UPND reports Town Council workers to ACC for Corruption

The UPND in Zambezi Constituency has launched an official complaint to the Anti Corruption Commission against Zambezi Town Council workers suspected of corruptly awarding contracts to friends and involved in fraudulent procurement of construction materials for Constituency Development Fund for the year 2017.

UPND Zambezi East Constituency Member of Parliament Brian Kambita says in line with the strong beliefs by the Party Leadership, the UPND believes that no single ngwee of the CDF should be lost through thieving council workers.

Mr. Kambita said the entire 2018 Constituency Development Fund shall remain intact until the 2017 CDF is fully accounted for and audited.

He said the party is not in a hurry to call its CDF committee to allocate new funds to new projects when the 2017 funds look to have been mismanaged by a few council workers.

Mr. Kambita said the party wants the law to take its course on this matter, and has called on the Anti Corruption Commission to speedily investigate this matter so that people do not suffer unnecessarily at the hands of a few council employees.

He lamented that North Western Province is one of the least developed places in the country despite the vast mineral wealth it contributes to the national treasure hence any small amounts of money allocated must be prudently utilized for the benefit of our people instead of a few greedy corrupt council officials.

“Our party President Mr. Hakainde Hichilema has consistently preached and strongly believes on the need for zero tolerance on corruption in the country”, he said

He has since asked people in the Constituency to bear with them regarding the usage of the Constituency Development Funds for the year 2018.

  1. By far the most progressive move ever taken by any opposition grouping in Zambia. Not empty threats.

Way to go to right the rot in the public sector.

  2. I’m disappointed that this corruption is happening in Upnd strong hold. …well done MP and hope Katuka and Kakoma won’t devour him.

  3. If you follow UPND it very difficult to know what time it is. Their President is in 2016, it followers are talking about 2017 CDF funds and they have not even started using 2018 funds and this is 2019. I think they should change their symbol to backwards instead of forward.

    • Backwards is owned by PF already, Dununa reverse. Forward should be fine.
