SOCIALIST Party deputy secretary general Dr Fred M’membe has asked the Zambian observer to observe clearly and report truth.

In a statement, Dr M’membe stated that for some time now, The Zambian Observer had carried articles crediting them to him, which he had not written.

He called the development “strange but worrying pattern”.

“Until now, I have not complained about the Zambian Observer’s knack for publishing falsehoods under my name. We had hoped their figment of imagination would have an end!” he stated.

“But their propensity to slander me is getting out of hand. The Zambian Observer’s conduct is not a mistake. It is a premeditated activity whose motive they themselves know. It’s not just unprofessional, unethical but it’s both immoral and dirty. It cannot continue. Don’t go all the length to destroy the noble platform and profession of journalism because doing so will rob the human race greatly.”

Dr M’membe stated that he has not authored the article circulating in the Zambian Observer under the headline: A Must Read: Fred M’membe voices out.”

“We urge the Zambian Observer to observe clearly and report truth. It doesn’t hurt to cultivate news and inform our citizens but please don’t use my name for the sake of your circulation and capital,” stated M’membe.

    • What goes around comes back around right atchu. Mmembe, remember the falsehood, maligning and disparaging articles you used or your paper used to publish, let alone, insults you used to hail at innocent citizens across board. Oh! Mmembe isn’t time for reflection. What you’re feeling right now is exactly what those people you used to despise felt. Let’s see bwana comrade if you have what it takes to persevere. Develop a thick skin and endure. Stop complaining and whining and feel the heat. Let them do their job. Please Zambian Observer, put more stories so this nigga can learn to be fair in life.

    • What’s the use of having a report followed by the exact same words in a press release? Ba LT you think we have time to waste?

    • If it’s the article about kambwili, or the other recent article, they first appeared on the mast,
So I hope this writing on Lusaka times is coming from Fred himself, otherwise it’s Sunday Chanda again

    • “” It’s not just unprofessional, unethical but it’s both immoral and dirty “””

This coming from Fred False Prophet Mmembe is really an insult to Zambia. It was just yester-years that he Mmembe championed the very things he is being critical about.

Once a Snake. Always a Snake.

    • Who pays for free laptops and desktops to political cadres to dish out lies and venom against a person who stood up to Kenneth Kaunda when the so-called veterans of politics and elders were shivering in their underwears and sitting in the last rows in Garden Motel, Lusaka?
Fred was brave enough to start the Weekly Post against all odds, the first independent newspaper to counter staterun bankrupt, one-sided stories dishers TOZ and Daily Mail.

Opposition Party (MMD) message in 1991 could reach across Zambia largely due to the Weekly Post that was later on converted into a daily tabloid.

Learn to respect and give credit to a person who deserves and where it belongs to.

    • Kwati bufi. He started these schopeti practices. At the post they would manufacture sources when they were about to publish rumors. Indeed that false journalism now exists because observer observed how the post sold copies by selling fiction as truth.

  1. This article is fake? Is this Fred Mumembe writing on LT? Or is it him on Zambian Observer?
The tricks Mumembe plays with Akainde are coming back to bite him in the Ar$e! Using fake news and gutter journalism at Zambian Witch Doctor and Zambian Observer. You made your bed. You lay in it.

  2. It doesn’t hurt to cultivate news? What is Mmembe saying? News is not cultivated It is not manufactured! News is covered not cultivated unless he is talking about fake news

    • Cizungu nicobvuta baba, do not take a word literally. Cultivating can mean many things and it can be referred to other things too.

    • Chizungu nichovuta implies other languages are not in the same class. Most of you who say this want to elevate English above your own languages. Just shut up and follow the meaning in perspective and you will see how right Joan is. There is only one meaning in Mmembe’s statement

  3. I don’t understand why you Zambians are so focused on the past.

The issue is NOT who said that the Zambian Observer is disseminating fake news, BUT the issue is that the Zambian Observer disseminating fake news.

Whether Fred used to do it in the past, it’s irrelevant. Discuss what is relevant now. Forget about what Fred used to do, its gone, its the past !!!

    • What Mmembe created in the past is what is haunting him today. That’s what people are talking about.

    • How you miss the point.
So is “what is haunting him today” going to solve the dissemination of fake news?

  4. I blame ZICTA media outlets like, Zambian Watchdog, Zambian observer and Zambian Eye should not be allowed to reach Zambian ms because they are unprofessional, untruthful, divisive and incite hate. How on earth they are still able to publish is evidence that more people need to be retired in National interest.

  5. Thank God this is coming from the architect of gutter journalism, journalism specifically designed to destroy opponents with falsehoods.

  6. Fred membe is self made. The whole machinery under supervision of ck tried to finish him instead it is ck who is finished.

Rb went. Lungu will go. Fred membe remains.

  7. The article in question appeared in the mast last year and written by M’membe. What i don’t understand is why it is being resurrected now.
