Three Nkana players get Zambia call-ups

Share

Three Nkana players have been drafted into the Zambia team preparing for Saturdays 2014 world cup qualifier against Lesotho.

The trio comprises defender Christopher Munthali including midfielders Kelvin Mubanga and Sydney Kalume.

“We want to see them and want to see how they can perform with the Chipolopolo and on top of preparing for Cosafa and if they are good why not with the Chipolopolo,” Zambia assistant coach Patrice Beaumelle said.

The trio impressed Herve Renard on May 25 in Nkana’s 2-1 win over Zambia in a training game at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.

All three meanwhile, joined camp on Monday morning after returning to the Copperbelt on the same date from Lusaka where they had beaten Nkwazi 1-0 24 hours earlier.

    • What about goalkeeper is he too short? It could have been best to use all Nkana vs Lesotho, coach Zeddy Saileti (the man behind this success).

  1. Finally an article about Nkana without any malicious terms like “Warriors Embarass Nkana”, or “Nkana beat Nkwazi through unusual circumstance”.
Love them or hate them, KALAMPA belong on the throne of Zambian soccer. A successful Nkana translate to national success

    • What about zesco players?Like it or not the hottest team in the past 4 weeks is zesco.Scoring 14 goals in 4 games.the players are in top form.Let us use zesco united in the game against lesotho, simple the results will be 4-1 in favour of zesco period.

  2. Nothing wrong with this. In fact, am reminded of one of our KK 11 team coaches when I was young who used to picked his team from Green Buffaloes, Kabwe Warriors, Rokana United (today’s Nkana) and Mufulira Wanderers, based on the success of their team combination at club level, e.g. the whole defence from the club with the best defence in the local league, midfield from the club with the best combination in that dept, and likewise with the strike force.

  3. One Ngwee, at one time we were supplying Zambia with the two “natural wingers” Moses Simwala and Brighton Sinyangwe and a center forward Bernard Chanda. Occasionally we could give them Stone Chibwe from the midfield as well.

    • Bakalamba, those were the days. A win against teams like Lesotho, Malawi, etc was always guaranteed, the only thing we’d not know ahead of the match was By what margin… But now, awe sure!

  4. Favour Favour iyo mwayimona? tiye tiye kalampa boys!Sate sate is also in the making.its just a matter of time.

  5. Masautso Mwale is the Coach of Nkana, and his tactics seem to be working. Sydney Kalume is a cool player, I knew he was going to get a call up to the National Team one day. Former Zanaco Star.

  6. I wont be suprised if “Leaner” calls more players to camp on friday (a day before the match). The coach has no idea of which right material is needed in the national team. Lets wait and see….

  7. I watched Nkana against warriors, i was convinced by the guy sitting next to me who was telling his collegue that Kalume was playing two numbers his usual no 5 and that of no 8 as the number 8(Mwila Kabwe was off form and that is the case im most games. Its true sidney is harworking. Also no. 3 Zimba,he dribbles mwe, ichilata was always going wild whenever he was on the ball

  8. Plz HR read this. ZESCO UNITED is on fire.Check your record on the past 4 games zesco played.Look at the combination of midfielders and strikers, then look the goals scored and the goals allowed.scored 14 allowed 3.this means that even the defence is doing very fine.I am not suprised u picking players from Nkana reason being that u are used to getting draws in a game or a 1-0 win just like Nkana.USE ZESCO PLAYERS FOR BETTER RESULTS.

  9. Stubborn and arrogant Herve Renard seems to be confused now.He can’t seem to find the right players for the game against UNDERDOGS Lesotho.Herve Renard should be asked to gracefully resign or face the humiliation of getting FIRED if Zambia fails to beat UNDERDOGS Lesotho!!!

  10. Thank #13 Chanda for the updates. We hope our team will go back to the real team of yesteryear. Football is made at Nkana! Ask Joshua Longwe, Dominic Mutale, James Jengela, Jericho Shinde, Mordon and Kenneth Malitoli, Kelvin Mutale, Yellowman Mulenga, Fighton Simukonda, “Abaleya Jerusalem” Golden Kazika, Beston Chambeshi, awe itimu lyacalo kalibwele!

  11. Sydney kalume vs sinkala…… Kwashala evra zimba… Chrisju munthali wat wr ba power thinking anyway twatola for him, kelvin mubanga mukali umwaiche

  12. I have precious little to comment on the players selected because havent watched them for sometime to make an informed idea. I have alot to comment though on “Herve Learner” to quote EX ZIt hereabove. So as late as now the coach is still calling players for trials? Are we going to select players based on one game and because in that particular game it is the national team they beat?
I personally wish the national team the best so that we beat Lesotho hands down but can the coaching bench avoid such needless theatricals.
