A United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Reverend of Ndola and her husband have died in a road traffic accident in Mwense district after their vehicle overturned and plunged into a stream.

Luapula Province Police Commissioner Hudson Namachila confirmed to ZANIS in Mwense today that Reverend Nosiku Sintengu aged 39 years and her husband Stepehn Chilufya (48) drowned in a stream on the Mwense- Kazembe road around 09:00 hours yesterday.

Mr Namachila said Mr Chilufya, who was driving the vehicle, a Toyota Furncargo, lost control as he tried to avoid a pothole causing the vehicle to plunge into the stream.

Mr. Namachila said the Reverend and her husband are both from Ndola’s Lubuto compound and were travelling from Kawambwa district where they had gone to conduct church services.
Mr. Namachila explained that the accident happened around 09 hours at Mulonga village 15 kilometres from Mwense Boma in chief Lubunda’s area along Mwense- Kazembe road.

He said the vehicle Toyota Funcargo registration number AJC 6612 which was being driven by the late Steven Chilufya overturned and fell into the stream as he tried to avoid a pothole.

The police commissioner said the duo drowned and died on the spot. The bodies of the deceased are in Mansa hospital mortuary awaiting post mortem.

  1. Such a sad sad story. Their only child and daughter actually perished in the same accident thereby eliminating the entire family. The couple is originally from Luanshya. May God have mercy for them.

  2. My denomination, may their souls RIP. I have driven on this road a few years ago when I suppose it was still in a good state. This is one of the most scenic routes in Zambia where Ntumba Chushi falls may be seen.

It would be good to know what exactly happened rather than just report avoidance of a pothole and plunging into a stream!

  3. So terrible and sad indeed! The Minister was based at UCZ Bethel Congregation in Mushili, Ndola. We are so devastated by this sudden and tragic death of our beloved Minister and the husband. We pray the good Lord Almighty Him alone who declares the end from the beginning, Him alone who is always found to be of great help in times of distress to COMFORT all the people that the Minister touched with her powerful sermons. We shall miss you Minister NOSIKU SITENGU CHILUFYA more so when you would lead the congregation to dance our BETHEL Anthem “INE NSHAYE MPAKAFYE MUMPALE’ Go well Minister! Go well Mr. Chilufya. Rest in Eternal Peace till we meet again. So hard to believe but ONLY JEHOVAH God knows why it had to happen.

    • And that same God opted to let her drown. Stop praying the white man’s religion

    • This is sad indeed. But if it is about pot holes, let Government respond quickly to such issues. many lives are being lost.

  4. And obviously when they were starting off, they even recited some bible verses and yet God in his own “Wisdom” decided not to answer it. These people went to do God’s work and the only repayment they receive is death through drowning. This white God surely is indifferent, we better start following our own “God”. May the souls of the departed comrades rest in peace though i dont believe i resurrection

    • Which God do you want us to follow? By the way Christianity originated from middle East not Europe. Jesus was born among semitic people not whites.

No where in the bible does God say christians can’t die. The bible says in Psalm 147:11 that “the LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love. Again in Ezekiel 33:11 He says, “As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live….” “Only fools say in their hearts, There is no God.”Psalms 14:1.1. because “The heavens proclaim the glory of God.
The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known.” Psalms 19:1-3.

  5. Very sad. May they rest in peace. But we have lost too may people under the PF regime due to corruption. money is wasted to harass people like Pilato instead of putting it to good us.potholes are supposed to be patched up quickly rather than waiting until someone dies. but who was there to say they died while trying to avoid a pot hole.

  6. Too bad indeed lossing two people of the same family at the same time is not easy especially that the same family lost the children earlier in a similar incident. May the soul of the departed rest in peace.

  7. Instead of praying over incompetence, we must keep our roads free of potholes at a minimum! Lead time to mend must be within an hour or at most within a day to allow for workmen to travel to site! How is that for pragmatic prayers answered?

  8. One of the most foolish beliefs i keep hearing is when something good happens people thank god and when something bad happens they say god is testing them! People have this mindset. If they see something too complicated and don’t understand it they assume its god’s work. This happens more in the case of natural phenomenon or calamity because they can’t control it. If they can’t control something it doesn’t mean it is controlled by god.
A prayer is for those who want to keep false hopes. Hope on but don’t blame your god for not doing something about it. He will stay neutral. Its people that will serve you.

  9. Their child or is it children died under similar circumstances! Something is smelling fishy here. Are these natural accidents or satanism at work? Musali yani neli mukololo nabata sikamani ku munyukunyuku yani?

  10. The road is extremely bad on the sport and if nothing is done like today, many more lives will be lost there. I wish part of the K6 million found in the late RDA board chairperson (Willy Nsanda) could be channeled for emergency repairs on thus spot.

    • Condolences, Dudelove. So sad. The Lord received them with open arms, and they heard “well done my good and faithful servants.”

  11. Why cant UCZ purchase 4 X 4 for men of God? Is Furncargo safe for long trips like traveling to Luapula province.

    • and when they do y’all will be the same people complaining that they’re stealing money from worshipers to buy cars

  12. This lady was à preacher indeed she encourages me at st Luke’s may god guide the family .indeed mwalefwaya ukwakufwila e uku in gods preaching I know u are in his hands

  13. Rev Nosiku was a wonderful woman of God.I have seen her grow into maturity both physically and Spiritually. She was a charasmastic teacher of the word.Very pleasant, down to earth a wonderful mother, house wife and preacher. Its sad and unbelievable that she should die in such a manner after preaching the word in Kawambwa. We thank God for giving us the opportunity to listen to her sermons. In deed God’s ways are not our ways.RIP in arms of Jesus may name of God be glorified even during this very sad moment.

  14. …and all those bloggers who have talked or written ill of God in the foregoing blogs live in a Christian nation. Isn’t this laughable? We are really showing our true colours. Are we really at peace in our hearts?

  15. They have fought and fought a good fight. “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first”.(1 Thessalonians 4:16).
    May their soul RIP. AMEN.

  16. Reverend Nosiku met her fate while on a Reverend exchange program but we re comforted to hear she died doing what her Creator sent for; preaching, seeking & saving the lost. Her death is by no means in vain for we believe that Jesus died & rose again, so God will surely bring with Jesus those who ve died in him. For the message of the cross is nonsense to those who re being destroyed, but it is the power of God to us who are being saved. On that day of resurrection, we shall sing “O death where is your victory, Oh death, where is your sting”

  17. She was a great teacher of the gospel.Touched many peoples lives especially on the copperbelt in chingola ,lyansha and ndola.

This is very painful, it reminds me of Myles Munroe death.

  19. @ Zemuntu changed to Jacombian Transform and UCZ= Useless Churches of Zambia, I feel pity for you insulting the Almighty God. You don’t paly around with the creator of the Universe and humans. Who says Christians will never die? Don’t you know that John the Baptist was beheaded? Don’t you know that Steven was stoned to death? Don’t you know that Hitler murdered 6,000,000 Jews? Don’t you know that Christ himself was harshly crucified for your sins and mine? You think by having breath now, you are smarter than those who have died? It is the grace that God has upon you. If God so wishes that you die, you die. In everything glory be to God. Don’t you know that Daniel was saved from being eaten by hungry lions but God shut their mouths and claws? You think your breath and life is…

  20.
