Transparent International Zambia (TIZ) has welcomed the probing of Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili and former Tourism and Arts Minister Sylvia Masebo for allegedly abusing their offices by the Anti-Corruption Commission.
Speaking in an interview TIZ Executive Director Goodwel Lungu said TIZ welcomes the investigations of two PF top officials as it shows that no one is above the law.
Mr Lungu said if the Minister and his counterpart are alleged to have involved themselves in issues that relate to malpractice then they should be investigated and that if there is enough evidence to warrant prosecution then the law must take its course.
“TIZ would like to welcome the probe of the Minister as this tells us that in our democracy there is no one above the law. If the Minister is alleged to have involved himself in malpractice as far as we are concerned the law should take its course and we hope that the people involved will fully cooperate with the investigations,” Mr Lungu said.
He urged the duo to fully cooperate with the investigators to allow for smooth investigations and ensure that their cases are completed early.
He further commended the ACC for being proactive and investigating even senior government officials adding that the Commission should not relent in the fight against corruption.
“We would also like to commend the ACC for being proactive in investigating even senior government officials and they should not be afraid in doing their job,” he said.
The ACC today confirmed that it has instituted investigations into alleged abuse of office by Mr Kambwili and Ms Masebo.

And why he (kambwili) travelled to USA with the U17 girls’ team instead of a physician or medical doctor to accompain the team. Did fulfill his promises of paying these girls their allowance back dated to their qualifying for junior world?
Duped again! These investigations are a mere show-face meant to gain some sympathy for PF as an anti-corruption govt. Watch it; nothing will come out it except to be used as a dragnet for perceived enemies of sata-kabimba within the party. And a few will be sacrificed the desperate sympathy the duo are looking for.
Hmmmm, really Sylvia and Kambwili? What happened to Wynter Kabimba over the oil deal? ACC please be straight in your dealings. Anyway God is watching. Saturday or Sunday you go to church meanwhile your hearts are full of dark patches.
The ACC, sit and reflect on your dealings, I wished someone who fears God can be the president of this country, so that when he is a lone, he can reflect how he is looking after his people that God has given him to lead.
