Opposition Zambians for Empowerment and Development-ZED has endorsed the candidature of President Edgar Lungu in the August 11, general election.
ZED Party president Fred Mutesa says this is because Zambia’s prospects of peace and unity are brighter under the leadership of President Lungu and his running mate Inonge Wina.
Dr Mutesa has told journalists during a press briefing in Lusaka that the decision was made after careful scrutiny and prayer by his party membership.
He noted that turbulence in the economy were as a result of neglect by previous regimes.
Dr Mutesa says President Lungu has been working hard to reverse the challenges using various interventions.
He said Zambia’s economy is set to rebound.
And Dr Mutesa also announced that his party will vote yes in the referendum.
He however called for an end to political violence.

If Dr. Mutesa was as poor as some people here seem to suggest, he would not have left his full time UNZA job. My former lecturer is not struggling like some of you seem to suggest. He is comfortable.
Zedoc, ask Dr. Mutesa why he was at State House last week. What did he go to discuss? What did he get? He has sacrificed the well being of Zambians for his own financial gain.

I am dumfounded by such a statement from a learned person like him. Zambia today has experienced unprecedented high levels of violence since Independence and all this due to Lungu.
It is my considered view that violence will get worse if drunkard and clueless Lungu succeeds to stick on to power.
