Shepolopolo exit World Cup with victory

Share

Shepolopolo have exited the 2014 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup with a 2-1 victory over hosts Costa Rica in Tibas on Sunday morning.

Zambia came from behind to beat Costa Rica and collect their first points at the Under-17 Womens World Cup.

Sofia Varela gave the hosts a 3rd minute lead after connecting a pass from play-maker Gloriana Villalobos.

However, the lead proved short-lived when Grace Chanda equalised for Zambia by finishing a cross after eight minutes.

Defender Maria Araya gifted Zambia with an own goal beating her keeper with a back pass.

The two teams were seemingly heading for a draw before defender Maria Araya made a regulation backpass beating her goalkeeper Yolian.

Zambia had 18 shots at goal while Costa Rica recorded 11.

Meanwhile, Venezuela has won Group A after beating Italy 1-0 as the two teams marched to the quarter-finals.

  1. What does this mean? They are out of the World Cup, right? Sometimes your headlines are not consistent with the content, LT. Do something.

    • @Jay Jay, now you have been proved wrong by those girls, did you watch the back-flip-overs by Grace Chanda? And those two Zambian center-backs, Mary Wilombe and Martha Tembo, sensational divas!!! Then there was that right-winger. And not to for get the energetic goalkeeper Nali.
If only the FAZ can invest a bit more those girl teams, they will continue shaming FAZ haters like Jay Jay.

    • How was I proved wrong? I wanted the girls to pull through….stop these utterly pathetic childish posts.
      Grow up!!

    • I am happy that I have matured one more, this time its Jay Jay.
He stopped his “wake-up!”. Now he start “Grow up!”

  2. exiting with heads up. thimbs up to the girls. and in aprticular grace chanda my ndola girls for removing the shame from us. at least we won one game. congrats girls and room for improvement.

  3. White man’s language has been a major communication barrier to many ppl. “EXIT” in this case has confused one of us

  4. We need a womens football league, otherwise we will continue congratulating our girls for winning the last game, after losing all the preceeding games!

  5. these girls were so useless no one would to spend any more funds on such useless girls. their coach was just busy chopping them instead of training them football

  6. Having watched the first two games one can conclude that the girls were not ready for this level of the game. The task was equally too challenging for the coach.
