Zamtel injects US280 million in network upgrading

ZAMTEL is installing new power plants in Kitwe, Ndola and Lusaka, and has also launched more 4G sites to help improve the network at a cost of 280 million United states dollars.

ZAMTEL Communications Manager Kennedy Mambwe said that the installation of the new power plants will drastically improve the voice, mobile and data communication experience for customers.

Mr. Mambwe observed that between last year and this year on the Copperbelt province, the company managed to put up 48 extra high capacity 4G equipment in addition to the 174 that were previously on the market.

ZANIS reports that Mr. Mambwe said this an interview during a media tour to showcase the investments that government is making in improving ZAMTEL network quality.

He said that in phase three of the project, the company will also roll out another 56 to cover Luanshya district.

He said that ZAMTEL is dedicated to bringing world class communication facilities that will improve communication experiences.

Mr. Mambwe added that with such investment in the telecommunication industry customers will now be able to access 90 to 100 merger bytes per second adding that this was a sign that Zambia will have a reliable and wide spread communication.

    • Let’s hope they won’t continue making losses because this company has not been making profit at all

  1. Isn’t this not the same $280 million for the towers or have they pumped another $280million? Where is this money coming from since this company has never recorded a decent profit!!

    • The govt has acquired a loan for these idiots.Nowonder IMF are saying we are hugley indebted as a nation….too many loans simply goes on to show you the capability of a firm/person/country to manage there finances . We simply do not have the capacity to raise funds from our natural resources .Zamtel has had the best infrastructure for decades, but now they are languishing on the bottom of the food chain due to mismanagement and misappropriation of funds. it’s like give your Yo Bally son an alteeza and a barclays ATM card with 100 thousand in it.kikikikiki…can’t see these fools making any cash after they squander the 280 million.they will request for another 1million to virtualize there network kikikikikiki

  2. At last the thieving company has realised it has stolen enough from its poor customers.

  3. One of the most useless firms in zambia, led by totally inept and incompetent fools.Slow internet, useless customer service,Call drops and now they are launching a joke of LTE.Kuti waseke ifupuba ifiii….i dont know if none of the so called managers don’t carry out market surveys to learn more about what customers expect from them. otherwise bigup to MTN for a superb service.Even airtel with the ninsense going on in the network have a show explaining to us why we are currently getting poor service from them and for how long.and you expect us to buy zambian…no we shall buy the best yet affordable service.1.Mtn 2. Airtel 3.Anything other than zamtel.
