Central Province permanent secretary Edwidge Mutale has urged heads of government departments in the province to show seriousness towards work.
Ms. Mutale said she has observed that heads of departments often reported late for work, an attitude she said the Patriotic Front (PF) government will not tolerate.
ZANIS reports from Kabwe that the Permanent Secretary said this when some heads of departments reported late for a budgetary meeting in the boma conference hall, today.
She pointed out that government workers should observe punctuality not only for meetings but even for their routine works.
Ms. Mutale warned that she will not sit back and see government workers take things the way they wished but that she will ensure that
all civil servants provided the much required services to the people.
She observed that in some cases she has observed that people requiring service are not supposed to kept waiting for officers by the offices simply because the officer is late.
Ms . Mutale further warned that workers who think they were employed for the sake of it, they have it wrong.
The permanent secretary called for self supervisory among heads of departments for them to perform effectively.
“Be conscious of time. Respect time and you should work to succeed. You should know that your requirement is to attend to the people, “ she said.
Ms. Mutale reminded the heads of departments to go back to the drawing table and check what they are required to do.
At first glance i thought she caned them in the actual sense not figuratively. She is right the attitude toward work of these government workers leaves much to be desired.

2. If i keep on coming late,then know it that ihave crane eted employment for some one only that you dont want to let me go.
It is work as you earn! So you don’t know?
If you need translation for what she said, then you are probably not Zambian.

Negative point to fail to fulfil the punctuality is the disorder of our public transport especially in Lusaka its terrible. Let the GRZ come in and put things in a proper way. Pay them their dues, then you will find and leave them at work, when you are payed right, respected and appreciated for your works, no one will force or drag you to do what you know you are supposed to do, this is an indication that there is a problem within the organisation. Next time dont use figurative speach, i was looking forward to seeing that picture of a grown man in a suit being spanked!
