Former Chipolopolo striker Collins Mbesuma has been appointed head coach of Randburg AFC’s U18 team for the 2026 Engen U18 Tournament in South Africa.
Mbesuma confirmed his appointment to _Lusaka Times Sports_ by phone.
The tournament will feature some of South Africa’s biggest clubs, including Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.
Club officials said Mbesuma was given the role after a strong spell with Randburg’s U19 side.
The chairman entrusted him with the U18 team, citing his work in youth development.
Mbesuma did not take charge during last week’s qualifying knockouts.
However, management later met and resolved that he would lead the side at the main tournament.
Randburg AFC are regulars in the Engen Knockout Challenge and qualified automatically for 2026 after consistent runs to the quarter-finals and semi-finals.
They reached the last eight in 2025 before losing to Kaizer Chiefs, and the semis in 2024, going out to the same side on penalties.
Mbesuma will now lead the U18s against some of South Africa’s top youth academies.
