Government has assured residents of Chingola province that the construction of township roads will commence immediately after the onset of the rains.

Minister of Local Government and Housing Emmanuel Chenda said the construction of urban roads in the district will be implemented under the Urban Road Development Project.

In an interview with ZANIS in Chingola, Mr. Chenda expressed worry with the road dilapidation saying the Chingola road construction project will with immediate effect be put on special attention.

Mr. Chenda said government is committed ensuring that the people of Chingola and the surrounding areas have access to good road network.

He explained that once constructed, the roads will add value to the district as they will interconnect with the Kitwe/Chingola dual carriage way currently under construction.

And Mr. Chenda said government will ensure that only credible contractors are awarded with the contracts to contrast the roads in the district that will stand the taste of time.

He attributed the massive dilapidation of roads in Chingola to among others irregularites the shoddy works exhibited by some contractors who were previously awarded with contracts.

      Dear President Edgar Lungu HH,

Being helpful and edited this for you. You’re more likely to get a result now.

  2. Why is most of Zambia so primitive?
At night, there is no light in Zambia from a satellite view.

Zambia still has dirt roads that are not paved.

Zambians still lives in mud huts, rather than homes made of concrete.

  3. Too little too late.

So these roads they build and build and build – this is the PF’s attestation of success? (Before we even talk about the selfish interest they have in RDA)

  4. Chingola has been promised that the roads will be given priority year after year since PF came in power. Our MP has failed us and I cant see many Chingola residents voting for PF because we havent seen any change in the past 3yrs and yet copper is mined here.

    • In the past this town was known as the cleanest one in Zambia and the residents took pride in this fact. Now it’s roads are in appalling conditions. Now PF is shocked! Where is the area MP? Driving around in a four wheel drive paid for with tax payers money. Shame! Now P
F wants the vote Chingola roads will be a priority? Funny that!

  5. …..some political pronouncements irritates me……the statement Chenda is reproducing about township roads started resonating in our ears from FTJ rein during his bid to retain presidency in 1996….we heard the same song but with a different tune during LPM and RB…just like FTJ kept on assuring those who bought mine house for their title deeds…..20yrs later no title deeds in sight…
