MINISTER of Foreign Affairs Harry Kalaba castigated MMD president Nevers Mumba for suggesting that the PF government has neglected Luapula Province.

Mr Kalaba said it is sad that Dr Mumba can continue misleading the nation that the PF has neglected Luapula when Government is busy taking various development projects to the region.

“We are very surprised as a PF government that Dr Mumba was in Mansa district talking about the fuel situation in the area.

“Mansa district is enjoying good roads, reduced power outages and many other development projects. We therefore don’t expect Dr Mumba to continue lying to the nation that we are not doing anything as a government in the area,” he said.

Mr Kalaba says President Sata has the vision to develop the country and must be given support by all well-meaning Zambians to achieve this dream.

Mr Kalaba said Zambians must continue supporting President Sata because he is the vision-carrier of the country’s development agenda and the torch-bearer of the Patriotic Front (PF).

He said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that Zambians have a duty to rally behind President Sata so that he can develop the country to meaningful levels.

“We have seen unprecedented development taking place in this country and the people’s lives are being improved across the country.

“What we are asking for as a government now is for the people of Zambia to continue supporting this hard-working President of Zambia so that he can deliver on his campaign promises,” Mr Kalaba said.

He said President Sata has created new districts throughout the country to help serve people by taking government closer to them.

Mr Kalaba further said the PF must continue to be an instrument of service to the people, adding that President Sata has worked hard to build roads, clinics, houses and schools countrywide in the few years he has been in office.

  1. Imwe naimwe ba Kalaba muleikalafye when you don’t have anything to talk about. Have you ever even had time to read the Sixth National Development Plan which the previous government formulated? I bet you haven’t. Because if you did, you were going to know notice that the so called ‘unprecedented’ development you keep refering to is all covered in the plan.

However, because you were not privy to the plan and how to implement it, you rushed it in trying to hoodwink people so that they see it as your plan. Thats why you have difficulties which has resulted in overspending and in the end you ended up punishing people through wage freeze, exorbitant prices of essential commodities, the list is endless.

So bwana minister dont rush to blow your own trumpet – leave it to the people.

  2. Does MMdD really expect PF to mend the mess they did to Luapula province in 3 years?
They destroyed Mansa batteries, Damaged the only mine in Mansa Kabasa Mine, Neglected the Tuta road KK build, neglected the Mansa to Kashikishi Road KK left, look at the damage at the only banana scheme KK left Mununshi, Kawambwa tea, in Nchelenge the rubber plantation, or the list is endless to the damage Mumba and his people inflicted .
What did even there Chiluba who came from Luapula did?
Chiluba and MMD Just build a mud house for his sister, which I am told is no more standing.
PF in the shortest period of time have renovated Mansa Kashikishi and Tuta roads and putting tamac on pedical road. We hear Musonda falls is been up graded to a bigger power station.
    So MMD should be ashamed.

  3. If I were PF I would’nt be bragging about the so called development on borrowed funds. The 4.3 billion dollars borrowed so far for this so called development will be very difficult to repay. Our future generation is in trouble!!

  4. It appears LT has become lost its journalistic role of informing the general public with true version of news, happenings and state of affairs in Zambia.
The picture depicting Kalaba commenting on Nevers Mumba visit in Luapula is showing Mr Sata, Bob Sichinga and Harry Kalaba in Brussels. Harry Kalaba is not in Brussels while reacting to Mumba’s visit in Luapula.

The story about Mwaliteta in Kaoma/ Magango is typical of journalists misleading the public on national issues. This, to say the least is disgraceful to those that call themselves journalists and Lusaka Times has to change in its reportage before Zambians can consign this news media out let on the same deceptive peddler of lies as The Post serving its master Sata PF.

  5. In all this “support our vision carrier talk,” Mr. Kalaba has not given any reason for the fuel shortages that have been going on in Luapula for 2 years. His defense should have tackled that issue, that’s all Nevers talked about

    • True true true Mumba was asking PF government to provide fuel to Mansa. all the nonsense talked about development is really nonsense! Will people substitute their needy for fuel today with the road to Kashikishi? Please ba Kalaba answer the question- Why is there no fuel in Mansa? When will it come? Those are the answers needed and not the rhetoric you and your supporters are yapping about!

  6. @ 2 Nkonkomalimba

All those projects you are naming were started by MMD, rehabilitation of roads, building the only girls boarding school in Luapula built by MMD can not even open in fear of PF lies because everyone in Luapula knows it. KK International Airport would have been a show case in Central Africa by now if PF allowed contractors to complete the building of the airport. Just mere renaming of airports and districts is not building them, for as things stand now PF govt can not even pay civil servants. All the money goes into medical tourism by Mr Sata and Milpark clinic in South Africa for his ministers and family to shamelessly posing as VIPs visitors.

    • PF is paying civil servants the best salaries in the history of this country. You even know that but why are you disputing my point, you don’t know.
Which roads are you talking about? And who told you that you can develop without borrowing? That is the problem of you Zambians, you just know how to dispute. Sata has done a lot in Luapula as opposed to what you are saying. In 2012 it was taking 5 hrs to travel between Mansa and Kashikishi, Now that is not the case. Which projects did MMD and your RB started? Those Campaign tricks RB wanted to cheat us? Please open your eyes and ears and see/ hear.

  7. It is true that you PF has done nothing for Luapula after giving you a 99.9 % vote. Compare what you have done to Kasama, Mongu, Chipata etc, almost all the streets in these towns are tarred . But come to Mansa , there is only a ka one road tarred. Really people of Luapula a watching and time will come when they shall speak. PF , listen , if you want votes from Luapula, tare the Mansa streets as you have done for Kasama, Mongu etc, otherwise you will cry come 2016.

No wonder Sata called the Luapula MPs as dull coz these MPs don’t talk development for Luapula. We are watching you Luapula MPs .

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.

  8. Hon Kalaba, did you hear waht Nevers said? He was responding to people who mobbed him asking him to plead for them to Government about the erratic supply of fuel in Luapula province since last year.

Stick to the topic, answer the question on what you are doing about fuel shprtages in Mansa and the entire province. Don’t jump to “unprecedented projects” which are bleeding this country to death while the ministers controlling the contracts are getting fat.

By the way, why were you awol during Mutomboko and left a vacuum for Nevers to steal the show?

  9. ..it is shocking to hear a minister….’rejoicing on REDUCED power outage..’….he should only rejoice when it is eliminated. Just like mobile phone, cars…. power is no longer a luxury but a necessity in this modern era. If your house/shop/school/office is connected, you need it every minute of the 24hrs…..
Just like you cannot rejoice when lesser children are dying of malaria because you distributed mosquito nets, or rejoicing of reduced traffic fatalities because you constructed a duel carriage way…..both cases require zero tolerance

  10. mike what planet do you live? All these developed countries borrowed money to develop and they continue doing so the might USA 16 trillion debt , Uk 3 trillion debt so please if you have not some any research of into incubation and save your integrity from ignorance. If the name is spend on infrastructure development this good and wish move. Stop smoking Dono Mike hallucinations compounded with lack of sleep is not good

  11. Ba Mumba, with due respect, pls my Brother, find someone credible like Gen Miyanda, even ba Mpombo and form a Party with a new refreshing name. MMD is sickening to
hear and hard to trust. Just face reality and do the right thing. I believe u can do great things but not under that tug, or at least change the name.

  12. @ Pafwenamwine. I don’t believe in ‘developing’ on borrowed money. Thats no development because borrowed funds have to be paid back with huge interest. Unless of cause the money one borrows is for investing in productive ventures – not doing roads in Chibolya! Borrow to cultivate 30 000 hectres for production of 1 million tonnes of Soya beans for export to China for example – yes that makes sense. Have you block heads any ideas how we are going to pay back the USD 4.3 dollars you have borrowed. None of chaps have ever said how you are going to pay back.Yours is Senseless borrowing!

  13. PF listen even good. If you are not going to tare the Mansa streets just as you have done for Mongu, Kasama, Chipata etc, just know that Luapula people will vote against you come 2016. Luapula gave you a 99.9 vote but what they are receiving from you is nothing….you do not care for Luapula period. Why have you left out Mansa in the street tarring ??? Is it not that you do not care for Luapula?

2016 is coming and you will cry ……

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.
