Share

Sports minister Chishimba Kambwili has described the death of ex-Chipolopolo star striker Dennis Lota as shocking and sad.

Lota, 40, died on Tuesday in South Africa after a short illness.

He was an assistant coach at South African side Moroka Swallows.

“I have learnt the death of Dennis Lota with shock and sadness. His death is a big blow to Zambian football,” Kambwili said.

“We followed his coaching in South Africa and he was doing well. We have lost an icon and a legend,” he added.

FAZ president and soccer icon Kalusha Bwalya described the ex-Orlando Pirates player as a humble and dedicated person.

“I have been deeply saddened by news of the passing on of Dennis Lota – my striker partner; a team player, a humble and dedicated colleague who served the country with distinction,” Bwalya said.

And Swallows said:”It is with shock and profound sadness that we inform the football community of the sudden passing away of our assistant coach Dennis’Chesa Mpama’ Lota last night from malaria.”

  1. I have been waiting for some PF to start MOURNING achievers. Thank you Kambwili.
Those PF didn’t even bother to help KK & President Chikwanda during the funeral of Ambassador Banda-mulamu-KK.
You were busy chatting with remourseless Sata who is in hiding, nichi ba PF tamufwa.

    • @Nostradamus
indeed President chikwanda did a great ku funeral ya ba Ambassador,,, and wynter was loudily absent, but wynter!! the man tenda mu fililo, wait his day is coming..
The man who used to be helpful in funerals is GBM,, now he is suspended pending deportation to south africa
Do know if Denns Lota will be accorded a national mourning also??

    • @Ndobo, Not only that Kabimba is worse than Sata in funeral absenteeism, but also a worst insulter to the dead.
At Sakani’s funeral Kabimba in his black-sun glasses, promised Sakeni that he will NEVER-EVER attack GBM and the 2 hugged, the good-shepherd Kabwili is my witness. At Kabimba’s burial, I will be the one with a shovel passing soil to people to flow in-there..

    • @ Haisontele Heka
      Read Carefully:

“”Sports minister Chishimba Kambwili has ”

Sports Minister is a politician. Right?

  2. Lota contributed NOTHING to zambian football but full of confusion, their were better strikers than him but i dont know why the coach used to select him , the man was a ka short , PINT sized and stout running faster than the ball, like a headless chicken. Anyway toobad he died young MHSRIP of fake football

    • @anyokoYour comments are out of line.If you have always had a grudge against Lota why did you have to wait until his death?
If you say there were better strikers than him at that time then why didn’t they sign for PSL or better the English premier league?
The fact that the South African club Swallows appointed him as an assistant shows he had talent. How many Zambian football players have been football professionals in other countries and now are taken on by their clubs?Just a handful and Lota is definitely among them.
Please if you don’t have anything good to say, just keep your views to your self.

  3. Kambwili dont just mourn him.As govt make arrangements to bring his body into the country. The govt is saying they wont help but rememver this is a man that has helped to brinv glory to our country. The family is planing to go bury him in south africa. It shouldnt be.

  4. Nostradamus your english is so poor to read. Just use bemba or something. I dont blame you but we need to communicate and yours brings headache in trying to comprehend what you writing. You must be bemba, dull and ugly. So sorry!!!

  5. Dennis Lota’s sudden death is really shocking. Those of us who follow and love Zambian football can confess that Dennis continued to be our country’s pride even after his retirement from active football. I have no doubt that Zambia will mourn this fallen great son of its soil with deserving honour. MHSRIP.

  6. Though not among the Zambian best, you were good. You had your great moments for Zambia and we will cherish those. Your name was a household name when at your peak. I remember you guys coming from a game in Jamaica and there you were spotting an overnight dreadlock! I also remember watching you not so long ago, on a very polarised Supersport panel analysing a game involving Zambia at the AFCON. No one gave Zambia a chance, but like a true Zambian you stood for your country and the subsequent results vindicated you. Farewell countryman. you have made a mark on Zambia’s soccer history.

  7. Mushota is a foolish moron who hides himself in self denial by pretending he is a lady when even the most blind person can tell he is a man from the sound of his speech. Just stop bogging and concentrate on your gay status if that is what serves you right than wasting out time posting stupid comments.

  8. @ mushota are you zambian?ubwafya ukuchona kwabene.@142 walilwala iwe.sports minster or ministry is a government position, its a public office.it has nothing to with politics.learn to differentiate the two bwana.

  9. words can’t express how sad i feel, but there is nothing we can do. I pray for the family’s strength in these trying days. R.I.P Dennis we shall greatly miss you. Who knows with the experience you were gaining as assistant coach you would come & coach chipolopolo.

  10. May God bless you my brother. You brought honour and joy to our country. Denis rest in peace you have done your tour of duty.
