Can UPND Show us a Ward or Council they have Developed Using their so called Connections and Management Skills

Share

By NAREP Womens League

We read with interest what RPP President Mr James Lukuku also (opposition alliance spokesperson) had to say about NAREP President Stephen Nyirenda’s stance on political violence involving The UPND. Mr Lukuku should desist from using the opposition alliance to pursue his personal agenda or please his masters. RPP is a political party that should be able to stand on its own feet propagating its own agenda. We as NAREP will not waste our valuable time responding to individuals with questionable character.

In response to UPND Monze MP, Hon Jack Mwiimbu’s allegations against NAREP, we want to state categorically that we fully support our president’s statement that UPND is one of the oldest opposition political parties in Zambia and is directly participating in ruling Zambia through its representatives in council chambers and parliament. Hon Mwiimbu represents Monze where all councilors are UPND – can he point at one basic example of a single ward that has been developed using their so called connections and management skills, a ward that UPND can use as a prototype of how they would develop Zambia if given the mandate to run the affairs of the country. What is there to expect from an MP who has allowed an Agricultural hub of only about 200,000 people to be begging for relief food.

We want to remind Hon Mwiimbu that development should not only happen when one is in state house, NO! Not all development has to be initiated or delivered by the central government. For Hon Mwiimbu to say that they depend on central government for funding for them to develop their constituencies is a joke, lack of seriousness and visionary leadership just like their counterparts the PF! As NAREP women, we know from our simple survey that Hon. Mwiimbu is he himself not a people person who can engage with the people but thrives on casting aspersions on those that are a threat to his continued hold on the constituency. As a matter of fact, besides his legal contribution to UPND, there is nothing we can see tangible from the honourable MP.

We are fully aware of constitutional provisions that mandate the central government to deliver development. The constitution has not stopped anyone to identify projects and lobby funding for the same, but this can only be done by leaders who have a heart for the people. With all the land, the youthful human resource in thousands right in his backyard, Hon Mwiimbu and the UPND have guts place all the blame the central government for their failure to realise development. Our humble advice to hon Jack Mwiimbu of the UPND is that the he has overstayed as MP. It’s now time for new energy, youthful energy, new people with new ideas and solutions to not only represent Monze, but to inspire development.

The Honorable has done his part in his capacity and interest and must be respected and appreciated in that regard. This is the best he can do in all the years he has been an MP for Monze! NAREP will never be a surrogate of any political party, whether UPND or PF. NAREP shall otherwise interact with political parties that are bringing not only progressive ideas to the table but also practising them for the good of the Zambians. Leaders of the likes of Hon Jack Mwiimbu have failed to inspire! Mr. Mwimbu must desist from dragging Zambia’s hope in President Nyirenda into his politics of mudslinging. Mr. Nyirenda is a leader with his own plans for Zambia and must not be expected to be a praise singer for anyone whether ruling or opposition. He shall continue to call things by their known name at any forum, and this we know the Hon is aware. The president’s comment on Prime TV is a candid and experience driven professional observation that Mr. Mwiimbu also understands but maliciously choose to malign.

We wish to render timely warning to Hon, Mwiimbu that the people of Monze Central will soon be tired of his empty promises and inconvertible leadership. NAREP through a visionary Leadership of one Stephen Nyirenda has already started rolling out ideas for the youth, that includes those of Monze Central constituency.

Lastly, we the NAREP women call on all well-meaning women and youths in Zambia and in the diaspora, to rally behind true leadership that is visionary, has integrity, is able to inspire, plan and deliver meaningful development. Zambia is for Zambians, and will only be developed by Zambians.

  1. If you remove tribal appeal Jack Mwiimbu has no political leg to stand on, he can’t even be a councilor anywhere

  2. NAREP-Women’s League you are still far away from political maturity. Before you condemn others you must first judge yourselves before pointing figure to your fellow opposition parties.
Tells us or show us what developments you have achieved as an opposition Party . By the way the role of Opposition parties is for checks and balance. The onus is on the ruling party to develop and fund projects in constituency suggested by the MP. Currently the country is bankrupt and maybe you tell us how you intend to source funds and ideas you have for constituency development.

    • No NAREP sounds very politically mature. They have sound arguments that you should just respond to. Their argument that you should show us what you would do if you became the ruling party by doing it now in Monze where you have the reigns is very valid. If you look at South Africa the opposition Muzungu party there tries by all means to show that Cape Town which they rule is better run than Joburg. UPND should be doing the same

  6. Unfortunately Zambia is still run through a highly centralised governance and administration system. NAREP and other serious opposition parties should be pressuring the government to pass the buck to decentralised structures. Once this is well done, then it may be possible to compare how different political parties perform in their strongholds. It is sad for NAREP to fail to see the challenges when everything is run under the banner of Party and Its Government (PIG)!

  7. Its eye opening and truly concerning when a fellow opposition party can identify how terrible another one is. For years we have told upnd ati sontapo. They have nothing to show apart from dancing around on Facebook how can they develop a ward when their president has never held public office, not even ward councillor. It is like saying that the diasporans are developing zambia just because they send a few dollars to their own relative. And yet that relatives are living better life than them here and taking them for a ride. A useless man can’t develop a country. However a patriotic party can . Kz

  8. Those people that believe UPND will deliver development once voted in to power are day dreaming. HH will spend 20 years being a business must trying to get his money back spend since 2006. Then another 20 years trying to make profit from him 20 years “investment”. UPND was a political party during Anderson Mazoka. Under HH UPND is just another one of his businesses.

  9. Can NAREP show us one where they developed themselves or point to one which PF developed when in opposition? I think for Zambia to move forward we need to structure elections to suit our needs. Currently most parts of the country which have opposition MP’S are not developing because the country is polarized based on party affiliations. If Zambia came up with a system where councilors, MP’S and mayors are elected independently without being affiliated to a party and the president and vice president position are contested on party lines it would make the MP’S and councilors work freely for the people with the party in government. The party whose leader becomes president only gets to form cabinet. This way there will be no bias in parliament and the govt wings will truly work…

This is what we want. …..show us what you have done. Set the bar.

Not just insulting and lieing everyday , talking crap that does not affect the living standards of our people.

MPs and councillors of all parties should be asked these questions……show us what you have done to deserve our vote.

Can we also appeal to LT to reserve a special slot for Mps and councillors to showcase their archivments on LT ????

LT you seem to entertain anyone with nothing but sh.it coming out of their mouths …….can you pleas reserve a golden slot on your pages to showcase archivments by MPs……this will persuade people to make right choices.

  12. Achievement challenge: can the people in diaspora point something they have developed or achieved?

Ok I will start: I have built a block of classrooms in my home village and I have sacrificed 20 percent of my salary since 2 months ago to help my government. Who is next ?

  16. UPND has misled a lot of people by pretending that the onus to initiate and execute projects is the preserve of the Party on government. Every elected official, be it councilor or MP has a role to play. There’s no way any government department can move into Monze to do projects without the input from Jack Mwiimbu. Each MP has a portion where he must append his signature, the WDC and councilor all have roles to play. It’s therefore nonsensical for the UPND to claim that it isn’t their responsibility. Most UPND run councils are notorious for not acquitting CDF funds because MPs don’t want to do their job. They’re the only political Party that celebrate whenever misfortune hits the nation. The way they celebrated Sata’s death I’m sure most of them even had orgasms!

  17. This new NAREP leader needs orientation on how Development works in Zambia.
The Legal Framework in Zambia is such that the Ruling Party drives the Development Agenda.
Unfortunately, with the regional politics we have come to adopt, Opposition Strongholds are denied development for voting for the opposition.
Solwezi Central MP not long ago had his donation of Mattresses to Solwezi General Hospital rejected. Now if an MP cannot be allowed to do such a small thing as a donation, what more with development? HH equally wanted to donate mattresses to UTH to help Zambians sleep comfortably when they become patients but the PF government blocked that. They are happy to see patients sleeping on hospital beds without mattresses or sleeping on the cold floor. These are the issues the new NAREP…

  18. NAREP! Don’t try to climb to the tree top using arguments with fellow climbers ahead of you! learn their success and failures.
In Zambia its treason to source funds and compete with GRZ.
None of the parties before have done so.
Yours is a tale of a drowning man grasping on straws.

  19. UPND should be ashamed of themselves. They have added very little value to Zambian politics. All they have brought is TRIBALISM, divisions, HATE and egotism. They have been ‘in power’ in several districts in Zambia. What have they got to show for it NOTHING! Yet some i.diot out there wants to convince us that they can deliver this Country! How????

  20. Indeed upandown has achieved a lot especially in misleading the people, In whistle blowing but without concrete and proscutable evidence, promotion of tripartite bantustunship based on tradition cousinship, formulation and implementation of mapatizya violence formula and as someone has pointed out here, blaming corruption when they lose elections. Thank you!!
