Rainbow Party (RP) Elections Chairperson Victor Kalesha has urged Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) and Zambia Police Service to act professionally in the forthcoming local Government bye-elections across the country.
In a statement to pan African Radio news, Kalesha says if Zambia is to prove being a beacon of true democracy in Africa, this is now time to curb vote buying ahead of elections.
Kalesha says Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) is expected to be firm in following guidelines as enshrined in the electoral code of conduct as well as the police to keep an eye on electoral malpractices and arrest the culprits.
Kalesha also noted that Zambians should be allowed to vote for leaders of their own choice in a conducive environment if the country is to be made a better place to live in for every citizen.
“We want to advise Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) and Zambia Police Service to act professionally in the forthcoming local Government elections across the Country” he said
And Kalesha has expressed optimism that Rainbow will scoop two seats on the Copperbelt as the party have fielded very credible candidates in Mufulira and Luanshya by elections.
Kalesha added that the only thing his party is requesting for is a violent free and malpractice free elections and has since urged the electorate not to be deceived by voting for people giving them material things.

Hey Victor Kalesha & Rainbow party, ECZ is corrupt & rotten to the core.
ECZ has lost credibility because of corrupt & rotten elements like Essau Chulu & Priscilla Isaacs who have now plugged the country into the abyss of visionless Jonathan Lungu’s Dictatorship.
Get rid of all ECZ officials before any future elections to avoid the confusion over who the legitimate winner is.
By the way, the Ugandan Chavula who was found in the electoral server room changing votes to benefit PF should be a witness in the con~court when the presidential petition is heard next month.
