And President Michael Sata says he remembers late cardinal Mazombwe as being among the many devoted clergymen who provided spiritual leadership at defining points.

Cardinal Mazombwe 81 who suffered from cancer was put to rest at Cathedral of the child Jesus grave yard in Lusaka today.

In his homily while leading the congregation into the funeral service of Cardinal Mazombwe, Cardinal John Njue from the Archdiocese of Nairobi in Kenya described the late as a good shepherd that led its flock very well.

Cardinal Njue said that the church has to continue with the work that Cardinal Mazombwe did while he was alive.

ZANIS reports that Cardinal Njue was speaking in Lusaka today during the funeral service of late Cardinal Mazombwe.

He said it is unfortunate that the church has lost a good shepherd at the time they still needed his services.

And President Michael Sata says he remembers late cardinal Mazombwe as being among the many devoted clergymen who provided spiritual leadership at defining points.

Mr. Sata added that the late cardinal provided excellent leadership qualities when he represented the church by playing a critical role in ensuring that peace prevails in the country.

The President said this in a speech read for him by his Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda, at the burial site.

And the Apostolic Nuncio Julio Murat has described the death of Cardinal Mazombwe as a great loss not only to the country but the entire church.

“The Mother Church has lost a very hardworking servant of God who dedicated his life to God,” said the Nuncio.

He noted that Cardinal Mazombwe was chosen by elected as Cardinal by Pope Benedict the sixteenth because of his hard work and dedication to Christian life.

And Chongwe’s St Paul Catholic Church Priest Gabriel Mwanamwalye said he will remember the late Cardinal as a man who lived his life based on three qualities.

Fr. Mwanamwalye named the three qualities as Punctuality, Fidelity and reliability.

He noted that if the leaders in the church could emulate late cardinal Mazombwe the church will continue from where he ended.
