    • 1. TEMPORAL SHORTAGES WHICH ARE BEING ADDRESSED. 2.YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT TAKES LONG TO ADDRESS AND IS BEING ATTENDED TO. 3. KABIMBA IS READY TO BE INVESTIGATED BY ACC. IF THEY HAVE EVIDENCE THEY SHOULD HAVE PRODUCED IT BY NOW. 4. POVERTY IS A LONG TERM PROBLEM. WILL BE SOLVED IN DUE TIME NOT IN ONE YEAR. 5. THAT ONE IS NOT AN ISSUE. 6. BAROTSE WRANGLE IS A NON-STARTER. LITUNGA DOES NOT EVEN SUPPORT THIS NONSENSE.

    • Being with creating of districts, chief meetings and swearing in of hired ministers instead of also telling the nation what they plans are.Where is this country heading to?Now we have been attacked by army worms

    • Ba Chisenga, dont support because His excellence is Bemba. The President should come out in the open to tell his stance over Barotseland, he himself said he was a Linyungandambo and would fight tooth and nail to make sure Barotseland was liberated…these are the questions should be asking your Uncle?

  3. Ukwa is the last person Nevers should ever get advice from.

And why is he not addressing the accusation but instead tries to offer unsolicited advice?

    • Ukwa won from opposition to incumbent, did he not? Who do you want to take advice from? Someone who can not win an election?

    • No, poor reasoning on your part sir. Ukwa wants to stay on so he will not give Nevers the correct advice to depose him.

They say you have to ‘think outside the box’. If you are at frankfurt airport and want to travel to Zambia, please do not go where you arrived from go to the departure side, forget the arrivals since that will be your return trip, is that clear.

  4. please spare us of your cheap rhetoric talks that doesn’t amount to anything but lies: u can manage to lie to many but not to some of us

  5. PLEASE FOOLISH CHELA DONT RUSH TO COMMENT ON EVERYTHING UTTERED BY OPPOSITION – IT SHOWS US THAT YOU AND YO PRESIDENT DONT HAVE BRAINS AND DONT HAVE WORK TO DO. PLEASE COMMENT ON AND SOLVE THE ARMY WORMS, FUEL SHORTAGE, BICKERING OF YOUR MINISTERS, CHIPOKAS THEFT, KAPOKOS AQUITALS AND WHEN GOVERNMENT WILL APPEAL ETC. ACTUALLY THIS SATAS IS LIABLE OF MANNY CRIMES SUCH AS OBTAINING MONEY BY FALSE PRETENCE – BY FALSELY PRETENDING TO CHANGE THINGS IN 90 DAYS

  6. Zambia is growing and our Politics need to grow too. Working together and providing meaningful criticism is always good for a democratic society. Bearing in mind the rule of law despite our religious affiliations.

  7. #2 the Party and its Government is well ontrack to resolving the minor challenges that you have listed. We are awaiting the rebased budget, whihc is not only pro-poor, but will create more jobs and reduce poverty. Priority for now is water in hospitals, and a good job was done at UTH. i however dont agree with your point #3 on Wynter Kabimba. Wynter can not and should not be treated as an ordinary man considering the great things he has done for the nations. Many of you nitwits have forgotten President Sata honoured PF Secretary General Wynter Kabimba for his professional legal advice regarding various bodies and local government authorities as well as his contribution towards the first Draft Constitution. If the President can honour him, who are you to castigate him.

  8. This is very true king Cobra. The opposition in Zambia is very disappointing the only thing they know is making alarming statements in the hope that us the masses will have compassion for them.Nobody won elections by taking advantage of peoples emotional sympathy. What a bunch of losers.

    • Thats exactly how PF won the elections. How dare you forget so easily? There is no advise given here. It is as usual tailored to mislead die hard PF Zealots. Anyone who has an independent mind will read through this with great nostalgia. Nevers you are right and dont listen to these tired arguments. The politics of Cha cha cha are with us. Until the Pre Independence team gives way to new blood, we will continue experiencing them. well done Nevers.

  9. The president is right. This Pastor Mumbwe’s own making. Running a church and a poilitical party are two different things. If you fail to run a chaurch how can you run a political party?

  10. The MMD should have known better. Who does not know Nevers? Listen to Kachingwe and Namugala. Kick out the man of cloth before it is too late .

  11. Is our president serious? Its like there expect Nevers to comment after coming out of jail. Please Sata, chellar mature that office is high.Could it be we have a low calibre of leadership in plot 1.

    • @tom what kind of thinking is that? you mean you havent heard all the accusations these guys are hauling at the presdo and the govnt over their misfortunes? they are in comflict with the law yet they say its the president. let them respect the laws and do what a good citizen would do.

  12. A govt of twisters who only respond to.politics but give a deaf ear to issues of mealie meal, cement, load shedding, exchange rates and so many other issues thats why they are a govt of liars, for the liars,by the liars

  13. Where is the Patriotic Front Spokeperson? Chellah is The Republican Presidential Spokesman and not Patriotic Front spkesman. Learn to draw a line!!!

  14. “Baseless and wild accusations against the ruling party and the Government, is in itself a mark of a failed leadership. Thus, let my dear brother be brave and face these self-inflicted problems,” President said.´´He said as outsiders, the PF can only watch, sympathise and wish Dr. Mumba well as he struggles to stabilise the once vibrant and progressive political party.´´

I like that though I know that the OLD MAKAAY(Sata) has everything to do with it .Next time, I? debating I will definitely use these lines!

  15. Sata and those speaking for him are jokers. Are the hypocrity who say something and yet do something else. Their words do not much their actions.

  16. The general feeling so far is that the opposition (upnd and mmd) is disorganised, disoriented and out of touch to many issues affecting the people – so far they have shouted on the roof top cnp cnp! but with no plan of their own to remedy the situation – sata has failed sata has failed goes the daily song but the other song is not sung – what zambian are crying for is an alternative programm to the one cnp has or seem not to have – this will amount to puting their act together.

  17. I find it interesting that the whole lot of 7 guns can respond to Mumba when when have other pressing issues to take care of.I wonder who voted this CNP,day by day i get disgusted by what i read.Dear bloggers even PF synpathizers, advise you president to put forward a statement that he has lamentably failed to Govern.Kaingo said it and am saying it,Ba Chella, time will come remember Richard Sakala, hope u r careful.everyday bla bala bala bla bla….makes me sick

  18. Haters: BBC says Katongo named 2012 BBC African Footballer of the Year! Go Zambia, go! Hee worked very hard. His achievements particularly when he played in Europe went unnoticed and overshadowed by “big leagues” coverage of Spanish, English or Italian football! Yet if you look at his footage in many youtube videos, you will notice that he was the unsung hero living in the shadows of great players like Drogba etc! Gob bless Zambia and thanks BBC!

  19. Zambians are given to loose talk and wild accusations. Mumba fails to see that he is why MMD is in such trouble. Instead, he blames everyone else. By the way congratulations to Christopher Katongo!!!!

  20. # 22 and # 28 demonstrates why a human being is a crazy being. Both are convinced what they are thinking is the best way.Funny
    .

  21. Correct me if I am wrong. The BBC claims that Katongo is the first person from Southern Africa to be crowned BBC footballer of the year. I thought Kalusha had won it before. Is there an equivalent FIFA award as well?

    • Kalusha won the African player of the year given by CAF and not the BBC. The CAF African Player of the Year can be considered to be more prestigious than the BBC African Player of the Year because the former is awarded by the continent’s supreme football governing body. And Kalusha won the African Player of the Year in 1988 while the BBC title was only introduced in 2000.

    • Caf African footballer of the year is different from bbc African footballer of the year. Kalu won the caf and he remains as the first and only in southern Africa just has Chris. Caf does its own and Bbc its own. Hop u cleared

  22. Ba mumba I dont blame u 4 the pending demise of mmd.I blame the pipo that brot u on board.Yo so called victory ministries was very powerful but 2da if u look around its nowehere 2 b seen.In yo quest 2 become popular u want on 2 form yo own political party it failed 2 leave a mark and went in2 oblivion.Ba pastor I think u have bad luck so I suggest you try something else like maybe being a head teacher of a nursery school.

  23. This is crap! What freedom is Sata talking about when he is instructing police to arrest innocent people? Police would not come to your rescue when you are being robbed at home but they have time, transport and petrol for harmless citizens!!!

  24. Surely, Brother Nevers should long for the shape of things to be true to their form. The bitter winds keeps on growing colder, they are dancing with his pride, the chip on Brother Nevers’ shoulder is bigger than a mountainside. Continue wallowing in the mire of complacency Bro, these are the politics you desired, l pray you go back to where you belong, where hunger for vegence gives way to repentance, where love will teach you to see.

  25. It is ridiculously appalling to see how busy the president’s press secretary is trying to respond and excuse the president from every issue raised against him. It means that the president does not take kindly any criticism against him hence he is always itching to actually REACT and not respond to what people are saying. If these people at plot 1 are busy working surely they wouldn’t be releasing statements everyday reacting to criticism by people and organizations that are watching and marking their actions.

  26. The way some pipo comment, its like they are ready to go to the doldrums praising pf. Why did pf hire Cifire and Ziba? Sata is trying 2 mix Chiluba matrix and kk concoction and Im afraid it wil back fire

  27. i find it strange that sata now has a remote mouthpiece in the name of Chella. for someone who loved attention so much that he would go round with a contain trying to buy fuel when ever there was even a mini fuel shortage. i wonder what goes on in his head. obama yesterday today visited newtown spoke to a congregation about the shooting that what a president does just to calm a situation. in the mist of all the problems you are facing in Zambia he is fixated his development ideas on never. cant you pluck a leaf from the young obama. hold a press conference address real issues instead these RAP BATTLES that you seem to address everday leave that stuff to xwz and Marky 2. who ever said the older grow the wiser you become clearly never lived anywhere near this man.HOLD A PRESS CONFERENCES

  28. Ushukweto ulubilo abepesha ukuwa our Br Nevers got all wrong he wanted to use the same strategy used by HE MCS.PF is very popular it’s just a handful of Zambians who did not vote for PF are complaining.Shortages has been there

  29. number 9, i think u don’t know want you are talking about,a government that is serious cannot bring out a budget in un rebased currency and here you saying we should wait for the rebased budget, whats in your head. the government is busy responding to the critic form NGO and OPPOSITION than addressing real issues, all what we are saying is let Mr Sata solve meali meal shortage, load sheading, arm worms, water shortage etc
you were praising kabimba for what, what  has kabimba done to be honoured, it’s was a fake honour coz he is a friend to sata, a lawyer without a traceable victory in his life as a lawyer, fake fake.ladies and gentlemen, let us be specific in life and what we praise.our families back home are suffering back home and you busy praising the government shame on you, critices

  30. The moment an article is attributed to Sekani or Chella, one should know that it’s a bunch of lies aimed at political spin. Everyone that is speaking out, can’t be wrong and just throwing “wild and baseless accusations” at the Govt and the PF. Some of these NGO’s and some churches were openly supporting the PF, but it’s one very clear for all to see that this Govt does not mean well. Poaching of MMD MP’s, Kabimba’s performances, abusing KK, to add to the issues already mentioned…one wonders why or indeed how power speeds up selective thinking and amnesia.

  31. A dead cobra what a president who respond so fast to his opponents,
    Shortage of mealie meal
    Youth unemployment
    Kabimba raping of ACC
    High poverty levels
    Pipo shot anyhow

Sata talk is cheap act now!!!!

  32. I like what the president has said, you have to work hard in order to make a mark you dont expect to win an election without being focused, democracy is the game for politicians in zambia

  33. # 40 Kalusha Bwalya won the CAF and FIFA African Footballer of the year which is different from the BBC Footballer of the year Award. The African Footballer of the year award is yet to be presented and it is regarded in higher esteem than the BBC Footballer of the year.

  34. # 9 it seems you worship PF and Winter. My friend nothing will change for the better under PF. They are so obsessed with power that they can not think any more. Rebased kwacha will just be like the current Kwacha, so what is the fuss about it?

  35. Yaba, the opposition will again blog all the way to 2016! More despondence after 2016! Nevers is definately bad for the MMD, I really believe that Mutati or Situmbeko would have held this party better.

  36. Mr president put your act together and act like one PF is having diarrhea and your just mute show leadership instead of pointing out opposition issues mop your closet first
