President Hakainde Hichilema has urged the residents of Mongu District in Western Provinces to reflect on the lives they led in the Patriotic Front (PF) administration and the life they are living today.
President Hichilema reminded the residents on how they were allegedly mistreated under the PF administration noting that citizens were restricted from wearing certain regalia.
The Head of state added that citizens should vote for UPND if they want to continue enjoying their freedom which they did not enjoy in the past administration.
Speaking at Mulambwa grounds in Mongu district this afternoon, President Hichilema stated that under the UPND administration, the citizens are getting employed in various sectors.
“Your children have been employed under the Zambia Police, in the health sector and in the education sector without segregation,
And no one will be allowed to go to State House and change that law on Free Education. I already signed it and it is now a law,” he added.
President Hichilema cited Free Education, employment of teachers, employment of health workers and the increased CDF from 1.6 to over 40 million Kwacha as some of the achievements that the UPND has scored.
He said after being re-elected, every province is going to have what he termed as a provincial economy.
“This government will ensure that after elections, we want to make sure that every province has what we call a provincial economy,” he said.
President Hichilema further revealed that in next year’s budget, money will be set aside for the construction of a university in Mongu district.
The Head of State also echoed that once re-elected, the UPND will build an international airport in Mongu district.
“We will have an international airport in Mongu because of so many investment opportunities such as the rice production, timber production and tourism that is here,” said President Hichilema.
He however, appealed to the people of Mongu to vote for UPND for continued development.
“This year, we are voting for a suit not any other colour. I need a councilor, Mayors, Council Chairpersons, MPs and off course me as the President,” he said.
Meanwhile, UPND Alliance Chairperson, Charles Milupi, said President Hichilema should be the preferred candidate for all because he has proven to be a good leader by not just uniting the people but also ensuring that development is spread across the country.
Mr Milupi indicated that President Hichilema’s number one priority was to unite and develop the country.
Meanwhile, UPND Deputy Secretary General, Getrude Imenda, stated that President Hichilema has improved the welfare of civil servants hence they should not listen to those who implemented a wage freeze when they were in government.
“Today I want to urge the civil servants not to listen to these people that want to lie to you that they will improve your lives. They are the ones that implemented the wage freeze,” said Ms Imenda.
And former Minister of Tourism, Rodney Sikumba, urged Mongu residents to re elect President Hichilema by 5 million votes because of his sound leadership.
