The Football Association of Zambia wishes to formally announce the appointment of television and radio personality Mr. Nkweto Tembwe to the position of Communications Manager taking over from Erick Mwanza who has been seconded to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
General Secretary George Kasengele said today that the appointment of Tembwe comes at a time the FAZ Secretariat was undergoing a transformation period following the appointment of Marketing Manager Nchimunya Mayinga last week.
“Nkweto has joined the family of football having been involved with the game on the periphery but has now joined the mainstream and has already hit the ground running in view of the international friendly match against Uganda this Wednesday.
“We are confident that he will be able excel in his new role of charting the communications strategy of the Association in the same manner Erick was able to do by becoming the voice of the Association and being the buffer between the Association and the media.” Kasengele said.
The 41 year old Tembwe has previously worked for the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC), Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) and National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA) joins with a combined work experience of 22 years.
‘Ba Nkweto’ as he his popularly known said his ambition in his new role is to pick up from where Mwanza left and help uplift the standard of football in Zambia.
He said: “I consider this a challenge which I am prepared to take on and assist the Association in any way possible. A lot will be expected of me but my involvement with football goes way back to when we staged the famous Diramba protests during the era of the now banned Winson Gumboh.
The FAZ General Secretary thanked Mwanza for having been a loyal and dedicated servant of the Association in the five years he served and wished him the best in his new role at the continental body.

I remember him from Radio 4 Fan Club in the 90′. Some of us started work at 18 after grade 12 exams. Now i have 12 years combined working experience.

Finally Nkweto has been paid for defending Kalusha resolutely when it became apparent that Kalusha was mismanaging the resources at FAZ,enganging in bogus deals with NIKE,pocketing monies from friendly games and gate takings!He went around with Mumbo and Zite masquerading as football experts!Shame to zambian football administration!It has really gone to dogs or is it dogs that have come to zambian football administrations? Ba Jamaica, he started work just after finishing grade 12, at school he was a morning announcer on the radio(Matero Boys Secondary School has those facilities),he did his professional course while working at ZNBC.
