President Lungu and FAZ congratulates Junior Chipolopolos after 2-1 win over Portugal

President Edgar Lungu has congratulated African Champions, the Zambia Under-20 football team for the 2-1 victory over two-time champions Portugal in their Group C FIFA World Cup, opening match played today in Jeju, South Korea.

“The continued victory of this team demonstrates the reality of unlimited possibility that always beckons us. The extraordinary unity of purpose among these young people creates the winning team spirit that continues to propel them from one victory to another.

” This is a great example these young footballers are giving the nation across all other spheres of our national life that we can win. Let us focus on national unity and learn from footballers that team spirit is the best way to propel this great nation forward,’’ the President said.

The President is hopeful and confident that the team will definitely bring greater glory to mother Zambia.

The President has also hailed Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Andrew Kamanga and his executive for their able leadership and commitment to take football to another level.

President Lungu has pledged full support to the team and FAZ during and after the tournament so that the nation builds this team into a formidable future national team.

This is contained in a statement by President Lungu’s Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations , Amos Chanda, today.

Meanwhile, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has congratulated the junior under 20 national team for their 2-1 victory over Portugal played in South Korea, today.

ZANIS sports reports FAZ Communication Manager Desmond Katong to conveyed his congratulatory message in a statement that FAZ would like to congratulate the Zambia Men’s U-20 National team on their 2 -1 victory against Portugal at the on-going Fifa 2017, South Korea World Cup.

Katongo says FAZ takes great pride in the successful manner in which the U20 team and the technical bench have continued to represent the country at both continental and global level.

Zambia came out on top in an intriguing tussle with Portugal to lead FIFA U-20 World Cup Korea Republic 2017 Group C with a 2-1 win.

Moses Nyondo scored first in just before the end of the first half after which up coming striker Fashion Sakala struck a solo second 15 minutes to go . Portugal scored just minutes before the end of the game to end the match 2-1 in favour of the African champions.

  2. No no no its not Moses Nyondo who scored, it was the Kasama boy Edward Chilufya.
    This is why PF government allowed to put bullets design on new kit. Thanks to FIFA to command them to delete, or wear the Kappa as usual.

    Did he mean what he is failing to do?
    There has been no unity in his Zambia during his time…things are not OK really. Food for thought.
