A Seventy one year old man of Chipata District has killed his own biological disabled son as part of getting rid from his eyes.
Dickson Sakala popularly known by his business name as Mr Chiparamba of Kapata Township shot Monde Sakala 21 with a greener shotgun on the left shoulder as he was asleep.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner Alex Chilufya who confirmed the incident in Chipata said the motive behind was that the suspect felt tired of taking care of his disabled son by himself whilst his other older children have failed to relieve him of the burden.
“The motive behind the murder was that his son was disabled and felt tired of taking care of him all by himself whilst his other older children haven’t been there to relieve him.Monde Sakala was shot with a greener shotgun on the left shoulder as he was asleep,”Mr Chilufya said.
He explained that the incident occurred around 02:00 hours of yesterday at Kapata Township and the victim died at Chipata Central Hospital.
In another development, a security guard at Kapata Referral Clinic has hanged himself in unclear circumstances.
Mr Chilufya who confirmed the matter said police were on the ground to investigate the circumstances that led to the security guard committing suicide.
“We are investigating the circumstances which have led this man (security guard) to commit suicide at Kapata Clinic,” he said.
Mr Chilufya also said the albino bones that were taken to Lusaka for DNA test were still pending in the laboratory.
He said he was optimistic that the results would be made known to the members of the public as soon as possible.
Five people suspected to have been selling albino bones were picked up by police in Lundazi District.
