Beaumelle defends decision to drop Kalaba

Share

Zambia coach Patrice Beaumelle has explained his recent decision to omit midfielder Rainford Kalaba from the Chipolopolo squad to face Egypt this Thursday.

Beaumelle’s decision to snub Kalaba comes weeks after the TP Mazembe midfielder and his club mates Stopilla Sunzu and Nathan Sinkala missed Zambia’s friendly against Brazil.

Mazembe claimed that the trio were not fit for the Brazil friendly a development that angered FAZ.

Beaumelle said no one was indispensable in the national team.

He ,however, indicated that Kalaba was still part of the national team.

“Rainford is still part of the Chipolopolo like everybody I have to make a choice who has to travel with this squad,” he said.

“I chose that because I want to see some boys it is good also because nobody is Indispensable. He is still part of my plan but I repeat we have to serve Chipolopolo. It is a good massage for everybody,” Beaumelle said.

“We have to be proud to wear the jersey I know Rainford is proud to wear the national jersey.”

  1. Good move Beaumelle! Atleast you are showing signs of making continuous improvements, especially on your predecessors errors- Kaizen is good, even in footie

    • It is not politics…..kalaba was the Ring Leader of the Mailoni Brothers…….Therefore, a lesson and a message has been sent for bad behaviour.

  2. I like this guy, I really, really like him. Sometimes assertiveness should take centre stage. This confidence and courage can now rub on to the players.

  3. I like what this coach is doing so far. not the result of course but his system of play. he wants to show that he’s his own man and not living under HR’s not so impressive shadow. Jealous down HR is doing a satisfactory job @ Sochaux. Mayuka scored a superb goal yesterday and should have even won a penalty if not for the ‘blind’ ref. talk of a Zambian player on fire currently.

    • And Southampton are top flyers in the Premier where Mayuka is supposed to have remained rubbing shoulders with other exciting players.

  4. You have made a very good decision. No human being is irreplaceable. In fact we do not want the Mailoni brothers from TP Mazembe they have become too complacent which is very detrimental to football and cannot be tolerated any more. Guys humble yourself and you will be lifted up. Go Zambia Go !

  5. Good for Mayuka but he seems to tick well in France while at home lacking the drive to put the ball at the back of the net…..Patrice ,is he the caretaker or head coach?- i dont even know the teachnical bench staff pliz can anybody enlighten me?
Lookinmg forward to Thur match mind you Egypt is no push over!

  6. There is nothing wrong Kalaba has said and this kind of behavior where a player brings out concerns and is not selected will not take this coach anywhere. When Kalaba said they were unfairly treated, he was not talking about FAZ or the coaching staff but the immigration department.

Of course these may be used as an experimental game for young stars but it has an impact on the rankings and if Kalaba was left out due to competition in the team, then I want someone to tell me who is in tip-top form among the players paraded so far to get Kalaba’s position.

It is sad that Zambia is good at cerebarting mediocrity; two games played, two losses and someone says he is a good coach? The chap is just like any PE teacher without any technicallities in him, lets face it!

  7. Please people, Clifford Mulenga is finished. He cant even command a place on the bench at his new club. We watch PSL matches every other day and Clifford is nowhere to be seen. Zambia has younger players with immense talent. Let us concentrate on those rather than chaps who wre given opportunities but blew them away.

  8. @ prodigal, in as much that rankings are important, it is important to develop and focus on the future. The coach has integrated the old and the new. How will know and develop other talent if he keeps playing the same people? Kalaba also had a first day one time and was developed to what he is today.
If you watch English soccer, they use such games to give chance to others.

  9. Well said Steve, People like prodigal are very retrogressive.

Kalaba is growing in age and one day he will hang his boots. We had the likes of Kalu, Charles Musonda etc as very brilliant footballers. Where are they? They have hanged their boots and you can’t force them to play football now so will Kalaba one day.

In addition football is a risk game in terms of injuries and what will happen when Kalaba is injured and you have important games to play?

Well thought coach. You have my support on this one. Expose as many as you can in such important friendly games. Playing to impress fifa ranking is not important for the development of football in Zambia,.

  10. Ukuitutumuna tekusuma, we have seen humble but highly skilled world class players….Drogba, Etoo, Yaya etc. BA Kalaba Ba professional Ku Lubumbashi…owe mayo!

  11. Which game have you won without Kalaba-International competitive game!!

Bumulle, we shall float the Job don’t be so exited.
