Health Minister Dr Chitalu Chilufya has dispelled rumours that government will conduct a spraying exercise in town today therefore restricting movements of buses.

There was panic among some Lusaka residents who were convinced that movements in the city will be restricted today because government intends to spray some disinfectants in town.

But at a briefing yesterday, Dr Chilufya said; “There are rumours like ‘there will be aerial spraying therefore there will be a shutdown, people should stay indoors and all those things circulating on social media’ that should be condemned and should not be allowed to derail the response and disrupt business. If there are any measures we will put in place, we will announce them ourselves. The only measures are what we have just announced. We have been inundated by too many rumours.”

Dr Chilufya announced that government had imposed a curfew on Kanyama compound to be in effect for seven days.

Kanyama residents are expected to be indoors by 18:00 hours during this time.

Meanwhile, his local government counterpart Vincent Mwale also announced that bars were only allowed to operate from 11:00 hours to 19:00 hours.

    • What is the reasoning for a 18hrs-06hrs curfew in Kanyama when is is business as usual from 06hrs to 18hrs? If anything the curfew should be at peak when people are likely to be in contact with each other and transmit cholera

  1. You chase people from assembling at Church for only 2 hours and allow bars to operate from 11 to 19 hours. Drunk ministers and authorities. They would rather go on a drinking spree for 9 hours than be in Church for an our or 2

  2. Lusaka is a city? Wow , I call it a big village for the cholera ,trash everywhere ,chaotic vendors and toxic open sewage.Real cities function well but a village has no rules,no functional amenities and no order.

    • You don’t have village life experience. In a village setup, people follow norms and customs which make them live longer than people living in urban areas

  3. Bars have been allowed to operate for 7 hrs yet churches which meet for an average of 2hrs and only once a week were told to shut down. Can those of you who condemned Bs Eddie give me the logic?

  4. Their was no cabinet meeting today because it involves more than 5 pipo. Only state house staff met. CHOLERA IS NOT A PANDEMIC SO PLEASE STOP ISSUING DAILY BRIEFINGS BECAUSE SO FAR ONLY 58 DEATHS OUT OF 15MILLION ZAMBIANS , THIS IS INSIGNIFICANT NUMBER TO BE IGNORED

  5. In this modern era we live in a whole country is ravaged by cholera, a medieval disease since eradicated in most parts of the world, what a shame. Just look at Lungu’s face and how he dresses and carries himself, he is the epitome of Cholera! Other countries must stop him from his endless visits, he is a moving Cholera time bomb!

  6. I just hope Cholera corners Jameson Cholera Lungu and a few of his cabinet ministers so that Morningside also refuses to take them in and they expire in this dirty environment they have engineered.
