Police are still holding UPND Vice president for administration, Geoffrey Mwamba in custody.

Police on Friday arrested and charged Mr. Mwamba with proposing violence.

UPND spokesperson, Charles Kakoma told ZNBC News in Lusaka on Saturday that Mr. Mwamba is still held at Lusaka Central Police awaiting court hearing.

Mr. Kakoma said Mr. Mwamba’s lawyers are still trying to engage the Police on possibilities of granting him police bond.

He said it is unfortunate that the Police have denied Mr. Mwamba police bond when in fact the case is bondable.

Police on Friday Lusaka arrested and charged United Party for National Development (UPND) vice-president for administration Geoffrey Mwamba for allegedly proposing violence.

Police spokesperson Charity Chanda said this is in connection with a statement Mr Mwamba made on Wednesday this week that he would go for President Lungu’s throat.

Mrs Chanda said in an interview in Lusaka that Mr Mwamba committed an offence of proposing violence or breaches of the law to assemblies.

“Yes, we have arrested Mr Mwamba for proposing violence or breaches of the law to assemblies contrary to section 91(I) a and b of the Penal Code.

“This is in connection with the statement he made on March 2, 2016 proposing to cause death to President Lungu that he would go for his throat. Mr Mwamba is currently in custody,” Mrs Chanda said.

  1. So what, who is he? we dont’ care. Serves him right keep him there. That’s where he belongs. Fat turd

    • If Zambian leadership is about revenge, then our country will not move forward. PF leaders should not be happy with such and we should let such be stopped?

Why? Because if UPND take office, they will waste resources revenging and locking PF leaders, instead of concentrating to resolve issues? it’s embarrassing and waste of Zambian people’s time.

What ever the case is with GBM, the detention is political than reality. Lungu trying to show his power, forgetting that his day will come. Cheap politics.

  2. Good news, at least he will start to respect people. GBM please no opening of your mouth anyhow next time. You don’t do chimbuya anyhow, see what happened to the bemba guy in South Africa

  3. Only Haters of Democracy will support this nonsense by the PF Police cadres in uniform. Viva HH, GBM, CB & the whole UPND family. 2016 ni substitution HH in Lungu out.

    • GBM is a criminal. Maybe you do leave in Zambia that is why you argue that way.
GBM has assaulted more than 20 people out which 15 are of causing body harm and others of serious verbal assault. The case he is in custody is of serious verbal assault and proposing violence. How can one think of cutting the throat of the president be political. Whether GBM and HH hate Lungu, Many Zambians are happy with this President and this should not be the basis of hating a beloved President. Let them wait for August 11 elections to prove their leadership claims. But we know and they also know that they will lose again and this very big.

  4. Gbm is a factor in politics, that’s why he is being punished for nothing. remain courageous and may God bless you and upnd

  5. Jokes and politics aside:

GBM’s utterances about the President’s throat were serious as they border on (assassination) treason. One could clearly tell from the movements of heads of his colleagues as they reacted to his speech.

For now, the best GBM can do is simply to swallow his pride, withdraw the threats against the life of the Head of State and apologize otherwise his political opponents could nail him with a longer prison term.

  6. Cowthern, this a lesson to you with diarrhoea of the mouth. You cant threaten the head of state and go scot free in any country.Edgar Chagwa Lungu is not just president of Zambia,he is also commander in chief of the armed forces.Threatening him is threatening the peace and the security of this country.I say cage him until he realises that money isnt everything.Beyond money, there is wisdom and understanding.ECL all the way to 2021!!!

  7. @Maybe

Please reasonable…Whether or not GBM is a factor should not be an issue. His utterances were not called for. ..Issuing death threats on a global platform like he did against a Head of State or indeed against an individual is a criminal offense anywhere in this world.

  8. GOOD FOR HIM LET HIM LEARN TO RESPECT THOSE IN AUTHORITY. HIS MAJOR PROBLEM IS THAT HE THINKS MONEY IS EVERYTHING BUT ALAS THERE HE IS IN CELLS WHAT A SHAME.

NEXT GBM OPEN YOUR MOUTH AND SPEAK SENSE WE ARE TIRED OF BOASTING ABOUT YOUR MONEY.

LOOK AT DANGOTE HAVE YOU EVER HEARD HIM MENTION EVEN HIS CHAIR IN THE HOUSE NO!!! COZ HE IS REALLY RICH NOT PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO GOT RICH THOUGH THEFTS.

    • Testing, testing, testing, 1,2,1,2,1,2….

Ba monica mwanza for how long have you known dangote? lekeni ubufi.

All clear! Don’t block me again diversity is a necessity on this site, it’s currently looking so ugly.

  9. For those that celebrate this kind of petty personal abuse of the law, there is a saying, he that rides the tiger will end up in its belly. Today its gbm and tomorrow its you.

  10. GBM was once Minister of defence and to hear and see him advocate violence and threaten the life of our President, it’s treason and you can see that HH and his cowards have not condemned GBM. The next thing we will hear is this Kachema running to the foreign media. What a shame that UPND can even dream they can be in government, NEVER NOT IN ZAMBIA. So those who have been tricked by HH can now see that his message is just violence. Let’s hope some diplomats have learnt something from this pathetic behaviour of HH and his followers.

  11. Is it ok for the President to threaten his own citizens that ‘alefwaya ukwa kufwila’? That is a more serious threat because he has all the state machinery at his disposal. What happens next? Not a single condemnation from Zambians.

  12. With all fairness and as they say, no one is above the law.

Politicians particularly should be cautious with their utterances as they are usually in the lime-light thus all would hear their rantings even when they don’t mean any harm.

Much as someone out there may cry foul, the gentleman called this upon himself considering the fact that he has another bond in effect.

    Ala bane Boma ni Boma!

  13. GBM finally you are where you are when you used to batter your wife you would come to court from your home…you have no right to threaten a head of state in the manner you did. We have not forgotten you insulting the procurement officers at Zambia Army to pay your company when you where Minister of Defence a whole Minister coming to the Accounts Department issuing threats. You even had some us fired simply because we showed you the applicable rules. Who has forgotten your fat self coming to FRA commanding us to pay you first before any other? At foreign affairs you ensure you had your gay daughter sent to foreign service and her gay partner made the youngest PS but later fired for corruption…..And now the Post is supporting you? Belly life….

  14. I support my fellow members who are all in favor of having GBM face the rubbish that come out from his mouth. No one is above the law

  15. Well done police. GBM is not above the law and let him not think that with his money he can do and say anything! Let him learn that there are certain things that one is not expected to say or do. In any community when you tell some body that you will kill that individual and the following day that individual is found dead you become the first suspect. GBM is messing up with his wealth and dignity!

  16. LUNGU MUST KNOW A PERSON DEALING WITH GBM HIS FROM ROYAL FAMILY ,NOT TO SAY ALOT NIPA CHIMBUYA I WONDER THIS TRIBE BEMBA AND ANGONI CHIMBUYA CHASILA PALI POLITICS . BACK TO YOU LUNGU THE MORE YOU DETAIN GBM IS THE MORE YOU LOSE POPULARITY . UBUCHUSHI WA BA GBM ESASA SHA BA EDGER LUNGU DAYS ARE NOT THE SAME, ONE DAY YOU MEET GBM KU STATE HOUSE

  17. I don’t think GBM can move fast enough or raise the mighty thunder thigh in a manner that will reach the presidential throat. At best I give him knee cap. That’s ambition. Once a new law is introduced for bragging the jail houses will not contain all the political braggards across parties. We can then introduce a Zambian cartoon show version of Death Match. Hand to hand combat I would like to see GBM versus Kambwili.

  18. I feel so sorry for Zambia. The country has moved from being a Christian nation to Sodom and Gomorrah. People are so wicked, immoral, corrupt and selfish.

  19. its true let us respect our superiors, money will never buy life. ba gbm learn to close your mouth wen it is necessary.

  20. GBM is a criminal. Maybe you do Not leave in Zambia that is why you argue that way.

Let them wait for August 11 elections to prove their leadership claims. But we know and they also know that they will lose again and this very big. They want to create fear so that there voter apathy like it was in January 2015 where HH almost got it. They want same repeated

  21. Sinkamba Wisdom – GBM know that the people are with you. Our prayer is that God should protect you day and night where ever you. My appeal to Bembas who have betrayed GBM. How is wish and pray that Bembas should standard as one and denounce the mistreatment of GBM. Guys grow up. You have the voice to stop this nonsense. Why should some one put a wage between yourselves? Please grow up . VIVA GBM, VIVA HH, VIVA UPND, Viva Zambian people. Its true what is on the ground is that the more PF his violent party cadres misbehave, the more they are being rejected. Today I have been in North western and copperbelt provinces, the voice of change is the same. All people I have inter acted with are saying PF and ECL are no longer required, the wind of change is real.
