Long Melford death:Tribute to ‘kind soul’ Deborah Sheke Ruse

Share

shekeA woman believed to have been murdered by her husband “had a way of making everybody she came into contact with feel loved”, her family has said.

Deborah Ruse, 39, was found at her home in Long Melford, Suffolk, in November, hours after her husband was found dead.

Her family said she recently moved out of the family home after separating from Oliver Ruse, who was 37.

“She was a passionate Christian, generous and a kind soul,” her family said in a statement.

Mr Ruse was found at multi-storey car park in Bury St Edmunds on 13 November. An inquest heard how an axe stained with Mrs Ruse’s blood and with Mr Ruse’s DNA on the handle was found in a Land Rover in the car park.

Police are treating their deaths as a suspected murder and suicide.

Mrs Ruse was brought up in Zambia, where she was “fondly known as Sheke”, before pursuing a law degree at Buckingham University, her family said.

She met Mr Ruse while they were both working in a London branch of Gap and they married in Zambia in 1998.

The couple had four daughters, aged between eight and 16, but had separated shortly before their deaths and were involved in an acrimonious dispute about where their children should live.

Earlier in the week, an inquest in Ipswich heard how Mr Ruse, who ran a butcher’s in Long Melford, had told his sister “the only way out was to kill Deborah”.

Mrs Ruse’s family said: “May her soul rest in eternal peace.”

The inquest has been adjourned until February.

    • maybe wrong forum and time to do a tribute. I already prayed for her.
This week, people are confused with PF’s presidents.

  1. Instead of being violent toward the woman everybody expects them to love and protect, why don’t these dudes just let her go?
Is it a case of ‘belittling someone for them to feel powerful?’ These men do not deserve anyone’s respect.
Someone once said men who act violently against women are cowards and are ‘worse than d0gs’: Who has ever seen even a wild animal attack it’s female?
These people have no place in sane society, and should be appropriately labelled for gay criminals in prison to deal with as they please….

  2. I am lost for words. I met Debbie here in UK several years ago, her words and kindness touched me in so many levels. I see her smile everytime I close my eyes. Sleep well Beautiful. We all miss you.

    From Suffolk

  3. Don’t rush to marry deranged foreigners just to stay in foreign lands. Better to live with people whose backgrounds you understand.

  4. This is when offices like the Zambian High Commission should become relevant. The circumstances surrounding this lady’s death need to be investigated and the Zambian family given the dignity they deserve.
Can the new government bring back Hon Nkunika please? Not these relatives of someone who are only interested in shopping and partying.
This foreign service should complain about the lack of information on national television which I am sure would have been the breaking news had it been the woman who had killed a Briton. We wouldn’t have seen the end of it.
Learning about someone’s death especially one murdered is such a manner should have never been only limited to social media.
