The Solwezi municipal council has set aside K750 000 for the rehabilitation of the township roads from the equalization funds that they received from the government.

Council public relations officer Thandiwe Tembo in a walk in interview said that the municipality has plans to working on the roads effective next week once their grader has been fixed.

Ms Tembo said the local authority understands that the residents have been going through a lot of challenges as the roads have become impassable hence the decision by the council to start the rehabilitation

The public relations officer has since appealed to the residents to be patient stating that it wasn’t their desire to prolong the works as they will ensure that the works are done in the quickest possible time.

Meanwhile Ms. Thandiwe Tembo encouraged property rate payers to pay their rates so that the money will also be allocated towards the rehabilitation of the road.

    vote him in 2021.

    • @Mushota: You forgot to mention that you have a PhD and that you and your hubby are trying hard for your first child

    • K750 000 ONLY FOR A PLACE THAT IS GENERATING MONEY AND CREATING JOBS FOR THE ALL NATION? THIS IS AN INSULTING JOKE! THE PEOPLE OF NORTH-WESTERN PROVINCE ARE JUST DOCILE LIKE THOSE OF THE COPPERBELT PROVINCE WHOSE RESOURCES HAVE DEVELOPED THIS NATION; AND INDEED THE PEOPLE OF SOUTHERN PROVINCE WHERE POWER IS GENERATED FROM.

    • Is Lungu now the Solwezi Council ? Why wasnt this done years ago ! It’s a disgrace that these roads have not been maintained !

  2. What are you smoking Mushota? Are you looking at the photo or you are massaging Nick’s nether region?
Get busy trying for your first child. You are wasting too much time on the internet.

  3. Now they finished stealing the eurobonds for which it was almost $1 million per kilometre, now they have started normal invoicing @ $75,000 for a few roads.

  4. @No 4, Are you talking about the privatization funds? Those were stolen a long time ago! One of the guys is somewhere and he cannot be allowed to take care of Zambia because he can sell Zambia!

    • Eurobonds were being stolen in the last 4 years, now zambia owes $10 billion, were you sleeping ?

  5. Please LT Reporter, on our behalf, go back to Thandiwe and ask her to state why Solwezi out of all districts has not even one tared township roads that were done in other districts. We need investigative journalism not only reporters.

  6. What road can you make with K750,000? Even one footpath will cost more

  7. I Think Its Just Grading The Roads, Because That Money Cannot Do Major Works Like Compacting The Gravel.

Tell The Government To Build You Roads Because You Are A Town That Also Need To Benefit From Good Roads. And Not Because Its A Mining Town Or Its Contribution To GDP.

  8. What a shame! Is it not that Lumwana and Kansanshi mine are the ones to give back to community ?

  9. @Ba Zecky; what a shame for sure; past and current Zambian leaders pure are evil to let a place that is the hub of Zambian economy to have such roads;

  10. I Heard ECL Ordered China Geo To Further Tar 10km Of Solwezi Roads While Doing Chingola-Solwezi Road

  11. You had better given that modicum money to your girlfriends! Trying to give left overs to the Province which has seen Zambia where it is today. That 750.000 is the money Robert Mugabe has given out as a Birthday present to his family member. #MULEBAKOSERIOUS!

  12. Good Move by the govt however, the president need to make sure that the contractors are appointed in an ethical manner we do not want you to give this contracts to corrupt ministers in PF.
