The Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) leadership in the Northern Province has distanced itself from those calling for the resignation of party president Nevers Mumba.

Speaking in a walk in interview with ZANIS in Kasama today, Northern Province MMD Information and Publicity Secretary Cephas Bwalya said it was unfair to start calling for the resignation of Dr Mumba as party president.

Mr. Bwalya said Dr. Mumba has only contested the position of the Presidency once hence the need to give him another chance.

He said the party members in the Province are not going to support the move which he claimed was personal hatred against the Dr. Mumba.

Mr. Bwalya has also advised party members from other provinces to encourage the spirit of oneness in the former ruling party.

He further observed that intra party hatred is very retrogressive to the development of the MMD.

Mr. Bwalya said this was the time when members in the party should get united and take the party forward in order to adequately prepare for the 2016 general elections.

Some MMD members have called for the resignation of Dr Nevers Mumba as MMD party president citing claiming that he has no leadership qualities.

  1. I am one of those calling for Mumba to go. The chap has done more harm to the party than any other leader we have had. He has no clue on how to run a party. He has no record of success anywhere. HIS TRACK RECORD is just not there. He failed everywhere he has been. No normal thinking Zambian can vote for Mumba as president. So why keep him. Just as decoration in the party? Nooooo it is about getting votes to get into govt. Not just walking about in lavish suits bane. Please it is time this self ordained pastor stepped down for the good of the party!

    • Mumba is no longer an issue and no longer a factor in Zambian politics. He was given an opportunity which failed to utilise just like all other opportunities he has had.

    • Nevers.. Please do MMD a favour by resigning.

You failed. No amount of PILGRIMS will help you turn around the situation.

All your lieutenants don’t want you. Somehow feeling sorry for you.

For how long will continue chewing 10% coming from all MMD parliamentary members.

      TIME TO GO IS NOW.

    • 15,600 votes from the whole Zambia.

      Numbers speak for themselves.

Man of God.. You don’t need Angels to remind you.

  2. PF needs Mumba in the opposition because every sentence that he utters is always brilliant and makes PF even stronger. We shall miss his poor leadership if some one else takes over, and might take some few votes from weak souls, who change camp at the sight of ten kwacha. As a politician he should fight ’til he can no longer walk or else he might loose the free money he is getting from his members of the parliament.
