A 17 year old boy of George Compound in Lusaka has pleaded guilty to theft of motor vehicle in the Lusaka Magistrate Court.
The teenager, who is a grade 11 pupil from unknown school in Lusaka, is charged with one count of theft of a motor vehicle contrary to the laws of Zambia.

It is alleged that the teenager on February 11, 2014 stole a Toyota corolla registration number ALB 9827 property of Wireforce.

When he was asked what he intended to do with the vehicle, he said he wanted to move around with it but got stuck with the vehicle along the way and therefore took it to Muchinga Police Post and packed it there.

He told the Lusaka Magistrate Court that he did not report to the police anything about the vehicle.
Resident Magistrate Boniface Mwiinga, who is handling the matter, recorded a plea of guilt and set March 11, 2014 for facts.

Magistrate Mwiinga said a social welfare report should be brought to the court on that day.The juvenile offender is on police bond.

  1. Probably the police where only interested in the K 5 they charge for parking there. you cant get surprised if you hear stories of the police taking cover in their own backyard( Manda Hill)

    • sleepy police! where were the police? where they in parliament again urging with opposition MPs??
smart 17 years old boy,, now my boy put your skill to good use not stealing

  2. WIREFORCE is a name of somebody or company name? POLICE will dispose of that vehicle by public auction and the boy set free because he parked it at the fastest developing province in ZAmbai MUCHINGA POLICE POST

    • Exactly, it was not theft as such he just wanted a joy ride. He is a juvenile and he should simply be sent for social counselling for him to start understanding and respecting property that doesn’t belong to him and maybe some community service.
Parents stop teaching children below the age of 18 how to drive because they are still too young to control their urges.

    • Reminds me of a hacker; was just having a thrill. Give those boys computers, for Pete’s sake, so they can do something else with their brains 😉

  3. conversion not amounting to theft of cap 87 would make more sense. He desrves a chance to better himself.

    • Nakabalika, I agree with you and I suspect that the court has already amended the charge, hence the boy is on police bond, however, this article being by LT, it lacks full comprehension as usual.

  4. It is interesting to hear that the boy is on bond! Is stealing a motor vehicle a bailable offense? Or Unbailable applies only to to some people. That chap is a criminal treat him the way you can treat any other person. Young as he is has courage to drive away some one’s car, whether at police post or from any where! He will become a worse criminal when he grows older because already he has started exhibiting the skill in him!!
