Vice President, Mutale Nalumango, has underscored the importance of value addition and innovation as key drivers of Zambia’s economic growth.
Speaking during the tour of exhibition stands at this year’s 60th Zambia International Trade Fair in Ndola today, Mrs Nalumango expressed happiness with the information shared by exhibitors who highlighted their latest products and investment opportunities.
The exhibitors outlined efforts aimed at improving productivity, promoting value addition and expanding access to regional and international markets.
Mrs Nalumango commended COPSHU, a local shoe manufacturing company for their good workmanship, adding that there is need for Zambia to reduce imports by strengthening local industries and enhancing value addition.
“We should reduce imports and increase value addition,” she said.
Ms Nalumango encouraged manufacturers to continue producing quality goods capable of competing on both local and international markets.
The Vice President’s tour is part of activities lined up for the fair, which continues to draw participation from government institutions, private companies, development partners and entrepreneurs.
This year’s Zambia International Trade Fair, which is being held under the theme, “Bridging Markets, Building the Future” has attracted both local and international exhibitors seeking to promote trade, investment, innovation and business partnerships.
