Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba says it was difficult for him to work and facilitate development in his chiefdom before he was handed the instruments of power by President Edgar Lungu.

The Paramount Chief says since he has now formerly been gazetted as Mwine Lubemba he felt at liberty to work and offer the necessary support towards national development.

Mwine Lubemba made the remarks when Mungwi District Commissioner Joyce Chanda paid a courtesy call on him at his palace yesterday.

He told the DC that the lack of a bank and a filling station was affecting the rapid growth of Mungwi district and hence required the support of every stakeholder to redress the situation.

Mwine Lubemba also said the current situation where civil servants in Mungwi were receiving their salaries from Kasama needed to be resolved by urgently setting -up a bank so that money could be retained in the district to boost development.

He said there was need to open-up local investment in the business sector so that people could be allowed to set-up shopping malls in the area.

Mwine Lubemba said the initiative could be a catalyst for reducing poverty and creation of jobs in the district

On land, the Paramount Chief Chitimukulu said there was need to revisit boundaries to ascertain the areas which need to be exploited for development.

The Paramount Chief said it has always been his wish to support development that benefits more people other than an individual.

” A project must be superior. We should not allow only one village to benefit”, said Mwine Lubemba categorically .

And Mungwi District Commissioner Joyce Chanda thanked President Edgar Lungu for according Henry Kanyanta Sosala instruments of power as Mwine Lubemba.

Mrs Chanda said it was equally difficult for the district to move towards development in the absence of the Paramount chief.

The DC said the district administration faced challenges in making consultations on matters that needed the input of Mwine Lubemba adding that now that he has ascended to the throne development would be easy to undertake in the district .

  1. One of the very few polished intellectuals serving as a traditional rulers. He is a repository of wisdom, thoughtful leadership and rational acts. Reading his writings and debates gives one a high sense of pride and hope.

    • The chitimukulu raises very valid points,,,,, not this headles blind running around of constructing roads without an intergrated approach

  2. Mwine Lubemba adding value to the chieftaincy! This is one chiefdom that will see government consulting with a people’s establishment on their aspirations and expectations! I just love Mwine Lubemba for he looms larger than even the Minister of Chiefs Affairs, caution will be practiced by all who approach this throne!

However, with all due respect, can the one in charge of Mwine Lubemba’s wardrobe please ensure tailor made clothing!

  3. @ndobo please be objective! Can you have meaningful development without proper roads? Then stop driving on the next roads and use bush patht

    • @ Deja Vu…you are such an *****….If money is borrowed and is carelessly used, and not deployed productively, paying back may prove to be difficult. If the government borrows and does not use that money prudently and in a manner that grows the economy and increases national production, when the time to pay back comes, there may not be enough money for that. We have just come out of a debt that had become impossible for us to repay. We were saved by HIPC. Is there going to be another HIPC for us? Not at all….get the fact azzhole.!

  4. President Lungu giving the instruments of power to the Chitimukulu or recognising him?? Are the instruments of power (whatever the articles are) taken to State House to be kept by the Head of State when a traditional leader dies?

So this is how the Shi-Lubemba conuct their matters!! Do the BRE surrender the Namaya to State House when the “Mande Breaks” (as the demise of the Litunga occurs)?? Can informed fellow bloggers please educate me. There could be many others who might have wondered why the Chitimukulu was stuck. How is Prof. Luo feeling about all this?

    • @ Mary….help on what you ignorant female chimp…go and get laid. You clearly have nothing mental to share other than your dripping pucy…get a life

  5. @Ndobo…you are actually right…Zambia is building roads with borrowed money at very high costs. It his has one of the highest costs on the continent for a kilometre of tarred road. The quality of these roads is also questionable.e.g. Ndola-Kitwe Highway by Kitwe Police Check point need repairs before commissioning. Where is the money going to come from when we have to start repairing these roads before we even start paying back the money we have borrowed to build them.. We have to stop using roads as election campaign projects because the cost of doing so is too high. It is too costly to the country to spend money in such an irrational way simply to help a political party become popular you headless horses!!

  6. @superman
