Zesco and Power set for West African tests after continental success

Zesco United and Power Dynamos now know their first round opponents after both successfully negotiated their way past the preliminary phase of their respective continental club outings.

Zesco advance to the first round when they beat Mbabane Swallows 1-0 to advance 2-1 on aggregate.

They will face AS Kaloum of Guinea who drew 1-1 with 2014 Confederation Cup runners-up Sewe Sport of Cote d’Ivoire on Sunday in Mali to advance 3-2 on aggregate.

Zesco will host AS Kaloum on March 14 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

In the Confederation Cup, Power overturned a 1-0 away loss to Al Khartoum to win 2-0 at home on Sunday at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe and subsequently advance 2-1 on aggregate.

Power will travel to Libreville to play CF Mounana in a fortnights time.

Mounana advanced to the first round after they picked up emphatic back-to-back wins in their preliminary round tie over Polisi of Zanzibar.

The Gabonese beat Polisi 3-1 away in Zanzibar on Sunday to book their first round date with Power 8-1 on aggregate.

Power will face Mounana on the road on Match 15.
