President Hakainde Hichilema says all United Party for National Development (UPND) adopted candidates are the ones who understand his development agenda.
And President Hichilema has disputed allegations that he secretly supports the independent candidates.
President Hichilema says his loyalty stands with UPND candidates and urged Zambians not to support independent candidates, but instead support candidates contesting on the UPND ticket for continued development.
The Head of State was speaking in Kalabo district during a community engagement.
President Hichilema has further called on the People of Kalabo to vote for him and all the UPND candidates on August 13,2026, citing various developmental projects that his administration has done in the last five years that has improved the lives of not only the people of Kalabo but the Zambian people at large.
“How can I support an independent or opposition candidate when I have my own candidates under UPND, for Members of Parliament these are the people that sit in parliament hence the need to give them support,” he said.
President Hichilema urged Zambians not to support independent candidates, but instead support candidates contesting on the UPND ticket for continued development.
“To protect the gains we have made since 2021, you must vote UPND, vote for UPND MPs, vote for UPND Councilor’s and Vote for President Hakainde Hichilema,
Together, we have laid the foundation for economic prosperity and after August 13, our mission is clear: double the economy and create jobs for our young people,” he said.
President Hichilema further urged the people of Kalabo to be campaign managers and ensure that UPND emerges victorious on August 13, 2026.
Meanwhile, President Hichilema who was flanked by UPND Alliance party members such as Charles Milupi and former minister Rodney Sikumba also cited developmental plans that the government has for Kalabo district such as the construction of the Kalabo-Sikongo Road.
Mr Sikumba said the government remains committed to improving infrastructure development in Western Province under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND.
Other UPND members at national level and Kalabo districts have equally urged the people across the country to support the UPND in the August 13 polls.
